ANNOUNCING

International Journal of Early Childhood

Environmental Education
Purpose
The International Journal of Early Childhood Environmental Education (IJECEE) publishes scholarly written
work, anonymously and expertly reviewed by peers, that focuses on book reviews, educational
approaches, evaluation models, program descriptions, research investigations, and theoretical
perspectives pertinent to the education of all young children (birth to eight years). The young childrens
caregivers and the communities, institutions and systems, in which the children live, too, are a focus of
importance. The content of the publication addresses all aspects of environmental education as well as all
reciprocal associations and impacts embedded within the environmental education experience.
Implications for policy at the local, state, regional, national, and international levels are sought.
Definition and Scope of Environmental Education
Environmental education (EE) teaches children and adults how to learn about and investigate their
environment, and to make intelligent informed decisions about how they can take care of it. Specific
variables of emphasis could include mechanisms and processes that foster knowledge acquisition;
development of awareness and understanding of a wide range of environmental concepts; development
of attachments to nature and maintenance of affective dispositions that will last beyond the early
childhood years; development of abilities, behaviors, and skills for affecting good decision making in a
range of environmental contexts; and the cognitive, economic, and social impacts of early childhood
environmental education.

Peer Review Procedures
All submitted manuscripts will be acknowledged, prepared for blind review process, and assigned

two reviewers best qualified to review and make decisions about its quality and suitability for
publication in IJECEE. The editor may consult with the Executive Review Board members should
confirmation be required about the best matches between submitted manuscripts and peer reviewers.
Once the reviewers have been determined, an invitation to provide a rigorous review, suggestions for
improvements, and decisions about its suitability for publication will be solicited. Following the
reviewers suggestions and decisions, the editor will notify the author(s) within two months of the
editorial and publication decisions.
