1. Safety rules of machine


1.1 General Remarks
Several safety equipments had installed in this machine to protect the
operator from injury. However, this machine can be dangerous if
used under improper circumstances. Please read the following safety
notes and understand how to operate the machine before using the
machine.
1.l.l Dangers
1.1.1.l Do not touch any electric equipment and operation panel with wet
hand, which could result in electric shock.
1.1.1.2 Do not touch any switch with wet hand which could result in
electric shock.
1.1.2 Warnings
1.1.2.1 That the floor could become slippery because of the spilt water or
oil and cause accident. For sure the floor is clean, dry and
orderly.
1.1.2.2 If the operation is shared by several people, be ware to reset the
coordinates after you take over unless it is not necessary due to
use the common coordinates.
1.1.2.3 Support an ample working space all the time.
1.1.2.4 Ensure your know how to stop the machine before using it.
1.1.2.5 Do not touch any switch without care.
1.1.2.6 For sure you know the function of the switch and how to use it
before using it.
1.1.2.7 For sure the machine is stopped and the power is off before
replacing the fuse.
1.1.2.8 If the working table adjacent to the machine, you should be
secured to prevent the work piece from falling onto the machine.
1.1.3 Notices
1.1.3.1 Disconnect the circuit breaker of the main power immediately if
the power supply is short or unsteady.
1.1.3.2 Use the recommended or equivalent hydraulic oil, lubricate oil
and grease all the time.
1.1.3.3 Use the fuse with the same specification for replacement.
1.1.3.4 Keep away the electric shock for installation location, installing

the electric equipment.


1.1.3.5 Do not change the original setting parameters unless it is
necessary. Always keep records of the original setting values
before change.
1.1.3.6 Do not blur, block or take away any however according to set
back afterward plate and sign for warring, notice, danger. Please
contact us or our local dealer distributor for purchase a new
plates or signs.

1.2 Shipping/Handling
This T series cnc lathe is composed of spindle, turret, saddle, base,
operation panel, pneumatic system, hydraulic oil pressure system,
lubrication system, electricity cabinet and CNC unit.
The component of this machine had connected by electrical cables
and / or pneumatic piping circuit. During transportation, the
machine body and coolant tank are packed separately. The shipping
and handling equipment used should be able to lift a gross weight of
5 tons at least. Due to size of the machine, it is recommended to lift
this machine with crane and use only the sling frame provided by us.
Nevertheless, read the followings clearly before handling the
package.
1.2.1 Dangers
1.2.1.1 Ensure the shipping and handling equipment can handle a gross
weight of 5 tons at least. If can't make certain of the load capacity
of the handling equipment, please contact with the manufactory
which Provide the handling equipment, be ensure the load
capacity. Don't try to handling under unknown the load capacity
of the handling equipment, otherwise might happen accident that
damaged handling equipment and machine, even person injury.
1.2.1.2 Use only the sling frame provided by us to lift this machine. Uses
of any other sling frame are prohibited because might happen
accident that damaged handling equipment and machine, even
person injury.
1.2.1.3 For sure the wire ropes can receive at least a gross weight of 6
tons if they are used with the lifting equipment to lift the
machinery package. Otherwise might happened accident due to

rope break that damaged handling equipment to and machine,


even person injury.
1.2.2 Warnings
1.2.2.1 For sure the lifted machinery package is in balance before
starting to move it.
1.2.2.2 Abrupt changes in lifting & lowering speed might cause
unexpected damage on the machinery package and are therefore
prohibited.
1.2.2.3 Non people or vehicle is allowed to stay under the lifted package.
1.2.2.4 For sure nobody stay around the working area before starting to
lift the package. Clinging onto the sling frame or wire ropes by
any person is very dangerous and is definitely prohibited.
1.2.3 Notices
1.2.3.1 Check if there is any people or blockage around the working area
before starting to lift the package Blockage should be removed
and people be told to leave before proceed.
1.2.3.2 Do not stop the lifting motions suddenly during the process.
Prevent moment of machine too quick become to unbalance
might result in a serious accident that drop down the machine.
1.2.3.3 Only qualified people are allowed to operate the lifting
equipment to handle this machinery package so that prevent
accident happen.

1.3 Electrical Equipment


Read the following sections before operating this machine.
1.3.l Wiring
1.3.1.1 Ensure the electrical cable used the same or better Power rating
as prescribed in the electrical document.
1.3.1.2 Only qualified engineers are allowed to connect the power cable
of this machine.
1.3.1.3 Do not connect any power cable which might generate signal
noises on the power panel of this machine.
1.3.1.4 Do not connect the power cable of the machine to any power
source or power panel which might cause an abrupt voltage drop.

1.3.2 Grounding
The minimum sectional-area curve of the grounding device
should be larger than l4 mm2. The impedance of the grounding
resistance should be less than 100 . Dimensions of this wiring
should be larger than f AWG No.5 and SWG No.6 (Ensure this
NC machine has been grounded of individual grounding rod.) If
this kind of arrangement is not possible, please grounding this
machine based on the following instructions.
1.3.2.1 The grounding wire of machine should be connected to its own
grounding terminal individually. This kind of arrangement could
prevent external grounding current overflow into this machine.
This overflow current might result in a serious damage on this
machine and is prohibited.
1.3.2.2 The reinforced concrete steel rod is usually used as a grounding
terminal cause of its low resistance to ground (less than 100 ohm).
In doing so, please make connections according to the following
instructions. These instructions are also valid when connecting
ground wires to other types of grounding terminal.
1.3.2.3 Do not share the grounding terminal of this machine with other
equipment, such as welding equipment and high frequency
induction machines.
1.3.2.4 For sure the power rating of the grounding terminal is
compatible to the power rating of this machine.
1.3.2.5 Use an isolated grounding wire with a minimum length always.

1.3.3 Environmental Conditions


The environmental conditions are recommended for installation
of the machine as following. However, those conditions will be
exchange due to period of time or season alternate.
1.3.3.1 Power supply voltage: 85% to 110% of the rated voltage.
1.3.3.2 Power supply frequency: (rated frequency 2) Hz.
1.3.3.3 Ambient temperature: 0 to 45C (32 to 113F)
1.3.3.4 Relative humidity: less than 90%, the moisture condensation of
water drop due to temperature alternation is unacceptable.
1.3.3.5 Avoid hold the machine in the environment from excessive dust
and corrosion substances.

1.3.3.6 Avoid install the machine directly under sunlight or heat source,
which might result in considerable environment temperature
changes.
1.3.3.7 Avoid install the machine in abnormal vibrations surroundings
are prohibiting.
1.3.3.8 If these specified conditions cant satisfy, please contact us or
dealer distributor.

1.4 Mechanical Equipment


Ensure all the wires and cables are insulated properly before
starting up this machine, otherwise might happen electric leakage
and shock.
1.4.1 Ensure the power supply of this machine is enough to run all the
units easily before starting up the machine.
1.4.2 All the cables should be protected from contacting with chips,
which might result in an electric short.
1.4.3 Always clean and lubricate all the sliding surfaces before starting
up the machine, if the machine is just unpacked or has not been
used for a long time. Ensure to run the lubrication system for a
while until all the sliding parts are lubricated adequately before
starting up this machine.
1.4.4 Always use the proper type of lubrication oil as indicated in the
name plate or the manual.
1.4.5 Check all the switches, push buttons and operating levers to mark
sure they could be operated smoothly.
1.4.6 Check the oil level of the oil tank regularly. Fill it up if necessary.
1.4.7 Check the coolant level of the cutting water tank regularly. Fill it
up if necessary.
1.4.8 Ensure the standby signal light is luminous after switching on the
main power supply located on the operation panel.

Machine Introduction

2.1 Combination machinery introduction


2.1.1 The T series is one product of the CNC LATHE series
manufactured by the CHIFA MACHINERY MANUFACTURER
CO., LTD. This machine is made up of bed base, main headstock,
saddle, transmission system of 2 axes, hydraulic and pneumatic
system, lubrication system, chip conveyor and cart, coolant tank and
chip collecting equipment, fully enclosed splash guard, electrical
equipment, operation cabinet and CNC controllers, etc. The
machine is designed to machine different material of work parts,
which do not generate powder chip, corrosion or flammable
substances, such as magnesium alloy. Contact us or our local dealer
if in doubt we will do the best to help, please.
2.1.2 T series CNC LATHE can prepare program of turning piece, and
combined with CNC controller in an automatic mode, safety and
efficiency of working process. It could be increased tremendously.
Nevertheless, read all the manuals we had provided thoroughly.
Dont try to use this machine unless you understand how to operate
and stop the machine and all the safety matters concerned. Details
about how to operate this machine are followed.

2.2 Noise Level


The noise level of this machine is within 75 dBA under the cutting condition.
Its according to CNS4600 standard. In real life, the noise level can be higher
than 85 dBA because actual working conditions might be different from those
of CNS4600 standard.
Dont stay in the environment with unpleasant noise level without wearing
appropriately protect equipment, such as the ear plug.

2.4 Electrical environment requirement


The machine should be installed under the conditions of followings
terms:

3.2 Mechanism to install


1) Ensure the leveling bolts and pads arrange on the correct place,

adjust all the pads position are balance and tight bolts on base.
Cleaning all the rust preventing oil device by cotton, then
lubrication them.
Ensure the correct specifications of main power supply and
grounding device for power input.
Power ON.
Take off the red paint fixed block B and the fixed wood A
first, when

operator is moving X & Z axis. (Avoid the saddle and bases slide to
slip, when machine had transportation.)

6) Air pressure adjustment: 5~6 kg/cm2


7) Ensure the wiring of coolant pump rotate direction CW &

CCW.
8) To regulate the level of machine.
9) To correct proofs of machine.
10) Fill in the proper type lubrication oil.

3.3 Leveling adjustable

The machinery level adjust is relationship about precision of lathe.


For keep precision of machine and decrease machinerys vibrate, to
be sure to depend on following steps in doing level adjust.
Put level gage one L, R one F, B at table center of base.
To adjust bolts for four corner of base.
Precise level adjust of the X axis and Y axis, then adjust the other
bolts let the weight loaded average to distribute on bolts, but cant
influence the level of a mechanism.
To keep precision and process quality of machine. We advise the
level adjust for a mechanism one time per year at least.

3.4 To look over before POWER ON machine


1. The wiring & piping and joint are keep good conditions.
2. The voltage & frequency and phase of main power are correctly.
3. To pay attention to engineers whether workers to expose in
danger area or not.
4. To look up fans of spindle motor and electrics cabinet in normal
condition, when machine turn the main power on.
5. Following the standard operation procedures to power on
mechanism.

3.5.1 Movement
3.5.1.1 Movement when machine packed
3.5.1.1.1 Movement with fork life truck after machine packed
A. The fork lift truck must be able to withstand load over 4 tons
because machine weight is about 3.8 tons.
B. The size after packed is T-6 & T-6A: 2300 mm (L) X 2020 mm (W) X
2000 mm (H), T-8 & T-8A: 2300 mm (L) X 2818 mm(W) X 2000
mm(H) , Therefore you must pay attention to whether there are any
blockage in moving path or not. Clear all of the blockages before
moving.
C. Adjust the fork life truck to the right position and be aware of
gravity centre of the machine after packed. Machine must be placed
on the load center of fork life truck to avoid machine tilt that will
damage and injure propel.
D. Be careful for the height of fork lift truck when lifting. Do not raise
too high that will generate vibration because of the tilt of the
machine.
E. Have someone instruct the movement when moving machine to
assure security.

3.6 Pneumatic system


3.6.1 The pneumatic system elements control of
followings:
a. Parts catcher (Option)

3.6.2 Air unit

We set the pressure gauge at 4.0 kg/cm2 of the air circuit. When

air pressure below that 2.5 kg/ cm2 point, the ALARM on
operators panel will light and the flash light will work but no
emergency stop will be executed. (It will be very impractical to
stop the machine every time when the air pressure starts to fall
down), so the operator should be very careful when ALARM
happened. He should find the cause of pressure low and shoot it in
the shortest time. If can't be covered in 60 seconds, the NC system
will FEED HOLD the machine.
f. The adjustment procedures of air pressure switch:

The following steps:


1. Turn C.C.W direction and take off set screw (1) of lock plate.
2. Take off the lock plate (2) up.
3. Take a screw-driver insert to pressure adjust button (3),
turn and set the pressure meter (4) had show on 4 kg/cm2
4. Put back the lock plate (2), and attention the hex. socket must
be at the same position with adjust button .
5. Lock set screw of lock plate (1)
g. Main air pressure source supply
The air compressor must be prepared by users, and the main air
source pressure range we set under 5 /2.

3.6.3 The main points to make use of oily water to separate tank:
A. Before to make use tank, fill coolant water about 1/2 height of tank.
Then put the tank behind to base.
B. To adjust flatness of tank.
C. Pour out refuse oil, when collection oil box full loaded.

3.7 Machine Lubrication System


3.7.1 Lubricant & Hydraulic Oil
Lubricant and hydraulic oil should be filled sufficiently before
delivery. But they might have leakage or emulsification during lifted.
So, check whether lubricant and hydraulic oils are sufficient or not
when machine in position. It has to be replaced or filled up if
necessary.
3.7.2 Lubrication
The ability, reliability, and endurance of the machine rely on
excellent lubrication management and the lubrication system.
Ensure that the surfaces where relative motion occurs are well
lubricated, and check the lubricant oil regular. Keep sufficient levels
of lubricant available or replace the new lubricant if necessary. One
can maintain a longer service life for the machine.
NOTE: Using improper lubricants will lead to poor performance and
malfunction of the machine. Keep the lubricant, especially on
the headstock, in a clean condition at all times, this will ensure
that lubrication function properly.

Join the oil-level switch: Which detects the oil-shortage of oil tank
(standard equipment).
Pressure switch: Which detects the damage of pipes.
Alarm: Which alarms while any abnormal happens.
Pressure take off: The discharge volume is precise while working
with piston distributors.
Wireless equipment: Suitable for the future when a factory works
automatically without any body.
Alarm signs: Which shows signs and alarm for informing
operators to supply oil.
3.7.2.2.1 Fill up the lubricant oil
1. The lubricator for standard working time about 4 days must fill
lubricant oil in oil tank one time. The warning alarm will be
showing in CRT and the programming change to single block,
then axial stop. The warning alarm will be continuing if the
warning status is not released even though the power is turned
off / on.
Fill up oil in tank first, press the FEED HOLD and SINGLE
BLOCK keys to release the warning status. The counter will be
reset and start to count once the warning status is released, then
press CYCLE START the programming will be continue.
2. the lubricator counter will be counted every 15 minutes, that oil
puncher will punch oil 10 seconds till the pipe fill oil and the
alarm disappear.

3.8. PREVENTIVE MAINTENANCE


To keep the machine in good service conditions, please follow the
procedures to maintain the machine.
3.8.1 Daily Maintenance
3.8.1.1 Check the oil level frequently. Fill up or refill the oil tank if
necessary.
3.8.1.2 Check the spindle taper bore after finishing the machine. Clean
up the spindle taper bore with the spindle taper bore cleaner, as
illustrated in the following details.
3.8.1.3 Clean up the machine and working area after finishing the work.
Ensure to put a layer of rust-prevent oil on those exposed sliding
surfaces.
3.8.1.4 Stop the machine immediately and find out sources of the problems if
any part of the machine is overheated.
3.8.1.5 Stop the machine immediately and fix the problems before resuming
the machine if any electrical part, such as the connector, switch,
electrical socket and electrical wire, is out of order.
3.8.2 Weekly Maintenance
3.8.2.1 Clean up the air filter with soap water.
3.8.2.2 Ensure the chuck could be clamped onto and released from the spindle
chuck smoothly.
3.8.2.3 Ensure there is no abnormal noise occurs when the machine is
running.
3.8.2.4 Ensure all the pumps work well.
3.8.2.5 Ensure the tool exchange system could be operated smoothly.
3.8.2.6 Ensure the swivel disk of the tool magazine could be rotated
smoothly.
3.8.3 Half-yearly Maintenance
3.8.3.1 Ensure the spindle run out and bearing clearance are within
the specified precisions.
3.8.3.2 Ensure there are no loose nuts and screws.
3.8.3.3 Ensure all the electrical parts, such as connectors, switches,
cables, are in normal service conditions.
3.8.3.4 Check out a11 the insulation resistors. Ensure to keep a
record.

3.8.3.5 Ensure the tool exchanger do not to interfere with the


spindle.
3.8.4 Yearly Maintenance
3.8.4.1 Ensure the push buttons and switches on the control panels
work properly.
3.8.4.2 Remove all the carbon deposited on the electrical relay points
then clean all the electrical relay points with alcohol liquid.
3.8.4.3 Clean up the cutting oil tank then fill up the tank with
recommended oil.
3.8.4.4 C1ean up the hydraulic system, including the tank, and refill
the oil tank. Ensure the setting pressure is normal.
3.8.4.5 Level the machine.

3.9. Notice
3.9.1. Ensure to use the recommended fluids as listed in the oil guide table.
3.9.2. Do not power on the machine if the PCBs of the NC equipment have
been taken out for maintenance.
