Goa's History and Culture have been recently handled by some young researchers in a neo-orientalist fashion. However, we are fortunate to find post-orientalist handlings that need to be emulated. We have a fine example in the recent post-doctoral study entitled «Outros Orientalismos» (Lisboa, ICS)by Filipa Lowndes Vicente, who has explored the private correspondence between Gerson da Cunha, a Bombay-based Goa of the late 19th century and the Florentine orientalist de Gubernatis.
Filipa Vicente questions and analyses the manipulation of manipulators (elites / cultural-brokers) in the context of the much debated «Orientalism».
