I humbly apply for the Masters Degree Programme in Business and Health in

your institution.
I am a graduate of Public Administration, Lagos State
University, Nigeria and also a Master of Administrative Sciences graduate of the
University of Vaasa, Finland.
After the completion of my masters degree, I decided to take a second masters
degree before thinking of the future. I therefore researched into a course that
would be useful for me, my country and the whole world. I chose Masters Degree
in Health and Business at your prestigious arena of learning. Having made
research on institutions of my choice, I realized that University of Eastern Finland
is one of the famous universities in Finland and among the top best institutions in
the world. It is an institution whose profile has revealed its high reputation and
prestige that makes her stand out amidst her colleagues. My esteem desire is to
be given the opportunity to achieve the long lasting dream of becoming an
alumnus of your institution, which will also give me the opportunity of producing
a world class solution in a research area that will make the people of my country
and the whole world happy with a reliable and efficient health sector
management solution. This could solve numerous inefficiency and
ineffectiveness that has been the bane of health institutions in my country in
particular and many third world countries.
Having been a pioneer member of my local community development association
that sees to the cleanliness of our environment, I understand the essence of
clean living and environment. I volunteered as an immunization officer during the
polio eradication immunization program in Lagos Nigeria before I came to
Finland. From this program I understand the problem of public health sector
management in Nigeria.
My field of interest is to make research on various management tools and skills
that could be used to manage public health sectors in the world, which could be
useful in the management of same sector in my country. My keen interest is
borne out of the conviction that University of Eastern Finland provides a suitable
environment where I can develop the required competence to further my pursuit
of the chosen field of study.
Moreover, I had previous work experience as an administrative manager in a
company in Nigeria, this management and administrative skills will be of added
advantage to me in this new field of study. Also my exposure to the international
communities in my previous master's degree is also an added advantage. I
studied previously with people of different ethnic background and nationalities,
also the minor courses of the degree was intercultural studies.

My mission statement is to achieve a world class solution and the highest

potential impact through operational excellence in the field of public health
management policy. My masters thesis would be based on "MANAGING
PUBLIC HEALTH INSTITUTIONS IN NIGERIA; A CASE STUDY ANALYSIS OF
GENERAL HOSPITAL LAGOS ISLAND NIGERIA". There has been dearth of

efficient management in our public health institutions in Nigeria. There is urgent

need for professional health managers that will supervise these institutions. I
would research into the causes of inefficiency in our public health institutions.
This research will critically look into the impact of the government in the
management of health institutions in Nigeria, with more focus on the case study.
It would then recommends realistic solutions to the problem of poor
management of our health institutions in Nigeria. And as a student from a
developing country my knowledge will avail me the opportunity of contributing
positively to the development of my country, Nigeria in particular and the world
in general. I hope to become a career civil servant of the Federal Republic of
Nigeria which I will be able to contribute my quota of making policies that will be
of benefit to the citizenry.
I would be responsible for sponsoring my programme. As a longtime resident of
Finland, I have access to student grant to ease my study.
In conclusion, my purpose of study is to be a well trained professional in this area
of specialization to be of benefit to humanity.
