E. Implementation
Despite the high-tide and bad weather condition, the Rotaract Club of Tagum North-Palm City Chapter
(RacTN-PCC) together with the Rotaract Clubs of Mindanao Council successfully concluded the Mangrove
Planting Year 3 of RacTN-PCC in coastal area of Purok 5, Barangay Liboganon, Tagum City on September 14,
2014. This mangrove planting is part of environmental conservation and protection program held annually by
the RacTN-PCC as a renewal of the clubs commitment and to strengthen its support to the triple bottom line
for sustainable development.
In fact, the Rotaractors from Mindanao Council recognizes that environmental conservation and
protection is not only a sole responsibility of the government but a shared responsibility with Nongovernment organizations and private entities. This activity marked the responsibility of the Rotaract Clubs in
greening the environment which is streamlined to mangrove rehabilitation and conservation.
Though tired from the sleepless Mindanao Council Meeting activity on September 13, 2014, the physical
exhaustion of the participants was lightened up seeing the smiles and the warm welcome of the local people.
The participants were very happy for the experience they have had in planting mangroves, reflecting on
what they accomplished in helping the rehabilitation of the coastal resources particularly mangroves. After
the mangrove planting, the participants enjoyed the MASS-BATH prepared by the RacTN-PCC using the FIRE
TRUCK of the City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (CDRRMO) of Tagum City.
