Silva (Administrative Assistance Public Information Officer) entered the Staff Entrance Processing area and smelled a strong odor of Marijuana coming from the direction Where Substance Abuse Counselor Ms. Angela P. Carr (Contract Employee) was standing, Ms. Carr was being processed to enter into the institutional grounds. Lieutenant Silva approached Ms. Carr and Identified himself and again smelled a strong odor of Marijuana coming from a large bag of potato chips that Ms. Carr had beside her. Ms. Carr was asked if the large bag of potato chips ‘was hers and Ms. Carr responded, “Yes.” Ms. Carr was asked if she had any contraband and she said, “yes.” ‘Ms. Cart made a spontaneous statement of, “I have Marijuana, cell phones anid probably more drugs in there.” Ms. Carr then pointed to all the items of property she had with her, to include the large bag of chips. Lieutenant Silva took possession of the large bag containing chips and all the other itemis Ms. Carr had with her and since Ms. Carr is a female, Lieutenant Siva called Female Correctional Officer R. Thomas (Visiting Officer #1), to accompany them to the Visiting Sergeants Office. Once in the Office, Lieutenant Silva called Security Threat Group Sergeant E. Duarte and notified him of Ms. Carr’s spontaneous statement. ‘At approximately 0930 hours, Sergeant Duarte arrived! and introduced himself to Ms. Carr. Sergeant Duarte advised ‘Ms. Carr of her Miranda rights, and asked her if shu understood her rights, Ms. Carr answered "Yes". OIA Criminal Team was contacted, they instructed that a CDCR 989 (Confidential Request for Internal Affairs Investigation) be immediately completed. OIA Criminal Team arrived on grounds and began interviewing Ms. Carr. Inmate Hawes (AC4408, A4-221U) and Inmate Brown (H57809, A1-117L) were identified as conspiring with Ms. Carr in the introduction of contraband. Both Inmate Hawes and Inmate Brown were rehoused in Administrative Segregation. Contraband discovered: 2,025.5 grams of THC 4.46 ibs. 331.1 grams of Meth 11.8 oz. 109.5 grams of Heroin 3.9 oz. 40 Cellular Phones 212.5 grams Tobacco 7.58 oz 409 Pilis-Soma, Xanax, Valium, & Norco (1) Travel size bottle of Crown Royal Alcohol (4) Bottles of suspected cough syrup approximately 2.5 oz each ALARM: Not Applicable USE OF FORCE: No use of force was used in this incident.
