Analysis on role of corporate financial strategies on operational and financial
performance of Sainsbury. (market demand, competitors)
To research the past and current corporate financial strategic moves taken by
Sainsbury and identify the key findings based on the secondary source of
data.

Aims and Objectives

To critically analyses the internal business environment using relevant models


including Value chain, VRIO model, Swot, stakeholder analysis and ratio analysis
(Profitability ratio, interest cover and gearing)
To critically analysis the external business environment using relevant models
including PESTAL analysis, Porters 5 forces, Product/industry life cycle, BCG
Matrix.
To make recommendation for feasible corporate strategies that can be
implemented by Sainsbury Plc. i.e. ANSOFF and Bowman is most suitable for
Sainsbury.

Chapter 2: Literature review


2.1 Brief introduction to the chapter
2.2 Role of external/ internal business environment analysis by considering the
models like PESTEL, SWOT, Porters 5 forces, BCG matrix, Product and Industry life
cycle etc. i.e Explain each model and what is good or bad about each model.
2.3 Analysis of various finance ratios like Interest cover ratio,, Gross profit margin
and Liquidity ratios of Sainsbury and their role over current and future corporate
financial strategies.
Chapter 3: Research Methodology
3.1 Brief introduction to the chapter
3.2 Review on various research methodologies, designs, approaches and strategies
3.3 Discussion on the suitable research design, methodology and approach that
suits the current research
3.4 Investigations on the current corporate financial strategies of Sainsbury and
review using the quantitative and statistical models.

3.6 Discussion on ethical issues

Chapter 4: Research findings and analysis


4.1 Brief introduction to the chapter
4.2 Analysis of the key findings gathered from secondary sources as discussed in
the research methodology chapter and all the theoretical models like SWOT,
analyzing and explaining what is the strength, weakness, opportunity and treat of
Sainsbury.
4.3 analysis on the financial data by calculating the ratios as mentioned and
compare with the corporate financial strategies as adopted by Sainsbury since last 3
years (Profitability ratio, interest cover and gearing)

5.1 Conclusion and brief summary of the entire research goals, objectives and
questions
5.2 Propose few recommendations based on the key findings, such that Sainsbury
can adopt few strategies to optimize the current corporate financial strategies and
recommend the future scope of the research using the ANSOFF model
