Lesson: A New Look
Aims:

To give students practice in extracting information from listening to a text


To present and activate new vocabulary
to practice the new vocabulary
To present and activate new grammatical structures

Objectives: By the end of the lesson the students will be able:


1. to prove in-detail comprehension of the listened text
2. to use vocabulary related to topic: hair and hair-styles
3. to use the new structure have + smth. + done

MOMENTS OF THE LESSON:
Activity 1 Class Management
Aim: to make sure everything is prepared for the lesson
Interaction: T
Time: 1
Procedure: T notes down whos absent, makes sure everybody has the needed material
Activity 2: Warm-up
Aim: to introduce SS into the topic of discussion
Interaction: group work
Time: 3
Procedure:
T gives Ss the pictures with different types of hair and asks Ss to describe their hair.
T asks SS to guess what the theme of the lesson will be.
Activity 3: Pre-listening
Aim: to make SS familiar with the song they are going to listen to
Interaction: individually, PW

Time: 3
Procedure:
T asks students to think of an aspect of their appearance and finish the sentence:
I
really love my ............... If they mention hair, T asks students what they like about their
hair in terms of colour, style, etc
T gets feedback from the whole class.
T then gives SS the first lines of the song they are going to listen to and asks them to
predict what the girl says she loves.
Activity 4: Listening
Aim: to check their predictions
Interaction: individually, T-Ss
Time: 1+ 2
Procedure:
T tells SS they are going to listen to a song I love my hair. While listening Ss have to
write down 2 ways in which the girl likes to wear her hair.
Activity 5: After-listening
Aim: to get students fill in the songs with the missing words
Interaction: PW
Time: 5
Procedure:
T gives the worksheet with the lyrics and asks SS to fill in the blanks with the missing
words.
T gets feedback from the class and plays the song again to check the answers.
Activity 6: Writing
Aim: to introduce new vocabulary about hair styles
Interaction: T-S
Time: 5
Procedure:
T asks S if they know other ways to style their hair. T writes them down on the board.
T shows projects images with different hair styles. Ss write down the new words in their
notebooks.
Activity 7: writing
Aim: to teach and practice new grammatical structures: HAVE +SOMETHING + DONE
Interaction: T- S
Time: 10
Procedure:
T shows an image with a person cutting her own hair and another picture with the same
person sitting down and having her hair cut. T presents the difference between the two
pictures. T asks Ss to give other examples of activities they can do themselves or can
have them done.
T puts Ss to work in pairs. They have to fill in the sentences with words in brackets.
Activity 8: Speaking
Aim: to give Ss practice in speaking using the new vocabulary and grammatical
structures
Interaction: PW
Time: 5 + 5

Procedure:
T gives Ss worksheets with dialogues between a hair dresser and a customer. Ss fill in
with the given words. Then each dialogue is read aloud in front of the others and Ss
check their answers.
Activity 10: Evaluation
Aim: to assess Ss
Interaction: individually
Time: 5
Procedure:
T asks SS to write down what the lesson was about, what new words they have learned
and what aspect of the lesson they are sure to remember.
T gives marks.
T gives homework:
1) For weaker students: Check on the Internet and find other hair styles names.
2) For stronger students: Write a dialogue (10-12 lines) between you as a hairdresser
and a customer who wants to have her hair coloured in pink.
