2] The Ministry of Railways has decided to increase the Advance Reservation Period (ARP) for
booking accommodation in trains from 60 days to 120 days (excluding the date of journey).
Accordingly, from tomorrow i.e 1st April 2015 the booking in trains from train originating
stations will open and remain available for 120 days.

Shishu: covering loans upto Rs. 50,000/Kishor: covering loans above Rs. 50,000/- and upto Rs. 5 lakh
Tarun: covering loans above Rs. 5 lakh and upto Rs. 10 lakh

47] The government has retained the rate of interest for General Provident Fund (GPF) and
other related schemes at 8.7% for the current fiscal. The 8.7 $ interest will apply on Provident
Funds of central government employees, railways and defence forces, according to the
notification issued by the Finance Ministry.
48] A Japanese magnetic levitation train, set a world speed record Tuesday in a test run near
Mount Fuji, clocking more than 373 miles per hour (600 kilometers) an hour. The train beat the
590km/h speed it had set last week in another test.

53] The Reserve Bank has revised priority sector lending norms to ensure a phased increase in
loans to small farmers, and also made it clear that smaller foreign banks will have to meet the
40 percent target over the next five years. The RBI also said overdrafts of up to Rs 5,000 being
extended by banks under the PMs new financial inclusion drive will also be treated as priority
sector lending (PSL), subject a cap on annual household incomewhich is Rs 1 lakh for rural and
Rs 1.60 lakh for non-rural households.

61] 6 more satellites are planned to be launched during 2015-16. These are two
Communication satellites GSAT-6 & GSAT-15; three Navigation satellites IRNSS-1E, IRNSS-1F &
IRNSS-1G; and one Space science satellite ASTROSAT. In addition, it is also planned to launch 13
more satellites from four countries using Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle.
62] The Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) successfully test-fired the indigenous
cryogenic engine CE-20 for 645 seconds. This significant development can push India into a
bigger league of nations launching satellites weighing up to five tonnes.
