Since 1969 H-J has been providing quality parts for transformer, switchgear, and breaker
manufacturers, as well as most companies involved with transmission and distribution equipment.
H-J started out with a small foundry and machine shop outside of Saint Louis, Missouri, and has
grown into an international company with over 400 employees. H-J operates three manufacturing
plants around the world with over 300,000 square feet of manufacturing space. H-J operates its own
foundry, which pours non-ferrous metals. Our facilities also include an epoxy molding operation, an
electrical porcelain manufacturing plant, tin and silver plating operations, and a world-class test lab.

This product guide gives you a brief overview of many of the product lines that are available. While
not an exhaustive list, it provides a great overview of our product offerings and capabilities. Presented
in this guide is a listing of our standard products. However, many items can be modified to fit a
specific application or customer need.

Drain Valves
Our globe valves come in sizes from up to 2,
with and without flanges, and in brass and stainless
steel. As a value added service, H-J International
also provides options for valves with pre-installed
accessories such as pipe plugs and nipples, as well
as application of sealant and locking compounds.
All drain valves are leak tested prior to shipment to
ensure customers a leak-free product.

Instrumentation
Liquid Level Gauges

Our liquid level gauge is offered with a cast

aluminum housing with dual mounting options
available (in both English and Spanish)

Oil Sight Gauge (provided with an aluminum float ball)

Pressure Vacuum Gauges

Our standard pressure vacuum gauge is stainless

steel and available for 10 PSIG. We also offer a
gauge available for 75 kPa.

Thermometers

We offer several sizes of thermometers and

thermometer wells with a range from 0 to
120oC. Extended range thermometers are also
available for -40oC. to +120oC. Thermometers
are also available with Spanish text on the face
plate.

Current Limiting Fuses

Our fuse offerings include Oil Submerged Protection (OSP)

partial range Current Limiting Fuses in both standard and short
lengths, Power Distribution Fuses, Full Range Fuses, as well as
Fuse Supports, Fuse Disconnect Switches, ETP Fuses, and other
items. We also offer our fuses pre-mounted utilizing a universal
fuse holder with a stainless steel clamp.
Our standard length fuses are offered at 8.3 kV with
40 AMP to 200 AMP, 15.5 kV with 40 AMP to 150
AMP, and 23 kV with 40 AMP to 65 AMP. Parallel
fuses are also available for a wider range of current
ratings.
Our shorty fuses are offered at 8.3 kV with 30 AMP
to 200 AMP, 15.5/17.2 kV with 30 AMP to 165
AMP, and 23 kV with 30 AMP to 160 AMP. Parallel
fuses are also available for a wider range of current
ratings.

Flexible Copper Connectors

We offer a wide variety of flexible copper connectors including

flexible links, shunts, stranding wire, copper braids, prefabricated
braids, and many others. These products can be made to almost
any size, style and current rating needed.

DIN & EN Standard Distribution Transformer Bushings and Connecting Flags
In order to serve the Distribution Transformer industry, H-J offers a full line of Low Voltage and High
Voltage Bushings manufactured according to EN Standards. In addition, H-J offers a complementary
line of Connecting Flags according to DIN Standard. H-J can manufacture any design to meet specific
requirements.
Low Voltage Bushing Connecting Flags

Our Low Voltage Bushing assemblies are

made with a 1.2 kV class porcelain top
in brown color RAL 8016. The bottom
insulator is made of nylon which is less
fragile and allows for lighter assembly
weight. The skirts on the porcelain are
designed to protect the top and bottom
gaskets from UV exposure. These
bushings are manufactured according
to the EN50386 Standard. We offer these
bushings in current ratings from 250 AMP up
to 2000 AMP and all standard designs include
all top terminal hardware nuts and washers.

Low Voltage Bushing Assemblies

1.2 KV class porcelain top body bushing

assemblies according to EN50386 Standard.
Nylon bottom insulator for lighter assembly
weight and less fragile. Porcelain skirt
designed to protect top and bottom gaskets
from UV exposure. Porcelain color Brown RAL
8016. Current ratings available from 250 AMP
up to 2000 AMP. Standard designs include all
top terminal hardware nuts and washers.

High Voltage Bushing Kits

H-J is offering porcelain body HV bushing

complte kits according to the EN50180
Standard in 12 kV, 24 kV, and 36 kV classes
all with 250 AMP current rating. All standard
designs include all of the top terminal
hardware as well as the clamping ring and
other required hardware. The porcelain is
made in brown color RAL 8016.

Standard High Current Bushing Assemblies

Our high current bushings are offered from 1.2 kV to 5 kV and

clamp for external mounting. These are available with a variety
of shank lengths and creepage. Terminations for these bushings
vary depending on the need of the application.

Standard Low Voltage Bushing Assemblies
We offer our standard Low Voltage Bushing Assemblies in a
wide variety of options. Some of these options include a spade
or eyebolt terminal, internally or externally clamped, several
tank hole sizes, and different body materials. All bushings are
1.2 kV and are rated either 30 kV BIL or 45 kV BIL.

Metric Low Voltage Bushing Assemblies

Just as with our standard Low Voltage Bushings, our metric versions
come in all the same options. Some of these include a spade or
eyebolt terminal, internally or externally clamped, several tank hole
sizes, and different body materials. All bushings are 1.2 kV and are
rated either 30 kV BIL or 45 kV BIL.

Mexican Market Low Voltage Bushing Assemblies

Our Low Voltage Bushings for the Mexican Market are all approved

Ground Lug Terminals
Ground Lugs are offered in many options such as 2-way
or 4-way orientation, internal or external threads,
eyebolt or vise style, and metric or standard dimensions.

Spade Terminals
Our Spade Terminals are offered in a variety of
lengths, widths and thicknesses. Standards run from
2 hole up to 20 hole, but larger sizes are available.
We also offer in-line or G spade styles, with or
without tangs (an anti-rotation device), and standard
or metric dimensions. We can also produce blank
terminals without any holes.

threaded or non-threaded.

Hardware
Tank Fabrication

H-J also has the ability to stock, distribute, and manufacture those hardware items that
are needed to fabricate pole and pad mounted transformer tanks. These items would
include bosses, ground pads, lifting lugs, hinges and hinge pins, weld bosses, lifting bosses,
pentahead bolts, and several other items and are offered in a variety of material including
several grades of steel and stainless steel. Our facility and partners can accommodate the
manufacture of custom, low volume products, as well as large production quantities.

Tank Plug

We offer a 3-in-1 interchangeable tank plug that is designed to fit three different tank hole
sizes. It can be used in lieu of filling a gap or void after removing an LV bushing, tap switch,
load break switch, etc. The concept helps to eliminate the necessity to stock three different
tank plugs. They are constructed of aluminum and furnished with the mounting cup, bolt,
and gaskets. The common tank hole sizes for this plug are: 1.06 (for CSP opening), 1.295,
and 1.437.

H-J Test Lab
Our high voltage test lab is designed to provide research and development capabilities as well as
external testing services. Our facility can handle small to medium size equipment for a variety of tests.
Among others our test lab is capable of wet AC withstand, dry AC withstand, radio interference, QUV
accelerated weathering, differential scanning calorimetry, thermal imaging, contact resistance, x-ray
imaging, partial discharge, power factor, impulse, temperature rise, current rating, thermo cycling,
tension, compression, and pressure/airflow. With our extensive equipment and highly qualified
personnel we can test in accordance with nearly all applicable standards including ANSI/IEEE, NEMA,
CSA, and IEC. Tests can also be performed according to customer specific standards or requirements.
