RAMAN RESEARCH INSTITUTE

The Raman Research Institute is a premier autonomous institute engaged in
research in basic sciences. It is funded by the Government of India. The
Institute is looking for appointment of Supervisor/Engineer in the Mechanical
Engineering Services Facility and Supervisor in the Electrical Maintenance
Section of the Estate & Buildings Section.
Junior Mechanical Engineer/ Supervisor (Mechanical):
Applications are invited for the post of a Junior Mechanical Engineer [1 Post]
UR [PB-2: Rs.9300-34800; GP: Rs.4600/4200 - Total emoluments at the
minimum of the scale: Rs.36, 255/35, 307].
Essential:
B.E./B.Tech., degree in Mechanical Engineering with a minimum of
55% of marks from a recognized University/ Institute having a minimum
of two years' experience or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering from a
recognized Institute with 4-5 years' experience in R&D activities in
leading national research laboratories/institutes/universities.
Age:

below 35 years

Desirable Skills:
should have in-depth knowledge of Mechanical Engineering CAD &
FEA software (PTC Creo 2.0/Autodesk Inventor/Hyper Works)
should be capable of conceptualizing design and performing preliminary
analysis
should be able to understand the requirement of the end user, come up
with suggestions, determine best option
should be able to translate the non-technical description of the end-user
to technical instructions to be given to the technician and make 3-D
model using CAD
should be able to foresee problems if any are likely to be encountered in
fabrication
should be capable of allotting the machining and fabrication jobs to the
technicians and supervising the shop floor
should be able to advise and guide in critical areas of the jobs

should be able to troubleshoot in case of problems in machining


encountered by staff
should form an interface between the user and the technician
coordinate and supervise mechanical engineering requirements of the
Institute either through in-house and/or through external agencies
should be able to interact with the vendors for any machining activities
that need to be outsourced
should have the knowledge of operation and maintenance of general
machine tools, and of carrying out preventive, periodic maintenance
should be able to independently ensure the smooth and efficient
functioning of the Mechanical Engineering Services
should have good working knowledge in use of computers viz., email,
MS Office, application software

Junior Electrical Engineer/ Supervisor (Electrical):


Applications are also invited for the post of a Junior Electrical Engineer/
Supervisor (Electrical) [1 Post] UR [PB-2: Rs.9300-34800; GP: Rs.4200 Total emoluments at the minimum of the scale: Rs.35, 307/-].
Essential:
(i)

Diploma in Electrical Engineering from a recognized Institute with


a minimum of 4-5 years experience in - HT/LT, DG set protection
& control, switchgear, drives, refrigeration and air-conditioning
etc., in medium or large scale manufacturing/ process industry
or
Candidates with ITI in Electrical trade with 10 years experience in
a supervisory level in a Government research/educational
institution, having knowledge in - HT/LT, DG set protection &
control, switchgear, drives, refrigeration and air-conditioning etc.

(ii)

The Candidate must be holding a valid supervisory license from


Government Electrical Inspectorate.

Desirable Skills:
Good in oral (both in English and local language) and written
communication skills.

Hands on experience in maintenance of modern substations, heavy duty


continuous rotating equipment.
Diagnostics of malfunctioning systems, apparatus, and components,
using test equipment and hand tools, to locate the cause of a breakdown
and correct the problem.
Inspection of electrical systems, equipment, and components to identify
hazards, defects, and the need for adjustment or repair, and to ensure
compliance with codes.
Chalk out and implement periodic preventive maintenance of electrical
installations.
should have working knowledge in use of computers viz., email, MS
Office.

Age:

below 35 years.

Note: (i)

For both the posts, age and experience will be reckoned as on the
last date for receipt of applications.

(ii) Last date for receipt of applications: 6th March 2015.

General Information:
(i)

Age relaxation will be applicable as per Govt., of India rules for the
candidates belonging to SC/ST/OBC/PWD categories.

(ii)

The institute reserves the right to restrict the number of candidates for
interview to a reasonable limit, on the basis of relevant qualification
and experience higher than the minimum prescribed in the
advertisement.

(iii)

Candidate should be self-driven, motivated and have leadership skills


to manage the personnel working with him.

(iv)

Mere fulfilling the essential and desired qualifications will not entitle
an applicant to be called for interview.

(v)

The institute reserves the right to relax any of the above requirements
in exceptional cases and/or in case of persons already holding
comparable position in a University/Research Institution/Central/State
Government/Public Sector Undertakings.

(vi)

The Institute reserves the right, not to fill the post(s) herein advertised.
