Conclusions

The influence of Armstrong on the development of jazz is virtually immeasurable. Yet, his
irrepressible personality both as a performer, and as a public figure later in his career, was so
strong that to some it sometimes overshadowed his contributions as a musician and singer.
As a virtuoso trumpet player, Armstrong had a unique tone and an extraordinary talent for
melodic improvisation. Through his playing, the trumpet emerged as a solo instrument in jazz
and is used widely today. He was a masterful accompanist and ensemble player in addition to his
extraordinary skills as a soloist. With his innovations, he raised the bar musically for all who
came after him.
To this day, Armstrong is regarded as the father of jazz. His sophistication and inventiveness as a
trumpet player changed the course of improvisation, as he inspired musicians to improvise using
their own unique styles. His influence was pivotal in the development of jazz in the first half of
the century, and guided the creative output of such figures as Duke Ellington, Ella Fitzgerald,
and Dizzy Gillespie. The joy he brought to the bandstand as a trumpeter, singer, and bandleader
has yet to be matched.
In other words, Louis Armstrongs talent touched the world of music, more specific jazz music.
His contribution to its development has a considerable importance, especially when he was a
citizen of New Orleans, the city where jazz was built up from scratch.
Moreover, it is known that Afro American people were disdained in society and their status
hardly changed in time. Although this social condition was a though one, Louis Armstrong
proved that his talent was more important than the racial aspects and the fact that what comes
from inside really matters such as his amazing music. Louis never stand for Afro American
people rights, however his silent message was understood in that great context of racism by those
who had the right sensibility to feel that. Obviously the great musician managed to change the
label of slavery marked on black people transforming it in a ticket towards talent and success.
Furthermore, beyond his musical skills people could see through his transparent character
directly to his full of noble emotions heart. It is almost unrealistic to create with an empty soul.
Therefore, Louis Armstrong revealed his feelings in the most sincerely and pure way that
impress the human kind at the highest level, the way of music. Probably his path was destined in
order to show his character and capacity of living to everyone from this wonderful world. He
sang about love, beauty, happiness, bitterness and transmitted all that a man can feel.
To conclude with, Louis Armstrong was a remarkable man not only for his ability of playing jazz
in a styled manner, but for his humanity that he proved in his way of leaving and honest charity.
He succeeded in passing over the hard period from his childhood and let to be healed by the
power of music. Probably he did the same with those who listened to his music. Thus, Louis
Armstrong was a true musician, having a major influence during his career.
