The base of this Ambassador will be the capital city, Mogadishu. As you
are aware recently, the foreign affairs ministry as well as the government
have been working hard on long term relationship with the international
community which is very important for the existence and nationalism of the
Somali people. Before, most of the Ambassadors bases were outside the
country but recently the number of Embassies based here are increasing.

KENYAN AMBASSADOR TO SOMALIA.
Neighbours are provided by God for good purposes and intentions.
Therefore Kenyan was placed with Somalia for these good purposes and

intentions. For Kenya on their part, has pursued and is guided by the
principle of good neighbourliness and has looked at Somalia as a good
neighbour, a partner in all aspects and we look forward to that time when
Somalia and Kenya will take the same positions in the family of Nations to
articulate the issues to do with human welfare. I would like to say also that
on the part of Kenya we have always embraced our brothers and sisters
from Somalia. Despite the challenges, we have remained with them even
right now. We work with them in every step in their journey in
peacebuilding and nation building. The other point I want to point out is
that I want to convey on behalf of the government of Kenya and on behalf
of the people of Kenya their heartfelt condolences to the government of
Somalia and the people of Somalia on the loss of lives from the recent
attack on Jazeera Hotel. Those were innocent lives lost and we really
emphasize with you. We hope very soon that this kind of situation will
end.

Mogadishu, 30 July 2015: The President of the Federal Government of
Somalia His Excellency Hassan Sheikh Mohamoud has today received
credentials of the newly appointed Kenyan Ambassador to Somalia Major
General Rtd. Lucas Tumbo.
The retired General who was recently deployed to Somalia presented his
credentials to President Mohamoud at the Presidential Palace, in Villa
Somalia.
The President held a brief meeting with the Kenyan envoy where he thanked
the Kenya government for the steady support it has accorded to Somalia
since the flareup of conflict.
Kenya hosts the biggest Somali refugee populations some of whom have
been integrated into the country. President Mohamoud said it was in
Somalias best interest to form a good working relationship with its
neighbouring countries.
Present was Somali Minister of State for Foreign Affairs and International
Cooperation Hon. Khalid Omar who emphasised the importance of close
liaison with the international community and regional countries.
