KENMORE BAPTIST CHURCH
1-1 DISCIPLESHIP PROGRAM

This program has been developed for the following reasons:
1. To enable Christians to grow as disciples of Jesus Christ
2. To develop doctrinal and moral discipline
3. To increase commitment to Jesus Christ and His church
4. To give spiritual direction
5. To aid in preparation for God-glorifying ministry
This is achieved in this course through the placing of a more
mature Christian alongside a less mature Christian so that they
might challenge, encourage and assist each other in their spiritual
walk with God. While this process has many advantages wrong
attitudes existing in either party can lead to problems such as:
1. Legalism and authoritarianism concerning how one should
live
2. A worldly class system emphasising superiority in the
faith
3. Divisive dominance and control of peoples lives
This is not what this program is about. We believe that the Holy
Spirit must essentially be the discipler of every Christian. The
reason that two people might come together in a discipleship
program is that they could help each other grow in the faith through
mutual ministry, as the Holy Spirit works in both their lives. Each
Christian must be finally accountable to God alone for their
personal spiritual life.
We do not therefore encourage any kind of overt pressure on those
undertaking this program to conform to some standard apart from
that clearly laid down in the notes. Even then it must always be an
individuals right to decide their own response to the requirements
of the program.
We desire that change and growth in a persons life be as a result of
their own desire rather than due to the pressure from another.
If at any time you wish to talk over this program and its
requirements, please do not hesitate to contact the pastors of the
church, who would be always willing to assist. May God bless you
in your journey to maturity...

INTRODUCTION
Hi, its great to have you as part of the 1-1 Discipleship Program of
Kenmore Baptist Church. We take very seriously the commission
of Jesus Christ to His first disciples found in Matthew 28:18-20,
where He says:
All authority in heaven and on earth has been given
to Me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations,
baptising them in the name of the Father and of the
Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey
everything I commanded you. And surely I am with
you always, to the very end of the age.
The making of disciples of Jesus Christ is to be the top priority
of the church. Your willingness to undertake this training program
tells us that you too see this as highly important.
You may be wondering what it means to be a
disciple of Jesus Christ. Without becoming too
technical, it basically means that one is prepared to
follow and live out the example of Jesus Christ in
their own life. It means learning over a period of
time the disciplines of life that produce in you
Christ-likeness.
There have been many descriptions of a disciple
over the years, but two that I have found very
helpful are included to help you understand what
the Bible tells us a disciple is.
The marks of a disciple:

What are we aiming at when we talk about making disciples? Let
me mention a number of characteristics that I have observed over
the years. I am not claiming that this list is complete, or that every
disciple will display the full range of qualities; but at least we
should know what we are hoping and praying to achieve. Let me
put it in the form of questions that we need to ask.
1. Are you willing to serve? This was a repeated lesson that
Jesus had to teach His status-seeking disciples, especially
when He humbled them dramatically by washing their feet.
(John 13; Mark 10:35-45)

2. Are you learning to listen? When Simon Peter was full of

bright ideas on the Mount of Transfiguration, God told him
to listen to his Son. (Luke 9:35) When Martha was
impatiently bustling around preparing a meal whilst Jesus
was talking, she was gently rebuked for not being like Mary
who was sitting quietly listening to the Master. (Luke
10:41)
3. Are you willing to learn? When Jesus spoke about his
coming sufferings and death, Peter blurted out, God forbid,
Lord! This shall never happen to you. The stinging reply
was something that Peter never forgot. (Matthew 16:22)
4. Are you willing to be corrected? How well do you receive
honest criticism, when others speak the truth in love?
(Matthew 18:15)
5. How well do you submit to those who are over you? (1
Thessalonians 5:12; Hebrews 13:17) Are you willing to do
this, even when you dont understand all the reasons why,
or when you dont naturally enjoy what you are being asked
to do?
6. Can you share your life with others, in open and honest
fellowship? (1 John 1)
7. Are you learning humility? Can you rejoice with those who
rejoice, and be genuinely glad when others are blessed in
some way or other? (Philippians 2:3)
8. Are you learning to examine your own life before criticising
others? (Matthew 7:1-5)
9. Do you know your weaknesses? Are you learning to
overcome them through the grace of God?
(2 Corinthians 12:9)
10. Are you a perfectionist? This will lead you into selfrighteousness, self-condemnation, self-pity, or a judgmental
spirit. We all make many mistakes (James 3:2; 1 John
1:8-10). Are you learning to accept yourself, as God
accepts you in Christ - just as He is?
11. Are you able to forgive? (Matthew 18:21)

12. Have you stickability? Or do you give up easily? How do

you handle discouragements?
(Ephesians 6:10; 2 Corinthians 4:7)
13. Can you be trusted? (1 Corinthians 4:2) Are you reliable?
Will you get on with a task without constant nagging? Do
you trust others, even when they have disappointed you and
let you down?
14. Do you mind your own affairs? Or do you always want to
pry into the lives of others, becoming a busybody or even a
gossip? (John 21:21; 1 Timothy 5:13)
15. Do you do little things well? (Colossians 3:17)
16. How do you use your leisure? Do you see that all your time
is a gift of God to be used wisely? (Ephesians 5:15-17)
17. Do you aim first and foremost to please God? Or do you
seek the praise of others, or gratify your own desires?
(John 12:43; 2 Corinthians 5:9)
18. Are you quick to obey when God speaks to you? When
fisherman Peter obeyed instantly the instructions of Jesus
on the Sea of Galilee, however foolish those instructions
may have seemed to him, there were astonishing results
(Luke 5:4-9). This proved a vital lesson (which had to be
learned more than once) in the years ahead.
19. Have you faith in God, especially when there may be no
outward signs to encourage your faith? (Luke 18:1-8; Mark
11:12)
20. Where is your security? Are you willing to trust ultimately
in the love and faithfulness of God, or do you look for more
temporal and material securities first and foremost?
(Matthew 6:19-34) Are you willing to move as the Spirit
leads you on, to make adjustments and changes, or do you
resist change?
21. Have you a clear understanding of Gods priorities for your
life? (Acts 6:2-4)

A second description of a disciple:

1. Disciples are learners - open and teachable.
Proverbs 9:8-10; Matthew 4:19; John 6:60-66
2. Disciples put Christ first in all areas of their life.
Matthew 6:9-13, 24, 33; Luke 9:23;

3. Disciples are committed to lives of purity and are taking
steps to separate from sin.

4. Disciples have a daily devotional time and are developing
in their prayer lives.

5. Disciples demonstrate faithfulness and desire to learn and
apply the Word of God through hearing it preached and
taught, reading it frequently, Bible study, Scripture memory
and meditation on the Scriptures.

6. Disciples have hearts for witnessing, giving their testimony
clearly, and presenting the gospel regularly with increasing
skill.

7. Disciples attend church regularly to worship God, to have
their spiritual needs met, and to make a contribution to the

8. Disciples fellowship regularly with other believers,
displaying love and unity.

9. Disciples demonstrate servant hearts by helping others in

practical ways.

To achieve this level

of maturity
takes commitment and time
- it doesnt happen overnight.
Be patient
- a disciple is a person
under reconstruction!
When a person first becomes a Christian, they need help in being

sure of their position in Christ (assurance). They also require
assistance in regularly practising the disciplines of the faith
(consistency). As they mature further, their faith becomes the
natural basis of their life (stability), so that the qualities of Jesus are
clearly evident (Christlikeness). At this point in their spiritual
development they take initiatives in reaching others for Christ
(independence) and eventually take on assisting others in their
spiritual development (reproduction).
Of course, this whole process requires a three-part process:
1. Personal 1-1 Discipleship
2. Group discipleship
3. Personal study and development.
That is why you will be encouraged to add to your 1-1 Discipleship
Program, personal assignments each week between meetings, and
involvement in a small group where you meet regularly with
other Christians for encouragement and growth.

FACTS, FAITH
AND FEELINGS
This old illustration demonstrates that Christian faith does not
depend upon our feelings, which are always changing, but upon the
facts of what God has done through Jesus as recorded in the Bible.
These facts never change.
Three people are walking along the top of a narrow

wall. The first person is called Facts, the second
Faith and the last, Feelings. As long as the middle
person, Faith, keeps their eyes on Facts, they can walk
securely and steadily on the wall. If Faith turns
around and looks at Feelings over their shoulder, Faith
starts to wobble and feel insecure.
So in the Christian faith, solid faith is based on the
facts of Jesus as learned in the Bible. If we go too
much by feelings, our faith will always be unsteady
and weak.

A STORY OF BLONDIN
Blondin was a famous trick-stunt high-wire artist in America.
Some years ago he stretched a wire rope across the top of Niagara
Falls and walked across it. Next he announced that he was going to
wheel a person in a wheelbarrow across the wire. A newspaper
reporter came to interview Blondin about this proposed stunt.
Do you think I can do this great feat? Blondin asked the reporter.
I really believe you can, replied the reporter. I think you are the
greatest stunt artist of all TIME! You believe I can do it? asked
Blondin, Well then, you get in the wheelbarrow!
There is a great difference between believing something or in
someone theoretically, and being willing to commit your life into
his or her hands by faith.

1. WHAT IS THE GREATEST ADVENTURE OF LIFE?
To know Jesus Christ personally as Saviour and Lord is the
greatest privilege and adventure of life.
We can have new life in Jesus Christ a. An abundant (full and overflowing) life - John 10:10
b. A fruitful life - Galatians 5:22-23, John 15:8, Matthew
4:19
2. WHAT IS THE GREAT CHALLENGE OF TODAY?
The great challenge of today is for us to be part of the
solution to Malaysias problems, rather than part of the
problem. How?
a. New life in Jesus Christ.
b. Imparting that life to others.
c. A life of victory even amidst problems and challenges.
3. WHAT IS THE GREAT PROBLEM IN THE WAY?
We can never live the Christian life in our own strength
because of sin. Paul identifies in Corinthians two kinds of
people
a. NATURAL PERSON
(The non-Christian)

Paul goes on to say in 1 Corinthians 3:1-3; Romans 7:15-24 and

Galatians 5:16-17 that whilst our relationship with Christ is secure,
fellowship can be broken at any time by wilful disobedience.
Christians in this state are described as carnal, fleshly or selfcentred.

Only the spiritual person lives the Christian life as it should be

4. WHAT IS THE GREAT SOLUTION GOD HAS

PROVIDED?
Paul discovered the solution to living the abundant Christian
life:
a. Draw on the power of Christs resurrection life Romans 7:29.
b. Walk in the power of the Holy Spirit - trusting God
despite circumstances - Romans 8:4-5.
c. Claim Gods solution by practising Spiritual breathing EXHALE - confess your sins
INHALE - claim the fullness of the Holy Spirit by faith.
What does CONFESSION mean? It means, to agree with God
concerning:
a. Our Sin.
b. His forgiveness.
c. Our need to repent, ie turn away from sin to Gods way.
Our FORGIVENESS is based on Christs death for our sins.

a. Christ died on the cross and shed His blood for our sins.
b. As a Christian, ALL your sins have been forgiven.

In 2 Timothy 3:16 Paul said that the Scriptures are profitable for:

This can be illustrated as follows:

1. Teaching shows you the path to walk on.
2. Reproof shows you where you have strayed from the path.

4. Training in righteousness shows you how to stay on the
path.
Also consider the five fingers on your hand. You need to use all
fingers in order to grasp something firmly. If you consider each
finger as a method of studying Gods Word the Bible, and apply all
these methods to studying His Word - you will grasp firmly its
concepts.

1. WHAT IS A QUIET TIME ... Q.T.?
Definition:
Q.T. is a time alone with God where you can

talk with God through prayer and God can
talk to you through His Word. In brief - it is
personal fellowship with God.

There are a number of very significant aspects of the church that

should be understood as part of your 1-1 Discipleship Program.
These are listed along with passages of Scripture you should read.
Once you have studied the passages you should discuss each with
your discipler.
1. Everyone who is part of true church is one in Christ
Ephesians 2:11-22.
2. There are many goals of the church including:
a. Unity
- Ephesians 4:1-6
b. Maturity - Ephesians 4:7-16
c. Purity
- Ephesians 4:20-32.
3. The church observes two major ordinances of:
a. The Lords Supper or Communion
- Exodus 12; Matthew 26:26-30; Mark 14:22-26;
Luke 22:17-20; 1 Corinthians 11:23-29; 30-34
Here believers eat the bread (symbolising Christs
broken body) and drink the grape juice (symbolising
Christs blood - shed for the remission of our sins).
They look back to the cross, inward in personal
evaluation of their spiritual lives and forward
anticipating Christs return.
b. Baptism - Matthew 28:19-20; Romans 6:3-4
Here believers in a public way identify with Christ in
His death, burial, and resurrection; give thanks to God
for their salvation; and give witness to their desire to
submit to the Lordship of Christ and serve Him. It is an
act of obedience to Christs command.
4. Each Christian has been given a personal spiritual
motivational gift to be exercised through the gift of a
ministry upon which God will evidence gifts of
manifestations - Romans 12:1-8; 1 Peter 4:10; Ephesians
4:11; 1 Corinthians 12:27-30; 1 Corinthians 12:7-11. These
gifts are given as God decides for the good of the church
and its people - not for self-edification. The best way to
discover and refine ones giftedness is to SERVE! On
completion of Process 1 and 2 training you can be taken
through the S.H.A.P.E. test to clarify your gifting.
5. Every Christian is necessary and needed for the work of the
church - 1 Corinthians 12:12-31.
6. Love and unity are absolute essentials for the proper
functioning of the church - 1 Corinthians 13; Philippians
2:1-11; John 13:3-5; John 17:21.

Today more then ever people are crying out for love. Love is
recognised as a persons greatest need.

loving, rather than the worthiness of the object being loved.
It is love in spite of rather than love because of.

How then can we love others unconditionally with AGAPE?

you can watch and see how Gods strength will enable
you to live victoriously.
Dear Father,
I need You. I acknowledge that I have been in control of my life;
and that, as a result, I have sinned against You. I thank You that

Read Ephesians 4:1 - 6:24.

Notice in these chapters that you are called to live a life worthy of
the calling you have received (4:1) and to grow up into Him who is
the Head, that is, Christ (4:15). You are also called to live
differently now that you are a Christian (4:17), by putting off
your old life (4:22), being made new in the attitude of your mind
(4:23), and putting on a new life of holiness in Christ (4:24) in
the power of the Holy Spirit.
It is by willing, prayerful and persistent obedience (action) to the
requirements of Scripture, that Godly patterns of behaviour are
developed as a way of life. When you are convicted by the Holy
Spirit that certain actions are wrong, you should put off such
actions and put on those actions God suggests. For example
Ephesians 4:25 says that we must put off lying and we must put
on truth-telling. This is to be done relying on Gods power. By
doing this, change in behaviour will occur and become permanent
in your life.

careful organization. A carefully prepared testimony, given
in the power of the Holy Spirit, can be of immediate and
effective use in nearly every witnessing situation. It should

a. Ask the Lord to give you wisdom and guidance as you

c. Emphasise after if you became a Christian as a small

d. Begin with an interesting attention-getting sentence and
close with a good conclusion. Include relevant thoughtprovoking secular facts and experiences.
e. Write in such a way that others will feel associated with
you in past and present experiences.
f. Give enough detail to arouse interest.
g. Use at least one, but at the most two, Scripture verses.
h. Edit carefully and rewrite as necessary before final
draft.
i. Choose something characteristic of your experience that
is of general interest to non-Christians. Build your own
testimony around a theme, for example - success, lifes
best, money as the answer, dreams of the future, Gods
personal plan for me, what I want most out of life,
desire to help others, etc.
j. Emphasise the fact that the thing that made the
difference in your life was accepting Christ as Saviour
and making Him Lord and Master of your life. Keep in
mind that someone else should be able to trust the Lord
through your testimony. Tell how He entered your life.
k. Remember, the same Christ lives in you whether you
trusted Him early or later in life. Do not be concerned
that your testimony be exciting, just that it be interesting
and real.
l. Be realistic. Christ does not eliminate all the problems
of life but enables you to live them out with peace and
confidence: I am with you always.
m. Be positive, not negative, from start to finish.
n. Give your testimony in a group situation the same as
you would for an individual.

Things NOT to do
Avoid the following when writing and giving your testimony:
1. Making statements that reflect negatively on the church and
other organisations or people.
2. Mentioning denominations, especially in a derogatory way.
3. Preaching at people. Use your natural speaking voice. This
is a testimony, not a preachimony.
4. Using clichs. People who work together for a period of
time on a team or have been Christians for a long time, tend
unwittingly to copy one another and use terminology not
commonly used outside of Christian circles.
5. Using too many of the same terms as others, eg.
- straight-laced, sober and sad;
- fantastic, exciting and great;
- peace, purpose and happiness;
- changed.
6. Speaking with such little volume that you cannot be heard
readily by all present.
7. Speaking in glittering generalities using words that are
meaningless to non-Christians. Terms like salvation,
saved, born again and conversion need to be defined
if used. Terms like glorious and hallelujah are so
ridiculed in some areas that you would do well not to use
them at all.
8. Using poor posture or exhibiting nervous habits (especially
with your hands).
9. Talking on the way to or from your seat.
10. Being long-winded and using unnecessary words (adhere
strictly to the time).

HOW TO SHARE YOUR TESTIMONY

1. Share your testimony with loving enthusiasm in the power
of the Holy Spirit (Ephesians 5:18).
2. Speak loudly and clearly in a natural, relaxed tone of voice.
3. Avoid mannerisms when you are speaking such as rubbing
your nose, jiggling coins in your pocket, swaying, clearing
your throat and using uhs and ahs.
4. Avoid arguing and other high-pressure methods of getting a
decision for Christ. Remember, people are born of the
Spirit, not through persuasiveness or logic of people,
though God may use both.
5. Smile often! Ask the Lord to give you a happy, radiant
countenance.
6. Memorise your testimony and practice it until it becomes
natural.
7. Use all or portions of your three minute testimony before,
during or after your presentation of Knowing God
Personally.
The following is an example of a testimony:

I have always regarded life as something to be lived.
Much like a fun park, where every last bit of excitement
and entertainment was to be extracted - after all you
have got to get value for money. I used to go for the
fastest, the most dangerous, and most demanding rides,
in the hope that I could achieve a new high. This was my
life.
It wasnt until I suffered several personal
disappointments and struggles, that I faced the reality of
the shallowness of my life. It was like being stuck on the
merry-go-round while others seemed to be on the roller
coaster having so much fun (so I thought) Here I was
going up and down emotionally, spinning in circles, but
going nowhere.
I had lost my job, and a special personal relationship had
abruptly come to an end. I felt empty, directionless,
frustrated and hurt.

A guy at work, a Christian in fact, had been trying to talk

to me about my life, and the fact that God had created us
to have a personal relationship with Himself, and that this
relationship was the only way to really ultimately
experience fullness of life. Well, I had heard some of this
kind of stuff earlier in my life when I attended a Sunday
School and Youth Group - but had thrown it all aside for
more relevant and exciting things when I left school. But
now I couldnt get his words out of my mind. They plagued
me. As strange as it may seem, this guy got in contact
with me when he discovered I had lost my job. He came
around to my place and spent several hours listening to my
story, talking with me about his view on life. He shared
with me how we can know God through Jesus Christ, who
was sent to this world to pay the punishment of death for
peoples disobedience in turning against God and doing
their own thing. I learned that God really loved me and
wanted the very best for me. That this love was
demonstrated in the death of Jesus Christ.
He shared with me a couple of Bible verses that talked
about a full and overflowing life in Jesus Christ - John
10: 10 and that if I were to seek first Gods Kingdom, all
other things I needed would be given to me Matthew
6:33.
He told me that if I wanted to experience this new and
full life I would have to confess to God that I had been
going my own way, admit that this was wrong, and turn
around my life in His direction.
Finally I had to believe that this was only possible
through Jesus Christ - His life, His death on a cross, and
His being raised from the dead - all for me.
What a challenge. This was all so new to me. Well, I did
just that, and I want to tell you today that what this guy
said was totally true. It is so sad that I had to fall apart
before I would listen. It is hard to explain what
happened.

I didnt have an emotional experience as some apparently

do, but I knew that I had been forgiven. I knew that I
was starting a new life. My guilt was gone and I had a new
outlook and motivation within me.
What a change has taken place in my life. It has been
some time since becoming a Christian. I have been
through some rough times, but I am growing up and
maturing. Through the help of other Christians, through
Bible study, through prayer, and through helping other
people I have found a whole new depth to living. I now
know that many people are just like I was - laughing on
the outside, but desperately empty and crying out on the
inside. I now know Who I am? What I am here for?
and Where I am going? There is a new level of
excitement in my life - that of becoming what God really
intended me to be. It is now my constant desire to share
what I have discovered, with others, in the hope that
they too will find real life.

THE GREAT COMMISSION

Jesus said, All authority has been given to me in heaven and on
earth. Go therefore, and make disciples of all the nations, baptising
them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit,
teaching them to observe all that I commanded you; and lo, I am
with you always, even to the end of the age Matthew 28:18-20.
Christs Great Commission is the greatest PLAN ever given to
men, by the greatest PERSON who ever lived, concerning the
greatest POWER ever revealed and with the greatest PROMISE
ever recorded.

WHO GAVE IT?

Jesus Christ gave it, accompanied by the promises of 1 John
4:4 and Matthew 16:18. It does involve ALL Christians.
2.
WHAT IS THE GREAT COMMISSION?

The Great Commission is a call to ACTION, not an option but
an imperative. Given in many places - Matthew 28:18-20;
Mark 16:15-16; Luke 24:46-47; John 20:21-23; Acts 1:8
Two aspects
a. Proclaim the gospel to ALL people EVERYWHERE
b. Make disciples who will in turn proclaim the Gospel - 2

SHARING CHRIST BY
WORD AND ACTION
To successfully complete your 1-1 Discipleship Training and begin
the process of reproduction, you are now to minister the love of
Christ to others by word and action. Accomplish two things with
your discipler:
1. Minister to someone with a need
2. Share your faith with a non-Christian.
In order to do this you and your discipler will need to go through
and practice how to share the Knowing God Personally booklet
and then arrange a meeting with a non-Christian in order to share
your faith (including your testimony). In addition, you will need to
contact the Pastor of Pastoral Care to gain information as to needs
in the fellowship or local community so as to assist in meeting
those needs. You may even in this area have the opportunity to
share your testimony or Knowing God Personally.

AN OVERVIEW
OF THE EVANGELISM PROCESS
(See chart 1)
The evangelism process is essentially in three phases.

1. CULTIVATION (preparing the soil)
Here we work at meeting peoples needs, building
relationships, earning the right to be heard, entering
peoples lives through loving caring service. This phase
challenges the heart or emotions.
2. SOWING (planting the seed)
Here we share the reason behind our loving, caring concern
- that is the reality of Christ in our lives. We tell people of
our personal testimony and how they can know God
personally through Jesus Christ. This phase challenges the
mind or intellect.

3. HARVESTING (picking the crop)

Here we encourage (gently and sensitively) people to
receive Christ into their lives and so enter a new
relationship with God. This phase challenges the will or
volition.
We must remember that while we are working at caring for people
and sharing our faith, God is providing the platform on which our
efforts will ultimately make sense. Through His Spirit He is
revealing to people the fact that a personal, all-powerful, intelligent
God is behind all we see (Romans 1:18-32). He is convicting
people of sin, righteousness and judgment. He brings people to
salvation and even causes their growth.
We should remember that people have different levels of
understanding of spiritual matters and so we must be sensitive to
meet them where they are and not make assumptions.

When you discern (through observation and the leading of Gods

Spirit) that a person is ready to hear the Gospel of Jesus Christ,
begin to share the Knowing God Personally booklet.
HOW TO SHARE
THE KNOWING GOD PERSONALLY
BOOKLET
Always spend time asking questions of the people to be shared
with, that allow you to know about them, enter their lives, show
that you care and are interested. Be aware that you will experience
both psychological and spiritual opposition to sharing your faith.
In faith, trust God and rely on His power to overcome this
opposition. The Booklet Knowing God Personally is written to
overcome much of the pressure you will experience in sharing your
faith. Your major initial task is to turn the general conversation to
Christ. Think up ways in which you could introduce Christ into the
conversation and then how you could invite people to go through
the booklet with you.
Some guidelines for sharing:

1. Always be sensitive to the person, and reliant on the Holy
Spirits leading.
2. Read the booklet with the person- aloud, clearly, and slowly
- but not mechanically.
3. Remember you are not sharing principles but Christ.
4. If real questions arise - answer them briefly. If red herring
questions arise - defer answering until after the presentation
by saying, thats a good question, can I talk about that after
we have read this booklet?
5. If the person doesnt seem to be responding ask: Is this
making sense to you?
6. Hold the booklet where it can be seen clearly. Use a pen to
focus attention on key points.
7. If sharing in a group, give booklets to each person.
8. If only one person in a group is interested, share privately.

9. When you come to the prayer and the person wants to pray,
make sure they understand what they are doing and allow
them to decide how this is to be done.
10. If a person does not pray to receive Christ, assure them of
your availability for further counsel.
11. If interruptions occur, remain cool, relaxed and calm. Its no
big deal - God is still in control. If you relax the other
person will also. After the interruption is through, go back
and review the points covered, then continue. If it is
inappropriate to continue, you could arrange another
meeting, or leave the booklet.
12. Make sure you carefully explain what a decision to come
under the Lordship of Christ really means. Share with the
person Luke 14:25-33. Once having explained this passage,
ask the person any of the following questions: What do
you think it means to receive Jesus Christ as Lord? What
do you think it means to become a Christian?
13. If the person is positive but hesitant, ask them What one
thing would prevent you giving your life to Christ right
now? Share with them.
