Father-Daughter Relationship

Abstract
The purpose of the present study was to investigate the association between Fathers religiosity
and quality of Father-daughter relationship. In this regard, the researchers analyzed the
religiosity of fathers and perception of their daughters about quality relationship between them.
Researchers have investigated the quality relationship of father and daughter with various
dynamics of their relationship such as trust, flow of communication, sharing, style of attachment,
social functioning of daughters and pattern of socialization. Researchers checked different
determinants of Fathers religiosity and how social virtues such as forgiveness, sympathy,
tolerance and helping behavior towards others help them to sort out their issues of social life and
how it affect their relationship with family and daughters.
A survey research method was conducted using self-administered questionnaire, in Wapda Town
housing society, Lahore.A sample of fifty (50) respondents was selected using purposive or
judgmental sampling technique. Daughters were selected on the basis of age ranging from 14-20.
Scoring and measurement was done according to the procedure as describe in chapter 3 and 5.
The hypothesis of the present study was Higher the level of religiosity of mother, the higher will
be the quality relationship with her daughter. To test this hypothesis Chi-Square was applied by
the researchers. Findings of this research revealedpositive association between fathers religiosity
and quality relationship with her daughter.
Our research findings approved that religion is a fundamental force to strengthen intimate
relationships such as father-daughter relationship so family therapists and curriculum
developers / educationists can use religion as a tool to improve family relations and conflict
resolution.
