The Cloisters Museum and Gardens
The Cloisters museum and gardens is a branch
of The Metropolitan Museum of Art devoted to
the art and architecture of medieval Europe,
both domestic and religious. The building and
its cloistered gardenslocated in Fort Tryon
Park in northern Manhattanare treasures in
themselves. The extensive collection consists
of masterworks in sculpture, stained glass, and
precious treasury objects from medieval Europe
dating from about the 9th to the 15th century.
