The Light Princess is Tori Amos first musical, a "dark fairy tale about grief, rebellion and the power of love" based
on a 19th century fairy tale by George Macdonald.
With book and lyrics co-written by Tori Amos and Samuel Adamson, the story centres around teenage princess
Althea of Lagobel who lost gravity when refusing to mourn over her mothers death and is therefore bound to float
above ground. When war breaks out Althea, pushed by her father to come to ground and take responsibility, flees
only to fall in love with the rivalling kingdoms prince.
The 2CD album includes the complete music, recorded entirely under studio conditions to highest standards over
a period of almost 2 years. As special bonus it includes two songs from the musical performed by Tori herself for
the very first time.
Album will come out in standard brilliant box version with 4p booklet and deluxe edition hardcover book including
additional photos and the complete libretto aimed specifically at Tori's dedicated fan base.

Overview:Ever since the release of her debut album Was Right All Along in 2009, Allison Weiss' world has been on fire. The
album gained immediate notoriety with major media spotlighting Allison's use of the then brand new concept of crowdfunding.

often comes with making a major life change thats necessary but nerve wracking nevertheless. Then theres Back To Me,
which is the kind of hopeful pop song with upbeat melodies but heartbreaking lyrics about the one who got away and, sadly,
isnt ever coming back. Most striking is the album's anthem and standout single, "Who We Are," a complicated and cognizant

TORONTO BASED FOUR piece Coney Hatch were one of

Canadas brightest hopes during the mid-eighties. They
impressed fans and critics alike with their rambunctious brand of
melodic hard rock, a sound imbued with a certain, some might
say typically Canadian, quirkiness. Catchy, for sure, but also
containing twists and turns that suggested the band had been
students of a number of hard rockin maple leaf acts from April
Wine to the riff hungry swagger of Triumph and all points in
between.
Friction was the bands third and, as it turned out, their final
album. It was a record designed to infiltrate the mass market,
with catchy hooks and a selection of punishing riffs. Issued in
1985 and crafted by renowned British producer Max Norman
(Ozzy Osbourne, Y&T, Lynch Mob) the record was received with
great critical enthusiasm, but hit a brick wall at their record
company. With Def Leppard and Bon Jovi receiving major
promotional pushes, Coney Hatch were sidelined and left,
without the financial budget, to fight their own corner.
It was a crushing disappointment, leaving the band in a state of
confusion and, ultimately, unable to carry on. Their legacy,
however, continues to grow, with many citing Friction as their
finest and, possibly, one of the best albums released that year.
Revisit the likes of This Aint Love, Fantasy and Burning Love
for proof positive that this record delivered on all fronts.

question are Oliver Gannon and Bill Coon, two of the best
guitarists in the country. Or anywhere, for that matter. Their first
album together, Two Much Guitar, recorded ten years ago now,
saw the jazz veterans sharing the spotlight. This was no duelling
guitar concept. No one was trying to outdo the other. It wasnt a
competition. It was a total and tasteful musical collaboration; they
just happened to play the same instrument. The name was a
perfect fit, too. A play on the classic Wes Montgomery album, So
Much Guitar but also a bit of an inside joke.
This time around there was some conferring on tunes, but not a
whole lot more than that. He calls his work with this quartet
effortless. The fact were not having to have our eyes glued to
the music, I really like that kind of thing in jazz. The less I have to
read, the more I like it! The repertoire is a nice collection of
standards with three originals thrown in for good measure. Sassy
(based on the changes for Gershwins S Wonderful) was penned
by Gannon for his opera-loving cat, while Tones for St. Joan
(based on Come Rain or Come Shine by Harold Arlen) and
Blues for O.G. are Coon compositions. Half of the standards are
Duke Ellington numbers for no reason other than theyre great
tunes the band loves to play.

iteration of one of the most durable and intoxicating outfits in jazz

With my band members all living and working in the New York
City area, where Ive also lived since 2007 because its a
musically rich and inspiring environment, says Smith, this group
can be organized on a moments notice. Steve Smith and Vital
Information NYC Edition is a lot of fun to play with and is a highenergy, creative jazz unit. By combining all of these New York
players into one group I now have the option to play the music of
all three groups. We find this quite interesting and exciting and
have a wonderful time playing the music.

THERES NO DOUBT that the mid-eighties were pretty much

ruled by an exciting clique of Los Angeles based hard rock
bands. Everyone from Mtley Cre, Great White, Dokken and
Quiet Riot were breaking records in one way or another, but it
was five piece RATT who really condensed all that was truly
exciting about the scene when their debut album Out Of The
Cellar exploded at MTV, radio and retail, giving then a double
platinum album and a reputation second to none.
Touring non-stop, the band were quickly ushered back into the
studio via a Hawaii song writing retreat - for their follow up
album, the equally impressive Invasion Of Your Privacy.
Produced by Beau Hill, who masterminded the previous record,
the music kept to the same ingredients, finding the band further
exploiting their penchant for snappy melodies, heavy duty riffs
and super catchy hooks. If there was any fatigue to be
encountered then no trace could be found here, with the music
retaining a polished and professional sheen that spelt instant
appeal.
Tracks such as Youre In Love, Lay It Down and What You
Give Is What You Get became instant RATT classics bouncing
out of the grooves and right into the publics heart. It was this
album that truly elevated RATT to arena headline status in the
US whilst helping to spread the message further afield in Europe

RATTS RISE TO fame and presumably fortune was meteoric.

Kicking around Southern California in various forms since the
mid 70s the band fully gelled in 1981, with the independent
release of a well-received debut mini album, which quickly led to
a coveted recording contract with label giant Atlantic Records.
Their debut album Out Of The Cellar exploded out of the box
ultimately reaching sales in excess of double platinum.
It was a level of success that few had predicted, elevating the
band to MTV regulars and selling out arena tours. But it was a
level of achievement that was not increasing as further records
saw the band maintaining rather than expanding their profile. By
the time of this album (their fourth) interest was still high, but the
stellar achievements of the past were becoming a fast fading
memory.
Reach For The Sky, originally released in late 1988 and
produced in the main by Mike Stone (Journey, Queen and
Whitesnake), found the band in familiar musical territory, a style
based on big hooks, shout-it-out-loud vocals and razor sharp
riffs. It was the sound of the times alright, and although
performing well (attaining Platinum status) the band were feeling
the strain of their work load. In fact it was the final album to
feature guitarist Robbin Crosby who would leave due to much
publicised personal problems.

In his journeys all over the world Stephan Micus seeks to study and understand traditional instruments, the sounds
that they produce and the cultures that brought them to life. He then composes original pieces for them, combining
instruments that would never normally be heard together, chosen from different cultures simply for their character,
texture and sonic beauty. Nomad Songs is his 21st album for ECM; he plays nine different instruments, but
emphasizes two he hasnt used before: The first is the Moroccan genbri, a lute covered with camel-skin, played by
the Gnawa in Morocco. The second is the ndingo, a lamellophone similar to the kalimba, used by the San people in
Botswana. These indigenous inhabitants of Southern Africa have been pushed off their land and marginalized by
the new nation states. With the albums title Micus, who sees himself as a musical nomad, refers to both the
situation of people like the Gnawa and the San as well as his own way of working and living.

THE BACKSTORY WHY STRAVINSKY?
Back in the 1990s a concerted effort, under the head of A & R Roger Wright, was made to do a Stravinsky Edition, but various
forces prevented this from coming to fruition but it was within reach and as it was close, Deutsche Grammophon have
decided to forge ahead and complete the job begum all those years ago. With the assistance of licensing from various labels, a
Complete Edition was possible. Stravinsky the last of his kind in Richard Taruskins telling phrase should be a feature of
everyones musical landscape, and the presentation of a Complete Edition brings ample rewards.
