CIMA OBJECTIVE TESTS

Objective Tests (OTs) are the examinations for the following CIMA Professional
Qualification subjects:
E1 Organisational Management
P1 Management Accounting
F1 Financial Reporting and Taxation
E2 Project and Relationship Management
P2 Advanced Management Accounting
F2 Advanced Financial Reporting
E3 Strategic Management
P3 Risk Management
F3 Financial Strategy

How to book your exam


You can book your preferred OT date, location and time via our website. Make sure you
have your
CIMA Contact ID number handy. You can pay via debit/credit card, PayPal or opt to
invoice your employer. You will receive a detailed email confirmation, once the booking
has been accepted. We recommend that you
your exam space as early as possible as places are limited and they will fill up.
Exam Booster Sessions
These are half-day tutor led sessions that take place just before the OT assessments.
Class sizes
kept small which will allow tutors to give you the personal attention and support you
need. Your
will work through questions with you, recap any areas you need to and give you some
last
minute tips on exam techniques so you can be confident on achieving the 70% pass rate.
Booking an
Exam Booster also gives you a guaranteed exam slot to sit your OT assessment on the
same day.

The Exam
The OT assessments are sat on a computer. For a complete overview from CIMA of the OT
exams,
Duration

A maximum of 90 minutes is allotted for an OT. We would like you to arrive at the exam
location a
minimum of 30 minutes before the actual exam start time, and allow 15 minutes after
your exam
before you leave. If you arrive any later then you may not be allowed to enter the exam
room.

Questions
Each OT has 60 questions which are selected at random and will cover all of the learning
outcomes
within the syllabus. The questions will be a mix:

True or false
Choose three from five
Enter answer in the box
Drag and drop

What to take with you into the exam room


Two forms of identification (ID) both need to have your signature on and one must have
a
photograph. Further guidance of acceptable forms of ID will be provided in your
confirmation email. You will have your photograph and signature taken and will be asked
to confirm your understanding of the exam rules and guidelines.
During 2015 you will be permitted to use your own calculator, providing it meets CIMAs
requirements.
If you do not bring one or if you bring a calculator which is not on the approved list, you
will have to use the onscreen version provided within the exam.
You are NOT permitted to take in the exam room with you: mobile phone, pencil case,
books/notes or
any other papers/notebooks.
There will be a place made available for you to leave any personal belongings.
You may wish to take a watch too although there is a timer on the computer screen.

What you will be given in your exam


You will be given one wipe clean board booklet and a pen to do your rough workings on.
These must
be left in the exam room.

What you should do when you enter the exam room


Remain silent from when you enter, as you are then under exam conditions.
Sit at the desk allocated and ensure you are comfortable, adjusting your chair, the
monitor position,
keyboard and mouse placement, until you are happy with the set up.
Read through the CIMA official instructions on the screen when instructed to do so.

Listen to the invigilators instructions.


Ask the invigilator any questions you have, prior to the commencement of the exam.
Raise your hand
to ask a question.
Remember, there may be other students taking the exam at the same time, so you
should be
considerate throughout.
At the start of the exam
You will be provided with a short, onscreen tutorial on the OT process (including how to
submit your
answers and navigate the test) before you start the exam.
You will need to follow the instructions on screen.
Your name and the name of the exam will appear on screen ensure that this is the
correct exam
that you are planning to sit.
Inform the invigilator immediately if any of the information is incorrect.
Do not start the exam until you are given permission to do so.

During the exam


A timer is shown on your screen that will count down your allotted time.
You dont have to answer each question in turn you can return to the question later.
You can move between questions and review which questions you have or have not
answered.
There are also arrows to help you navigate.
Dont leave any multiple choice question unanswered if you dont know which answer is
correct,
exclude those which you know are wrong and make an educated guess.
Provided you have time, review each question/answer at least twice.
At the end of the exam
The OT will automatically end after your time is up.

You can finish early if you are certain that you have completed every question to the best
of your
ability, by clicking on the Exit icon. Dont feel pressured to finish early simply because
some other
students may have done so.
The invigilator will inform you of your provisional pass or fail result at the end of the
exam; this will be
confirmed and further detail given within a few days.
You will then be given permission to leave please be quiet in case other students are
still working.
How to approach your OT studies
Key topics
The whole of the syllabus is examinable therefore you should have practiced and be
confident
in all syllabus areas.
Practice
You should aim to work through as many practice questions as possible. With lots of
practice you will
recognise familiar patterns and formats and this will make it easier in the real exam.
Therefore we suggest that is it essential for you to practice answering computer-based
questions.
Read the question carefully. This sounds obvious, but many students try and find the
question that
they are familiar with instead of reading the actual requirement. The requirement is
usually at the end
of the question. So, read the requirement, think about what type of information is needed
to answer
the question, and then look for the information.
All question practice should be attempted under exam conditions and to exam time.
