Part-I(Theory)
ABOUT THE WORKSHOP:
LATEX pronounced Lah-tech is a document preparation system for high-quality
typesetting. It is most often used for medium-to-large technical and scientific documents but
it can be used for almost any form of publishing. LATEX is not a word processor! Instead,
LATEX separates content from formatting and facilitates portability of documents.
WORKSHOP OBJECTIVES:
This workshop will provide hands on practical experience on Latex. LaTeX is a
document preparation system for high-quality typesetting. It is most often used for technical
or scientific papers writing for journals by researchers, engineers and mathematicians at
large. The typesetting system offers programmable writing features and extensive facilities
for automating most aspects of typesetting. The various features of Latex are:
Typesetting journal articles, technical reports, books, and slide presentations.
Control over large documents containing Sectioning, cross-references, tables and
figures.
Typesetting of complex mathematical formulas.
Advanced typesetting of mathematics with AMS-LaTeX.
Automatic generation of bibliographies and indexes.
Multi-lingual typesetting.
Inclusion of artwork, and process or spot color.
Using PostScript or Meta font fonts.
About Latex Training:
LaTeX is a Software whose aim is to produce the best document that satisfies the
researchers needs. The innovation in the field of LaTeX have driven the technologies to focus
the efficient and effective management of reports and documents spread across multiple
locations. If you are a novice at Latex, this workshop provides a way to learn LaTeX and start
with a ready-made basic template and build on it gradually. It is useful for Mathematicians ,
Computer Scientists , Science, Humanities , Social Sciences and also many Researchers.
Objectives Latex Training:
To provide a Common Platform for Researchers , Academician and Students to
Thesis, Journals and Conference Paper Writing.
To explore technological advances in the design and development of LaTeX.
To highlight current issues and future directions in the field of Report Creation.

Introduction to Latex
What is LaTeX
LaTeX is a document preparation system for high-quality typesetting. It is most often
used for medium-to-large technical or scientific documents but it can be used for almost any
form of publishing.
LaTeX is not a word processor! Instead, LaTeX encourages authors not to worry too much
about the appearance of their documents but to concentrate on getting the right content.
Latex
Thesis writing can be a hard task. One concern is to present the work in a professional
and consistent format. For this purpose, one cannot help praising the Latex type setting
software which is widely used in the mathematical and scientific community.
Latex was created by Leslie Lamport. Although the biggest advantage of Latex is its
use in typesetting mathematical symbols and formulas, it also gives a much more professional
output than many other text-processing software programs. This is only realised when one
wants to maintain consistency in a thesis or automatically generate contents, index, references
etc. There are many advantages of Latex such as being able to typeset in various languages.
Moreover, many top journals and conferences have template papers designed in Latex.
Features
LaTeX is a typesetting system with the features that enhance the formatting of the
documents.
(fairly) Easy
(somewhat) Automated Typesetting
Does mathematical notation and does it well
Used in academic and technical fields
How to pronounce LaTeX? (Lah-tek, or Lay-tek)
A typesetting program, not a word-processor
Designed for producing beautiful books, thesises, papers, articles...
De facto standard for writing academic papers
History of LaTeX
Late 1970s -> 1989: TeX by Don Knuth
Decent typesetting
Same output now as in the future
Low level, but powerful
Frozen development
Starting early 1980s: LaTeX by Leslie Lamport
High level language (macros, really) for TeX
Easy to use!
Current version is Latex2e
Introduction to LaTeX
LaTeX is a family of programs designed to produce publication-quality typeset
documents. It is particularly strong when working with mathematical symbols.
The history of LaTeX begins with a program called TEX. In 1978, a computer scientist by the
name of Donald Knuth grew frustrated with the mistakes that his publishers made in
typesetting his work. He decided to create a typesetting program that everyone could easily
use to typeset documents, particularly those that include formulae, and made it freely
available. The result is TEX.
Knuths product is an immensely powerful program, but one that does focus very
much on small details. A mathematician and computer scientist by the name of Leslie

Lamport wrote a variant of TEX called LaTeX that focuses on document structure rather than
such details.
Why LaTeX
Professional result
Platform, version independent (Unix, Windows)
Pre-set standard formats (for paper, thesis)
Bibliography management
Fast, professional math equations typesetting
Free available
The commands are easy to learn
Never crash, never lose your file
Can compile very big books (unless your document is more than 70,000 pages!)

\begin{proof}
We use the method of completing the square

\begin{align*}
ax^2+bx+c&=a\left( x^2 +
\frac{b}{a}x+\right)+c \\
&=a\left( x^2 + \frac{b}{a}x+
\left(\frac{b}{2a}\right)^2
-\left(\frac{b}{2a}\right)^2 +\right)+c \\
&=a\left( x+\frac{b}{2a}\right)^2 a\left(\frac{b}{2a}\right)^2+c\\
&= a\left( x+\frac{b}{2a}\right)^2\frac{b^2-4ac}{4a}.
\end{align*}
Therefore $ax^2+bx+c=0$ can be rewritten
as
$$
a\left( x+\frac{b}{2a}\right)^2- \frac{b^24ac}{4a}=0,
$$
which can in turn be rearranged as
$$
\left( x+\frac{b}{2a}\right)^2= \frac{b^24ac}{4a^2}.

Taking square roots gives

$$
x+\frac{b}{2a}= \frac{\pm \sqrt{b^24ac}}{2a}
$$
which implies
$$
x=\frac{-b\pm \sqrt{b^2-4ac}}{2a}
$$
as required.

\begin{abstract}
Cloud computing is a technology that uses the internet and central remote servers to maintain
data and applications.
A simple example of cloud computing is Yahoo email or Gmail etc.A style of computing
where massively scalable (and elastic) IT-related capabilities are provided as a service to
external customers using Internet technologies.
\end{abstract}
\section{Introduction}
The analogy is , 'If you only need milk , would you buy a cow?'All the users or consumers
need is to get the benefits of using the software or hardware of the computer like sending
emails etc. Just to get this benefit (milk) why should a consumer buy a (cow) software
/hardware?
\section{Cloud Computing Segments}
Applications: It's all On Demand
On Demand software services
Who is Offering On Demand Software?
International Business Machines (IBM)
Salesforce.com (CRM)
EfroTech.com (HRIS)
Google (GOOG)
NetSuite (N)
Cordys
Taleo (TLEO)
Concur Technologies (CNQR)
\subsection{Cloud Computing Segments}
Accessing cloud technologies requires a thin-client, and the world's most commonly used
thin-client for this purpose is a web browser. This means the vast majority of all applications
on the Internet have some kind of web or application server on which the business logic is
implemented. Currently, most of the money spent on security goes into firewalls and
antivirus solutions, but in the last 10 years the typical target for attacks has shifted from the
network layer to the application layer because the operating systems and services available to
the general public were cut down. As a result, it is now easier to target the application logic
or framework of an application than the actual server behind the hardened network perimeter.
Applications are mostly developed by the businesses themselves and developer s do not have

a common, standard set of secure development policies. This creates a target rich
environment of vulnerabilities to be exploited.
\section{Equations}
The real beauty of \LaTeX is equations. For inline equations like, $\mu(x_1,x_2) = 2 x_1 + 2
x_2$, simply insert the instructions defining the equation between single \verb+$+ signs. If
you want a display equation without a number put the instructions between \verb+$$+'s like
this:
$$\mu(x_1,x_2) = \alpha 2 x_1 + 2 x_2$$
If you want an equation to have a number then you need to use \verb+begin{equation}+ and
\verb+\end{equation}+ for example
\begin{equation}
\theta = \int Mx ~ dx \label{stuff}
\end{equation}
\section{Bibliography and references}
For example a few references added here \cite{RefWorks:100}, \cite{RefWorks:99}.
To create a `bib' file, use your RefWorks and export references in BibTex format. You can
format your references using different publishers style. You need a `bst' file and you have to
replace the default plain style with the publisher bibliography style file.

\section{Conclusion}
Legacy IT absorbs a lot of an agency's available IT budget and is a primary barrier to IT
responsiveness and overall business agility. It's the fundamental reason IT is not flexible,
responsive, and efficient. Cloud computing is an emerging computing paradigm that is real
and becoming progressively more popular. While there are advantages and similarly
challenges to adopting the cloud computing concept, the key consideration provided in this
white paper can be used as a starting point. Adoption of cloud computing symbolizes a major
cultural transformation for both CIOs and CISO and the lines of business each support. In and
effort to better support the agencies' mission, senior IT management need to think freshly

about "make versus buy" sourcing decisions for their IT service delivery capabilities.
The Cloud is going to happen. As we move forward in cloud computing for support to the
mission, the federal enterprise should continue to strengthen formal processes to ensure that
lessons learned from both industry and the government's own successful cloud computing
initiatives are continually examined and broadly adopted across the enterprise
