Knowing your own history represents a step forward. The history of your own people represents
the knowledge, an important part of Romanians.
Diplomatic relations between Romania and Poland were marked by good times, but also less
favorable periods. Romanian diplomats tried to stabilize these relationships over time.
The first chapter focuses on how the Polish state formation. First political formations formed
around cities. In this way, the polish people succeded in subordinating neighbors tribe.
In the tenth century feudal principalities emerged, iko The First ( 960- 992) was the
first leader succeded. So, in nul 966 was founded the independent Polish state.
Polish State is divided between nobles, because the struggle for power between them.
In the sixteenth century it appears equal rights between Catholics and Protestants and in the
seventeenth century there is a crisis in the Polish state social, economic and political. This crisis
is makes the things very complicated, because the external powers will have a word to say in
political feald.

Polish status was partitioned between Austria, Russia and Prussia. Polish State was disbanded.
Poles situation was very difficult because they were unable to regain independence for a very
long time. Poles remained united thanks to culture, Catholic religion and their national language.
Polish political life officially began in 1921, when Poland became a republic by adopting the
new Constitution.

Chapter II contains information on the diplomatic relations between Romania and Poland
between 1919 and 1940. In this chapter are highlighted diplomatic personalities who had a say in
the relations between the two countries. This is evidenced Take Ionescu, the Romanian diplomat
who contributed to the signing of the treaty of friendship and cooperation between Romania and
Poland.
Under this treaty the two countries pledged to help each other if one of them were attacked or
provoked. Diplomatic relations between the two countries were favorable to inceput.Astfel, on
March 26, 1926, was signed a second agreement on cooperation between the two countries. But
Poland has cooled relations with Romania in time. This is indicated by Titulescu in official
documents. Romanian diplomat wanted to keep friendly relations between the two countries. To
achieve this the douatari s representatives met formally several times. In the context of these
meetings they were discussed political and security issues of the two countries.
Poland was the political orientation of the German state, so diplomatic relations between
Romania and Poland have cooled. In this context, there were allegations of infringement of the
Treaty of Friendship and Cooperation signed between the two countries a few years ago. Poland
signed a cooperation agreement with Germany. Romania did not agree at that time a foreign
policy that Germany thus promote Romania and Poland have joined the political and diplomatic
different roads.
Chapter III deals with the policy that led her Poland. This country had a choice between East,
on the one hand, and the West, on the other hand.
Poland was surrounded by enemy countries: Germany to the west, north-east Lithuania, the
Soviet Union and Czechoslovakia to the south east. Only Latvia and Romania had good
diplomatic relations with Poland. Poland was close to Germany in the hope that it will support.
But the intent of Germany, and Hitler was Poland's support. Germany really wanted to weaken
relations that existed between Poland and France.
Chapter IV focuses on the attitude of avut- an opposite Romania Poland. Romania's attitude was
to defend the independence of the country, the country's defense fontierelor heavy and special
circumstances. In official documents state that the protection of human rights and national
defense remains the main foundation of democracy of a country. Poland's current policy, that of
breach of signed treaties with Romania led to a prompt reaction of Romanian diplomacy. Tatata
signed with Poland indicate that Romania will help where it will be attacked by the Soviet

Union. But Poland was in case it was attacked by Germany, although it had signed a pact with
support and neagresivitate. In these conditions, Romania decided not to get involved in this
conflict created.
Romania's decision not to get involved in this conflict was based on repeated infringements of
Poland in connection with boyfriend and srijin treaty that was signed at a time. Romania
considered that it is not a good thing for the country and for citizens framework impicarea in this
conflict between Poland and Germany. Gafencu diplomat stated that the independence of the
country, defending its fontierelor and defend the rights and freedoms of citizens is above than
any alliance because the country is the most important.
Knowing the history of a country I think that is a premise of development. The history of a
country can not be changed, can not be changed. Decisions in those moments can now be
considered good or bad decisions can be considered for Romania. Romanian diplomats tried at
that time to create a favorable climate for the country. Europe's political situation was such that
for any decision diplomatic needed a well-considered strategic advice. Take Ionescu, Nicolae
Tituli or Gafencu are just a few of the Romanian diplomats who had taken important decisions
regarding the future of Romania during this period (1919- 1940).
