Site testing of detectors

The figure above shows the site testing status of the detector with address at 00. Increase or
reduce the detector address by pressing the key B3/B4. It can display the status for the detector
with maximum testing address at 95 (Note: The address is 00~95 for the detectors). The
CUC-11CR circulates the testing of detectors at all times. In event of status change of detector,
it real-time updates the status display on the LCD screen. The testing has 500ms timeout
setting. If no response from detector is received, it will display Out Line!.
3)

Setting of address for local ultrasonic control unit

The figure above shows the setting of address for local ultrasonic control unit. Increase or
reduce the address of control unit by pressing key B3/B4 and press OK key B5 to write the set
address into the RAMTRON. (Note: The address is 0~255 for ultrasonic control unit). To
update the address of this machine to the set address confirmed by OK key, its necessary to
reset the control unit.
4)

Detector height setting

The figure above shows the menu interface for height setting of detector. Press the key B3 to
add the detector address by 1. After the detector address reaches 95, press key B3 once again to
show all, which denotes to set one same height for all detectors. Press key B4 to reduce the
detector address by 1. After the detector address reaches 0, press the key B4 once again to

show all, which denotes to set one same height for all detectors. Press the OK key to enter
the height setting selection interface for this detector address, as shown in the figure below.

The figure above shows the height setting selection interface for the detector. The default
height is 0.0m. Press the +1 key to increase the height setting by 0.1m and press the -1 key
to reduce the height setting by 0.1m. After the proper site height is set, press the OK key to
complete the setting.

The figure above only appears when the all is selected for the detector address and this is a
broadcasted height setting without return value. After a while of setting time, it will display
OK! below if the command is released successfully and it will display FAIL! below if the
command is released unsuccessfully. No matter the setting is failed or successful, its necessary
to press the OK key B5 to return the detector height setting interface. To further set the height,
repeat above operations. At completion of setting, press menu key to enter the next menu.
5)

Clock Setting

Instruction: The setting is conducted in an order of year, month, date, hour, and minute, starting
from year. Press key B3 to add the value by 1 and press key B4 to reduce the value by 1. After
the correct value of year is selected, press OK key to enter the next setting, namely month, by
parity of reasoning. At completion of minute setting, press OK key to write into the system
RTC clock. Press menu key at any time to exit the clock setting and return to main setting
interface. In such case, no value is written into the RTC clock.

6)

Setting of CAN communication Baud rate

Instruction: It sets the Baud rate for the communication CAN bus between ultrasonic control
unit and PGS guidance server. Press the key B3/B4 to adjust. The Baud rates that can be set are
10K, 20K, and 50K respectively. After the correct Baud rate is selected, press the OK key B5
to enter the initial main menu interface.
7)

Information screen testing

Instruction: The testing of information screen is used to test whether the communication and
display between the CUC-11CR and Information screen are normal in the construction site and
mainly the group address and dial-up address are set. As shown in the figure above, the first
two digits correspond to group address (0~99) and the last two digits correspond to the dial-up
address on the control card (0~63).
During the testing, the default selection is setting of group address. Press key B3/B4 to
increase or reduce the group address. Press OK key B5 to switch between group address and
screen address. In such case, press key B3/B4 to increase or reduce the dial-up address of the
screen. After the address of screen to be tested is selected, press the OK key to release the
testing command. If no response is received from the Information screen, the OUT Line!
will be displayed. If the testing is normal and response is received from the Information screen,
the OK! will be displayed. In such case, the TEST xxxx will be displayed in the tested
screen. For instance, the TEST0001 will be displayed, of which the 00 denotes the group
address of the tested screen and 01 denotes the dial-up address of tested screen. The numbers

10

displayed vary depending on the address of the tested screen.

Caution: In such case, the OK key B5 has two functions, namely address switchover function
and command release function. Use key B5 to switch between the settings for group address
and control card dial-up address. After the address is determined, press the OK key to release
the testing command.
8)

Automatic height setting of detectors

The figure above shows the menu interface for automatic height setting of detector. Press the
key B3 to add the detector address by 1. After the detector address reaches 95, press key B3
once again to show all, which denotes to automatically set the height for all detectors. Press
key B4 to reduce the detector address by 1. After the detector address reaches 0, press the key
B4 once again to show all, which denotes to set one same height for all detectors. Press the
OK key B5 to confirm the automatic height setting for the selected sensor(s) (individual/all).
9)

Testing of Loop detectors

During the testing, press key B3/B4 to increase or reduce the address of Loop detector. Its
unnecessary to press the OK key. The control unit will automatically issue the testing

11

command whenever the key B3/B4 is pressed. The figure above shows a failed
communication.
Note: (1)
(1).. At completion of debugging and setting, press reset key B1 to exit the site
debugging status and enter the normal working status.
(2)
(2).. Under normal working status, the keys B2, B3, B4, and B5 are locked against
operations. However, the LCD backlight can be turned on by operating these
keys.
(3)
(3).. At completion of debugging, please reset the region and exit to normal
working status, in order to prevent the accidental modification of the control
unit parameters.

circuit
Short circuit J3 to add a matched resistor
between A+ and B- of port 3 downlink RS485
circuit
Short circuit J1/J9 to add a matched resistor
between uplink CAN buses

The configuration method is as below:

(1)

When the communication is normal for the control unit, no jumper is required for J5, J7,
J3, or J1.

(2)

If the communication becomes unstable due to over-long communication distance for

the device in one RS485 circuit, short circuit the corresponding matched resistor jumper
of the RS485 circuit and connect a 1k resistor between two ends of the communication
cable at the bus end instrument to improve the communication effect.

(3)

The CAN bus has two jumpers, of which the jumper connection is made by default for
the JP9 at the time of delivery. JP1 is a 120 matched resistor and JP9 is a 1.3K
matched resistor. When the communication becomes unstable due to over-long
communication distance for the device, short circuit JP9 at the end control unit of the
CAN bus and jump connect the JP1 at the middle control unit.
