Take Away School Library Services

Due to the school budget cuts, schools were deciding which of the following activities we

should take away from school: New classroom computers and software, art and music education,

or library services. Of course, picking the least important for school is the best option to take

away. The school library services are most likely to be the least important because we are paying

too much for extra books and also the librarian. There is already a public library or bookstore

near you. Researching does not have to be at school libraries. They can be anywhere else like

home. Also, there is a lot more to find on the internet than there is to find in all these different

books. These also take less space than books.

Our school is losing even more money on these libraries because of extra books we do

not need. Instead of having a library, students already have their own reading book to bring.

Also, students sometimes donate books to the classrooms so students can read. It is also not

necessary for the school to have libraries for extra textbooks because each classroom has all the

textbooks they need for each subject.

There isn’t much use of having a school library because there is a public library or a

bookstore near you. Going to these places are a lot more convenient than going to a student’s

school library. Inside libraries and bookstores, they have more of what you need and want. For

example, they have books you can read to study, or they have computers and other things that

can help you do research and study too. They also have more information because they have

more books. For example, the school library has probably a hundred to a couple hundred of

books. Public libraries and bookstores have thousands! Most of the time, public libraries and

bookstores are bigger than the school ones so people would have more space to study. The other

thing is, public libraries are not as strict on schedules as the school libraries.

Another reason is that the library is that it takes up a lot of space that is useless,

especially when we don’t even need it. It is a lot better to make use of this space, when we aren’t

using it anymore. It’s better to use it for something else instead of a library. Probably an area that

is useful for the students. Probably another classroom that might be needed.

Some people usually go to the school libraries during lunch, snack break, or even after

school to study there with other people. They would also go there to wait for their parents and

study there while waiting to be picked up. But the public library nearby is a lot better because

usually, more people are there to help each other and they have better books over at the public

library. Also, during snack break or lunch, they want to use the computers for studying to at the

library. But there are a few computers in most classrooms that students can ask permission to

use.

This is the best way to save money for our school. Removing the school library services

is the best option because it’s the least important. It takes up space, spending money on useless

things such as extra books we do not need, and there are public libraries near you.
