During the 15 years Arizpe formed part of the Monterrey marcelaygina collective. The main artistic strategies that define her work
include: separating her studio from the action of reflection and moving it to the street and becoming an intermediary of socio-aesthetic
transactions. Arizpe received a BFA from the Autonomous University
of Nuevo Len, where she also completed a postgraduate degree.
Check Point, a retrospective of her work in the collective, was presented at the Carrillo Gil Art Museum in Mexico City in 2010. In
addition, her work has been shown in cities across the U.S., Latin
America, and Europe. She currently works and lives in Mexico City,
and since 2011 has been a recipient of the National System of Art
Creators grant.
For my collaboration in the project Migrant Suitcases, I received a suitcase made of triplay and pine wood (12 x 8.85
x 3.54) to alter it in a plastic way and present it in the
space assigned to this collective proposal.
In response to this invitation,
I decided to go to the Lechera
train station, one of the main
stops in the migrants routes in
Mexico, and give the suitcase
to a person in its way to the
United States. Previously, I put
some provisions and simple materials that I thought could be of
great help during the trip.
With this project, I wanted the
suitcase to enter in one of this
circuits of human migration,
lost its trace, and accompany
one of this persons in her trip.

led him to create Migrantes Frontera Sur (MFS, South Border Migrants) in 2008. This social and artistic movement is a platform that

In AMBULANTE A.C. we believe in the power of documentary cinema as a tool for social and cultural transformation.
For the past 7 years, the Ambulante Documentary Film Festival has toured all over Mexico, bringing documentary films to places where they are rarely available in order to
create a participative, informed and critical audience, to procure new forms of expression, and to encourage dialogue and debate. Ambulante has become the documentary film
festival with the largest scope in Mexico and a unique exhibition space in the world.
AMBULANTE also supports education in documentary filmmaking through the initiative Ambulante Beyond, which aims to train new filmmakers from all over Latin America that
have limited access to the necessary tools that would allow their stories to find new and widespread avenues of expression. Furthermore, AMBULANTE has curated showcases
of Latin American documentaries in more than 33 cities in 15 countries, in collaboration with other festivals, organizations, exhibitors and institutions.
