Step 4 Add FE port configuration

Description

Add FE port configuration. The default gateway address is the IP address of

the router.

Script

ADD FECFG: MN=132, IP="10.140.15.1", MSK="255.255.0.0",

DGW="10.140.15.2";

Note

The MSOFTX3000 connects to the default router (gateway) through the FE

port, and then communicates with other IP devices through the default router
(gateway). You must correctly set the IP address of the default router
(gateway) of the FE port; otherwise, the MSOFTX3000 cannot
communicate with IP devices.

Step 5 Add CDB function configuration

Description

Add CDB function configuration. In most cases, set Function to SELECT

ALL.

Script

ADD CDBFUNC: CDBMN=103,

FUNC=VDB-1&CGAP-1&JUDGE-1&VEIR-1&AFLEX-1&TK-1;

Note

If you configure two pairs of WCDBs, allocate database functions to the two
pairs of WCDBs according to the load sharing principle. If you configure
only one pair of WCDBs, allocate all database functions to this pair.

Step 6 Add E1 configuration of the WEPI

Description

Add E1 configuration of the WEPI.

Script

ADD EPICFG: FN=1, SN=0, E0=DF, E1=DF, E2=DF, E3=DF, E4=DF,

E5=DF, E6=DF, E7=DF, BM=NONBALANCED;
ADD EPICFG: FN=1, SN=4, E0=DF, E1=DF, E2=DF, E3=DF, E4=DF,
E5=DF, E6=DF, E7=DF, BM=NONBALANCED;
ADD EPICFG: FN=1, SN=5, E0=DF, E1=DF, E2=DF, E3=DF, E4=DF,
E5=DF, E6=DF, E7=DF, BM=NONBALANCED;
ADD EPICFG: FN=1, SN=2, E0=DF, E1=DF, E2=DF, E3=DF, E4=DF,
E5=DF, E6=DF, E7=DF, BM=NONBALANCED;
ADD EPICFG: FN=1, SN=10, E0=DF, E1=DF, E2=DF, E3=DF, E4=DF,
E5=DF, E6=DF, E7=DF, BM=NONBALANCED;

Note

Issue 03 (2007-10-15)

When you add an E1 port to the WEPI in slot 0, the system adds an E1 port
to the WEPI in slot 1 automatically. That is, the system regards the WEPI
in slot 1 as the standby board of the WEPI in slot 0 by default.

E1 port configuration must be consistent with that of the peer end. In this
example, the frame format of the E1 port is the dual-frame format; the
balance mode of the E1 port is the 75-ohm (the E1 port is connected with a
75-ohm coaxial cable.)

Step 7 Set WCKI clock configuration

Description

Set WCKI clock configuration. Set Clock level to Level2 and Work mode
to Automatic.

Script

SET CKICFG: CL=LEVEL2, WM=AUTO, B1P=L1, B2P=L2, L1P=L3,

L2P=L4, B1CST=CLK_E1, B2CST=CLK_E1;

Note

When the MSOFTX3000 provides Message Transfer Part (MTP) links by

itself, you must set clock data; otherwise, MTP links cannot work
normally.

The local office adopts BITS clock reference source.

For different synchronous networking, you must set different clock data
for the system. See related description in HUAWEI MSOFTX3000 Mobile
SoftSwitch Center Configuration Guide for detailed configuration
procedures.

MCC=K'460, MNC=K'00, INNATIONPFX=K'00, NATIONPFX=K'0;

Note

The number of the MSC of the local office and that of the VLR of the local
office:
They define the the number of the MSC and that of the VLR for the
MSOFTX3000 in the PLMN when the MSOFTX3000 works as the visited
mobile switching center (VMSC) or gateway mobile switching center
(GMSC). In this example, because the VLR is embedded in the
MSOFTX3000 (MSC), the number of the MSC and that of the VLR can be
configured with the same number.

Note

NI=NATB,

The local office needs to interwork with network elements both on the core
network side and on the access network side. So you must configure SSN
subsystems on the MSOFTX3000 side, such as SCMG, MSC, VLR, MAP,
HLR, GS, SGSN, GMLC, BSSAP, INAP, and RANAP.

SPC in the command corresponds to the destination signaling point code

(DPC) of the subsystem (the receiver of the local SCCP messages). Each
subsystem needs to be defined with two destination signaling points:
remote SCCP signaling point and local signaling point.

Step 6 Add SCCP GT Group

TRANSLATETYPE="00", NUMPLAN=ISDN, ADDR=K'8613600004,
RESULTT=LSPC2, SPC="001122", GTGNM="LOCAL";

Note

When a subscriber is called, the MSC gets the roaming number from the
HLR to which the subscriber belongs. After the MSC obtains the roaming
number, the HLR sends an SRI_RSP message to the MSC. The MSC GT
address information is contained in the called address of the SRI_RSP
message, and the MSC needs to check whether the MSC GT address is the
local one. If so, the MSC starts paging.
Only when the GT maps to the GT group, the SCCP can obtain the
corresponding translation result.

Step 8 Add a call source.

Note

2-14

When H.248 messages are transmitted between the MSOFTX3000 and a

gateway through the SCTP protocol, you can configure up to 30 H.248
links between the MSOFTX3000 and the gateway.

To ensure reliability and availability, you must configure multiple H.248

links between the MSOFTX3000 and the UMG8900.

In general, if the MSOFTX3000 acts as the server, and multiple H.248

links exist between the MSOFTX3000 and a MGW, it is recommended
that those H.248 links adopt the same local port number.

In general, if the MSOFTX3000 acts as the client, and multiple H.248

links exist between the MSOFTX3000 and a MGW, the local port number
of each H.248 link must be unique.

of the iGWB for that of the BAM
wrongly), you can do as follows:
During the power-on, pull out two
WSMUs and then insert them.

Check if
loading is
successful

Check the status of a board: On

the LMT client, click
Equipment panel >
Equipment management.
Check the running status of a

status of boards on the frame is
normal.

On the Equipment management

interface, the status of a board is

unavailable state. If the switch is not in
this state, use the command MOD LSS
to set the switch to this state. Then reset
the board to reload it.

Conduct CRC check of board

Note

Check the
network
connection

Observe the indicators on the

WIFM. The green Ethernet port
connection indicator "LINK"
should be on, while the yellow
Ethernet port data traffic
indicator "ACT" should flash.

The "LINK" indicator is on when the

physical connection is normal, and is
off in other cases.

When the "ACT" indicator flashes, it

indicates that there is data being
sent/received.

The blinking frequency indicates the

amount of data traffic.

Commissioining H.248 link

On the LMT client, use the IP

message trace function "PING"
to check the communication
between the WIFM and MGW.
If the Ping command is
executed successfully, it
indicates that the
communication is normal.

2-18

In case of failure, check if the Ethernet

cables are correctly connected, if the
WIFM works normally, if devices
connected with the WIFM (such as a
LAN Switch) works normally, and if
the MGW works normally.

Note

Check the
registration
status of the
gateway

On the LMT client, run the DSP

MGW command to check the
registration status of the

displayed, it indicates that the
registration is successful.

If Disconnected is displayed, it
indicates that the MGW has
registered, but currently quits
running. Check if the data
configuration of the MSOFTX3000
and MGW has been modified.

If the data configuration has not been

modified, it is possible that the H. 248
link communication of the Mc
interface is faulty. Check the SCTP
link, analyze the interaction of
messages on the Mc interface, and
take countermeasures.

If Fault is displayed, it indicates that

the MGW has not registered. In this
case, run the LST H248LNK
command to check whether
parameters such as the equipment
name, peer IP address, and peer port
number are correct.

Check the
status of the H.
248 link on
Mc-interface

On the LMT client, run the DSP

H248LNK command to check
the status of the Mc-interface
link. If Valid is displayed, it
indicates that the link is normal.

If the link is abnormal, start the SCTP

message tracing to check if the message
flow is correct and if the contents of the
message is legal. Based on what is
shown in the message tracing, decide
other locating means, such as checking
configured parameters.

2.2 Configuring Data for Interworking with the HLR

Script

ADD N7DSP: DPNM="HLR-1", NI=NAT, DPC="110909",

OPC="001122", STPF=FALSE, ADJF=TRUE;

Note

The MSOFTX3000 connects to the HLR in the direct connection mode. For
the SMC with HLR-1 as the DSP name, set STP flag in the command to
FALSE, but Adjacent flag to TRUE.

Step 2 Add an MTP linkset

Description

Add an MTP linkset. Set Linkset name of MTP to HLR-1 and Adjacent
DSP name to HLR-1.

Script

ADD N7LKS: LSNM="HLR-1", ASPNM="HLR-1";

Note

Because the MSOFTX3000 connects to the HLR in the direct connection

mode, you need to set Adjacent DSP name in the command to the SP index
of the SGSN. Here it is set to HLR-1.

Step 3 Add an MTP route

ADD N7LNK: MN=24, LNKNM="To HLR-1", LNKTYPE=TDM0, E1=0,
TS=1, LSNM="HLR-1", SLC=1;

Note

Because MSOFTX3000 provides 64-kbit/s MTP links to the HLR, you

need to set Link type in the command to TDM 64kbit/s.

Set timeslot number of E1 in the command to the E1 port number of the

WEPI inside the MSOFTX3000.

MTP links cannot occupy timeslot 0 (synchronization timeslot) of each

E1.

Note

DSP name in this command is different from that defined in the ADD
N7DSP command. There is no referencing or referenced relationship
between them.

When the local office uses multiple SPCs, you need to configure OPC in
the command according to actual signaling networking.

Step 2 Add SCCP subsystem numbers

Description

Add SCCP subsystem numbers.

Script

ADD SCCPSSN: SSNNM="HLR-1-HLR",

SPC="110909", OPC="001122";

z

For the HLR, you need to set several SSN codes: HLR and SCMG.

SPC in the command corresponds to the DSP of each subsystem (the

receiver of local office SCCP messages). Each subsystem needs to be
defined with two DSPs: remote SCCP SP and local SP.

Step 3 Add an SCCP global title

Description

Add an SCCP global title. It is used to configure IMSI GT.

Script

ADD SCCPGT: GTNM="HLR-IMSIGT", NUMPLAN=ISDNMOV,

ADDR=K'86139, RESULTT=LSPC2, SPC="110909",
GTGNM="LOCAL";

Note

To realize the location upgrade of mobile subscribers, you need to configure

IMSI GT. When subscribers upgrade their locations, the VLR searches for
the HLR according to the BLR GT obtained through the IMSI number.
Only when the GT maps to the GT group, the SCCP can obtain the
corresponding translation result.

Step 4 Add an SCCP global title

Description

Add an SCCP global title. It is used to configure HLR-NUMBER GT.

Script

ADD SCCPGT: GTNM="HLR-NUMBER", NUMPLAN=ISDN,

ADDR=K'8613907550000, RESULTT=LSPC2, SPC="110909",
GTGNM="LOCAL";

Note

To realize the location upgrade of mobile subscribers, you need to configure

HLR-NUMBER GT. When subscribers upgrade their locations, it is used to
search for the HLR according to the message sent by the VLR to the HLR.
Only when the GT maps to the GT group, the SCCP can obtain the
corresponding translation result.

Step 5 Add an SCCP global title

Description

Add an SCCP global title. It is used to configure MSISDN GT.

Script

ADD SCCPGT: GTNM="HLR-MSIDSN", ADDREXP=INTER,

ADDR=K'861390755, RESULTT=LSPC2, SPC="110909",
GTGNM="LOCAL";

Note

For a subscriber as a callee, you need to configure ordinary GT (MSIDSN

GT). When taking routing information, the MSC searches for the HLR
according to HLR GT obtained by the called MSISDN number.
Only when the GT maps to the GT group, the SCCP can obtain the
corresponding translation result.

2.8 Configuring Data for Interworking with the PSTN

Switch Based on MTP
2.8.1 Overview of Configuration
Typical Networking
When the MSOFTX3000 interworks with the PSTN switch, the application layer uses the ISUP
protocol. For the PSTN switch, ISUP is borne over TDM; for the MSOFTX3000, ISUP is borne
over TDM and IP.
The ISUP protocol on the MSOFTX3000 side is borne over TDM. See Figure 2-9 for typical
networking.

UMG8900

As shown in Figure 2-9, the MSOFTX3000 connects with the PSTN switch through MTP links.
ISUP messages can be transmitted between the MSOFTX3000 and the PSTN switch through
the UMG8900 in the semi-permanent connection mode.
The structure of the protocol stack is ISUP/MTP3/MTP2/MTP1 on both the MSOFTX3000
side and the PSTN side.
For the MSOFTX3000 to interwork with the PSTN switch, you need to configure the following
interworking data on the MSOFTX3000 side:
z

Data for the MSOFTX3000 to interwork with the UMG8900 (See "Configuring MGW 1
Data")

Data between the MSOFTX3000 to interwork with the PSTN switch

Trunk data for the MSOFTX3000 to interwork with the PSTN switch

Implementation Requirements
In this example, it is required to meet the following requirements by configuring the following
data on the MSOFTX3000 side:

If it is found during the self-loop test

that an E1 is abnormal while the other
is normal, it may be that the two E1s
are wrongly connected. Such a case
also needs to be recorded.

If an E1, which is abnormal, becomes

normal while the other E1 is normal, it
may be that the two E1s are
cross-connected. The problem can be
solved by adjusting the cables on the

set up voice channels for interworking with the PSTN switch.
The structure of the protocol is ISUP/MTP3/M2UA/SCTP/IP on the MSFOTX3000 side; the
structure of the protocol is ISUP/MTP3/MTP2/MTP1 on the PSTN switch side.
To enable the MSOFTX3000 to interwork with the PSTN switch, you need to configure the
following interworking data on the MSOFTX3000 side:

Description

Add two M2UA link sets. Set Linkset name to M2UA LinkSet 0 and

Note

Unless otherwise specified, set the linkset service mode to Load-share.

And the service mode of the linkset needs to be consistent with that on the
SG side; otherwise, all M2UA links in this linkset cannot work normally.

Each M2UA link in the same M2UA linkset can only be configured under
the same WBSG. To ensure the reliability of M2UA links, allocate M2UA
links from the MSOFTX3000 to the same embedded SG on different
WBSGs. So you need to configure two M2UA link sets.

Step 2 Add an M2UA link

DSP name in the command to the SP index of the PSTN switch. Here it is
set to PSTN-2.

Step 3 Add an MTP link

Description

Add an MTP link. The SS7 signaling service with WCSU/WBSG module

Note

Because the MSOFTX3000 uses M2UA to bear SS7 signaling traffic on

MTP links, Linkset name of the M2UA in the command cannot be the
same. Here it is set to M2UA LinkSet 0 and M2UA LinkSet 1

2.10 Configuring Data for Interworking with the PSTN

Switch Based on M3UA
2.10.1 Overview of Configuration
Typical Networking
When the MSOFTX3000 interworks with the PSTN switch, the application layer uses the ISUP
protocol. For the PSTN switch, ISUP is borne over TDM; for the MSOFTX3000, ISUP is borne
over TDM and IP.
The ISUP protocol on the MSOFTX3000 side is borne over IP. The structure of the protocol
stack is ISUP/M3UA/SCTP/IP. See Figure 2-11 for typical networking.

2 Networking of the Core Network

Note

Because MSOFTX3000 networks with the UMG8900 in a

non-peer-to-peer mode and the entity type of MSOFTX3000 is
Application Server (AS), you need to set the entity type of the UMG8900
to SG.

Because the interworking of ISUP signaling is achieved between the

MSOFTX3000 and the PSTN switch through the UMG8900, you need to
set the destination entity type of the PSTN switch to SP.

Because the UMG8900 has the signaling transfer function on the signaling
network, set STP flag to TRUE; otherwise, error occurs when you add an
M3UA route using ADD M3RT.

Step 3 Add an M3UA linkset

Description

Add an M3UA linkset. Set Linkset name to To SG1-A and Adjacent entity
name to SG1-A.

Script

ADD M3LKS: LSNM="To SG1-A", ADNM="SG1-A",

TM=LOADSHARE, WM=ASP;

Note

Because the MSOFTX3000 connects to the UMG8900 through M3UA

signaling links that are in the direct connection mode, you need to set
Adjacent entity name in the command to the Destination entity name of
the UMG8900. Here it is set to SG1-A.

Because the MSOFTX3000 interworks with the UMG8900 in a

non-peer-to-peer mode and the MSOFTX3000 acts as an AS, set Work
mode in the command to ASP.

The linkset service mode needs to be consistent with that on the SG;
otherwise, all M2UA links in this linkset cannot work normally. Unless
otherwise specified, set the linkset service mode to Load-share.

Step 4 Add an M3UA route

Description

Add an M3UA route. Set Destination entity name to SG1-A and PSTN-3.

Note

The MSOFTX3000 is connected to the STP switch through the MTP links,
so you must set Link type in the command to TDM 64kbit/s.

Timeslot number of E1 indicates the E1 port timeslot number of the

WEPI inside the MSOFTX3000.

MTP links cannot occupy timeslot 0 (synchronization timeslot) of each

E1.

Note

DSP name in this command is different from that defined in the ADD
N7DSP command. There is no referencing or referenced relationship
between them.

When the local office uses multiple SPCs, you need to configure OPC
according to actual signaling networking.

Step 2 Add SCCP subsystem numbers

As shown in Figure 2-13, the MSOFTX3000 connects to the SCP through the MTP links. The
CAP messages are transmitted between the MSOFTX3000 and the SCP through the SS7
signaling.
The structure of the protocol stack is CAP/TCAP/SCCP/MTP on both the MSOFTX3000 side
and the SCP side.
For the MSOFTX3000 to interwork with the SCP, you must configure the following data on the
MSOFTX3000 side:

Data")

Signaling data for the MSOFTX3000 to interwork with the SCP switch

Implementation Requirements
In this example, it is required to meet the following requirements by configuring the following
data on the MSOFTX3000 side:
z

Two MTP links are set up between the MSOFTX3000 and the SCP.

Normal SCCP connection is set up between the MSOFTX3000 and the SCP.

2.12.2 Script
Adding MTP Signaling Data
Perform the following steps with scripts:
Step 1 Add an MTP DSP.
Description

Add an MTP DSP. Set DSP name to SCP-1 that indicates the SCP switch.

Script

ADD N7DSP: DPNM="SCP-1", NI=NAT, DPC="110912",

OPC="001122", STPF=FALSE, ADJF=TRUE;

Note

The MOSFTX3000 connects to the SCP in the direct connection mode, so,
for the SCP with SCP-1 as the DSP name, set STP flag in the command to
Fault, and Adjacent flag to True.

Step 2 Add an MTP linkset.

Description

Add an MTP linkset. Set Linkset name of MTP to SCP-1 and Adjacent
DSP name to SCP-1.

Script

ADD N7LKS: LSNM="SCP-1", ASPNM="SCP-1";

Note

The MSOFTX3000 connects to the SCP switch in the direct connection

mode, so you must set Adjacent DSP name in the command to the SP index
of the SCP switch. Here it is set to SCP-1.

Step 3 Add an MTP route.

Description

Add an MTP route. Set DSP name to SCP-1.

Script

ADD N7RT: DPNM="SCP-1", LSNM="SCP-1";

Step 4 Add MTP links.

Description

Add MTPs. Set WCSU/WBSG module number to 22, Link name to To

SCP-0, Signaling link code to 0, and adopt timeslot 2 of the No. 5 E1 port of
the WEPI; Set WCSU/WBSG module number to 24, Link name to To
SCP-1, Signaling link code to 1 and adopt timeslot 2 of the No. 0 E1 port of
the WEPI.

Script

ADD N7LNK: MN=22, LNKNM="To SCP-0", LNKTYPE=TDM0, E1=5,

TS=2, LSNM="SCP-1", SLC=0;
ADD N7LNK: MN=24, LNKNM="To SCP-1", LNKTYPE=TDM0, E1=0,
TS=2, LSNM="SCP-1", SLC=1;

Note

The MSOFTX3000 connects to the SCP switch through the 64 kbit/s MTP
links, so you must set Link type in the command to TDM 64kbit/s.

Timeslot number of E1 indicates the E1 port timeslot number of the

WEPI inside the MSOFTX3000.

MTP links cannot occupy timeslot 0 (synchronization timeslot) of each

E1.

Adding SCCP Signaling Data

Perform the following steps with scripts:
Step 1 Add an SCCP DSP.

2-88

Description

Add an SCCP DSP. Set DSP name to SCP-1 and DPC to 110912.

Script

ADD SCCPDSP: DPNM="SCP-1", NI=NAT, DPC="110912",

OPC="001122";

Note

DSP name in this command is different from that defined in the ADD
N7DSP command. There is no reference relationship between them.

When the local office uses multiple SPCs, you must configure OPC based
on the specific signaling networking.

Huawei Technologies Proprietary

HUAWEI MSOFTX3000
Configuration Examples

2 Networking of the Core Network

Step 2 Add SCCP subsystem numbers.

Description

Add SCCP subsystem numbers.

Script

ADD SCCPSSN: SSNNM="MSC-CAP", NI=NAT, SSN=CAP,

SPC="001122", OPC="001122";
ADD SCCPSSN: SSNNM="SCP-SCMG", NI=NAT, SSN=SCMG,
SPC="110912", OPC="001122";
ADD SCCPSSN: SSNNM="SCP-CAP", NI=NAT, SSN=CAP,
SPC="110912", OPC="001122";

Note

For the SCP, you must configure two SSN codes: CAP and SCMG.

SPC in the command corresponds to the DSP of each subsystem (the

receiver of local office SCCP messages). Each subsystem must be defined
with two DSPs: remote SCCP SP and local SP.

Step 3 Add an SCCP global title.

Description

Add an SCCP global title: configure the GT translation data for the
addressing from the MSOFTX3000 to the SCP.

Script

ADD SCCPGT: GTNM="SCP-GT", GTI=GT4, NUMPLAN=ISDN,

ADDR=K'86138, RESULTT=LSPC2, SPC="110912",
GTGNM="LOCAL";

Note

Only when the GT maps to the GT group, the SCCP can obtain the
corresponding translation result.
