Edsa to support Cory.
I could say that my dad was
a victim of that 70s to 80s dic-
tatorial rule. He lost his job at
a big publishing company, be-
ing an officer of the worker’s

president. I personally have
seen the changes in the life of
my family and other Filipinos
when Cory Aquino became
president.
We have been supporters of
the Aquinos since day one and
still willing to support Noynoy

family loved Cory.
For me the Aquinos opened
up my eyes to good politics and
good government, that giving
service to the people is both a
choice and responsibility.
I am not joining the “yel-
low” bandwagon because
someone just told me to do so.
Noynoy has the heart to
change the way the govern-
ment serve the people. I can
sense the sincerity in him es-
pecially when he made an ad-
vertisement saying he will not
steal, he will not tolerate cor-
ruption and vows to end pov-
erty.
There was a joke spreading
on Facebook that if you want
to have a good president we
should look for someone who
has Villar ’s money, Noynoy’s
heart, Erap’s appeal, Gibo’s
intelligence and Gordon’s will
power. But of course we don’t
have a candidate that has all
that kind of traits and re-
sources. For me I would rather
choose the one who has the
heart.

Ang LP mismo ay napahayag ng pagduda sa isang sur-
vey na si Manny Villar naman ang sinasabing nangunguna.
Sa palagay nila ay hindi patas na ilabas ang ganung opinyon
gayong hindi naman daw accurate.
Noong nakaraaang eleksyon sa Amerika, marami ang hindi
natuwa sa nakitang lantarang pag-panig ng media sa mga
kandidatong napupusuan nila. Marami ang umalma sa un-
fairness daw dahil malaki nga naman ang impluwensya ng
media at maraming naaabot ang kanilang mga opinyon.
Pero tama ba o mali ang maka-impluwensya ka ng
maraming tao kung hindi rin naman sigurado ang mga datos
na ginagamit mo? Tama ba na lantaran mong
impluwensyahan ang maraming tao na hindi pa nakaka-
alam sa maraming isyu sa lokal na pamahalaan ng lungsod
ng Quezon lalo kung ang survey na pinagbabasehan mo ng
iyong opinyon ay hindi na accurate dahil luma na?
Marami sa mga botante natin na mataas ang pagtingin sa
mga sikat na personalidad sa ating pulitika kaya malaki
ang naka-atang na responsibilidad sa mga taong ito na nag-
e-endorso ng mga lokal na kandidato. Ang mga kabataan na

Ping, not NBI’s priority
THE National Bureau of Investigation (NBI)
yesterday clarified that arresting fugitive

Acer Philippines provides tech boost to two NGOs Mison leads

TOP notch computer manufacturer and one of the
world’s most trusted computer makers, Acer, Inc.,
through its local office, Acer Philippines, Inc., again
displayed its robust humanitarian heart by providing
further boost to the technological capabilities of some
of the country’s noted non-government organizations
(NGOs).
Acer Philippines recently donated several desktop
computers to these two NGOs, namely Tahanang
Walang Hagdanan and the National Vocational
Rehabilitation Center or NVRC, as a way of giving
back to the community and other charitable institu-
tions as part of its corporate social responsibility
(CSR) programs.
The donation is also Acer ’s way of empowering
these noble institutions through technology. The
company knows that added technological competen-
cies and resources would help Tahanang Walang
Hagdanan and NVRC in its efforts to further uplift
and provide quality of life to less fortunate Filipinos
and make them productive members of society despite
their condition.
“Given the right tools, we know that these two
NGOs’ beneficiaries can still be capable of leading
productive and meaningful lives by empowering them
through technology. This act of humanitarianism is
just a small step, our own way of helping them get up
on their feet once again. We know that once empow-
ered, they would be as productive and efficient as any
ordinary human being,” explains Manuel Wong,
General Manager of Acer Philippines, Inc.
Tahanang Walang Hagdanan (TWH) is a commu-
nity of the physically challenged that was established
way back in 1973. TWH is a non-stock, non-profit
NGO that aims to uplift the lives of orthopedically-
handicapped citizens. It is also a rehabilitation and
skills training facility with sheltered workshops where
people with disabilities (PWDs) are trained to be
productive and self-reliant citizens.
Likewise, the NVRC provides rehabilitation pro-
grams and services to PWDs and other special groups
including the elderly and dependents of PWDs to live
a useful and satisfying life. The NVRC is located in
Project 4 in Quezon City under the auspices of the
Department of Social Welfare and Development –
NCR. Some of NVRC’s courses include Consumer
Electronics, Garment Trades, Food Management
Service, Scientific Massage, Watch and Cellphone
Repair, School Placement and Social Rehabilitation,
and computer-related courses like Computer Literacy,
Computer Software Application and Computer
Technology (Servicing).
PMA honorees
LT. Gen. Salvador M. Mison (Ret) and eight
other alumni of the Philippine Military Academy (PMA)
were given the Cavalier Award for their outstand-
ing works in the recent alumni homecoming at
Fort del Pilar, Baguio City.
Aside from Mison, the other honorees are:
· Ernesto G. Carolina, Class ’70, for public ad-
ministration;
· Rodolfo Tor, Class ’72, for special fields;
· Leopoldo N. Bataoil, Class ’76, for police pro-
fessional in staff position;
· Juancho M. Sabban, Class ’78, for military
professional in command and administration;
· Manuel S. Gonzales, Class ’83, for military
professional in air force operations;
· Primitivo P. Gopo, Class ’83, for military pro-
fessional in naval operations;
· Manuel R. Gaerlan, Class ’85, for military pro-
fessional in police operations; and
· Vicente B. Mabborang, Class ’03, for military
professional in army operations.
Mison was given the award for excellence in pri-
vate enterprise. He is president of Basic Holdings
Corp. and concurrent president of Fortune Tobacco
Corporation, and director of Century Park Hotel.
This is Mison’s third Cavalier Award. His first
was in 1977 as outstanding professional while bri-
gade commander in Basilan and his second was
in 1989 for outstanding public administration while
customs commissioner.
After he graduated from PMA in 1955, he was
assigned to the infantry and saw combat against
the Huks. He became PMA instructor in 1962.
