need a "new mounting points" for your central lock, oh did I say that's how many charges in a row
already?

So thankfully I insisted on the original boxy type or it is just me. Problem now is the passenger door
actuatorseemedtoquitasitsometimesdoesn'tlockordoesn'tunlock,makingthedrivertomanuallylock
andunlockmanuallywhentheactuatorfeelsbadonthatparticularday.
Soherecomesthedisassemblyguideforthedoorpanel.

STEP1:
Firstremovetheredscrewsfromthepanels.Ifthey'recovered,gettheflapoffandunscrewit.Youwill
alsoneedtoremovethetriangleprotectiveplasticcoveronthesidemirroradjustertogetthepanelout.
Afterthat,thegreenboxeslabelsalltheclipsbehindthepanels.You'llliketopopthemup.Poponeand
otherswillbeeasyforyou.
Afterpoppingupalltheclips,thepurpleareaisjustholderbygravityand"hook"frompanel.Simplylift
thepanelreversingthegravitydirectionandit'llcomeoutsmoothly.Getreadytobalancethepaneland
findaplacetoputwhereyouwon'tgetscratchesonyourpanel.Accessoriesguy,nahthey'lljustrestit
onthewallandtheregoesyourpaneltrimscratches,wholelineofitonthemostobviousplace.Ifyou
placeitwiththe"windowfabricliner"againstthewall,nahgetreadyforyourtintedfilmtoscratch,canbe
verydeepuntilyou'llreplaceanewfilm.
Tips:Ifyouneedtorestit,restitonawallorsomethingheightofpail,soyoudon'tgetthewindowliner
onthewall.Getsomenewspaperonthefloorandmakesurenosandsorstonestoscratchthepanel.If
wantedtolaytowallonpanelside,getsomeclothtocoverthepanelsothatleavenoscratches.Ifyou
really need to rest the "window fabric liner" against the wall, I suggest masking tape the whole liner
beforerestingonwallasthestonesorriskDEEPscratchesfromminordirtfromwall.(Imaginehavea
tiny tiny tiny tiny sand/dust on the liner, and you lower down the window and up the window back,
GONE!OnewholelineofDEEPscratchgoingdiagonallyacross!Idon'tlikeitonmycheaptintandIbet
youwon'tlikeitonyourHuperor3Mthough)
STEP2:
Peeltheweathershieldoff!Alrightjustpeelofftheleftside.Basicallylowerleftandupperleft.Idon'tpeel
allthewayasthe"gummygooey"sealwillgetlessandlesssticky,andeventuallyyourweathershield
doesn'tbondanymoreduetodust,oilfromfingers,ageortheweathershielditself.Justpeel"enough"to
allowyourworkspace"nottobecompromised",ratherthan"comfortable".
STEP3:
Identifytherootcauseoftheproblembyinspection.Startbylockingandunlockingthedoorviacentral
locksystemoralarm.Sawthegreenholderconnectedviaarodtoablueholder?That'sthecentrallock
mechanism,yeaJUSTONEROD.Aweakcentrallockmotorwillnotbeableto"pull"and"push"the
lockmechanismenoughtomakeitlockorunlock.Basicallyit'sjustovercomingfrictionofthedoor
hinges,butatitsposition,you'llfindoutprettymuchforceisneededthough.Basicallycentrallockmotor
doesn'tgetdamaged,it'sjustgettingweak.

Ifyoufoundyourrodhadmisaligned,loosenorfellsomewhereelse,justreplaceditbacktoitsoriginal
position.Retesttoensurethatsolvestheproblem.
STEP4:
Herecomesthecashpart.Mycentrallockmotorisweakandguessitstimeforthe7yearsoldoriginal
Protonactuatortoretire.Wenttosparepartsshopandthey'llgiveyoutheguntype.Insistsonboxtype,
i'mnotgoingtoretrofititwithguntype,it'sjusttoounnecessary.
Aftersearching,theycan'tfindtheoneforIswarasotheygavemeaWiraonetofit.Thiswillmakeme
reuse back my old bracket as the bracket is entirely different from the Iswara's one. Note that all the
actuators are shaped the same, the difference, if any, would be the inclining angle of the metal piece
connecting the motor and the rod. For rear, there is a difference between Iswara and Wira's one and
mayneedmoremodificationtofit.Thisisduetotheangledifferenceonthemetaljoiningthemotorand
therod.SoDOinsistsonIswara'soneastheWiramodificationwon'tworkwell.

Sohereitis,originalontherightandtheWira'snewactuatorontheleft.Thebracketistotallydifferent
from the Iswara's one, a google search will bring you a result from another blog. It's a piece of oddly
shapedunbalanceddesignmetal.OhbythewayIhadcheckedoutthepartsatProtonPartsCentre,the
originalpartisOBSELETE!Sojustsettlewithanythingorbrandthatsparepartshopsgiveyouaslong
asthepricesoundsreasonableforyou.
IthenremovedthemountingscrewsfromtheWiraactuatorandtestit.Thestrengthofthenewactuator

Ileftithanginglikethiswhiletestingthenewcentrallockactuator.Thepowerduringrotationcanmake
theactuatorshakeandnotjustvibrate!
SoenoughoftestingandletsgotoStep5!
STEP5:
Nowyou'llliketoremovetheoldcentrallockactuatorfromitsplace.Theplacementspotisverydifficult
toreachandtoworkwith,andyouhavenoaccesstoanyscrewsaswell.SoIresummonthepicture
youjustlookedatagainbecauseyoublinkedyoureyes.

Youwillneedtoremovethe3screwsaroundthedoorlatches,oneaboveandtwobelow.Thiswillallow
thedoorlatchtobe"outofplace"enoughtoinstalltheactuator.Anotherscrew,whichistheonlyscrew
belowthedoorlatch,yesthegreyone,willalsoneedtoberemoved.
Next, remove all the linkages, no matter it is orange or green. You'll realized that the door latch and
everythingseemedstuckinplaceevenwithoutallthemountingscrews.That'showstrongthelinkages
areholdingthelatchesandlocks.Removingthelinkageswillallowyoutofreemoremovementsthatare
requiredtoreplacetheactuator.

STEP6:
NowIshouldresummonthelastpicturecauseyoudidn'tstareatitlongenough.
You'llthenrealizedthattherearetwoverticallymountedscrewsbesidethegreenholderandbelowthe
orangeholderthatholdsthebracketwithin.Thescrewsarescrewedfromwithin!Whatkindofdesignis
that?Andhowareyougoingtounscrewthat?Iwaspuzzledandconcludedthattoremovethat,itwill
take much more time and probably gonna take apart the whole door knob mechanism as well. As it's
gettingcomplicated,Irecommendthefollowingstepsasanalternative.
Sincethebracketlovestostaythere,letitstay!
Movethebracketataslightangleandyoushallgetenoughspacetounscrewthemotorfrombehind.
Unscrewtwoscrewsinthisway!

Now you'll find there's one more remaining screw. And guess what, you just need to angle here and
thereandyou'llfindthethirdscrewpositionedjustniceinthegloryholebelow...Thattookmesometime
tofigureout.Onceyouunscrewthethirdscrew,themotorcanberemoved,catchthemotororit'llsend
anaudioshockwavethroughoutyourclumsyallmetalcardoor.
Sothatsavedallthehassleyou'llneedtotakeapartthebracket,youhadjustremovedtheoldactuator!
STEP7:
Refitthenewactuatorbyreversingbackstep6.Youcanscrewtheactuatorinanyorderyouwant.And

nowit'llbemuchdifficulttodoitlater!
STEP8:
Alignthedoorhinge.Holditinplaceandstartfixingallthelinkagesbackintoitsoriginalposition.It'snot
difficulttomessuptheorderorpositionasthelinkagesrodsareratherfixedinpositionsincetheyareout
fromfactory.

Reversestep5.Testitnow!Feelthepowerofthenewactuator!(Orthepowerofyourmoneywellspent
atleast)
Ifyournewmotorisalsoweak,unabletolockorunlockproperly,readfurtherbelowafterthesesteps.
STEP10:
ReversebackStep3,Step2andStep1.Inspectforanyabnormalities,placebackweathershield,and
placebackthedoorpanel.You'redone!
NoteforthosecomingfromGuntypeintoBoxtype:
Ifyourcarismodifiedintoguntypeandthebracketandscrewsaregone,congratulateyourexowneror
youraccessoriesmen.You'vemadeyourlifehardertoreconvertintoboxytype.
Boxytypecentrallockactuatorisalsomuchquieterandelegantwhenworking.Boxytypeactuatorlocks
thedoorlockmoresoftlyandduetoitsmountingandconstructionswiththedoorandbracket,soundis
minimizedalot.Theguntypeisjustmakingtoomuchnoiseasitspowerful,thatbotheredme,making
thelockingandunlockingfeellikebreakingsomethingeverytime.
Speakingaboutpowerful,theguntypesarenormallymountedparalleltothedoorknob.Yesintheory
this gives the most powerful force to lock and unlock as its a direct drive, rather than rotational drive
instead.ButsometimesIdon'tthinkIneedthat"powerful"forcetolockorunlock.It'slikepunchingthe
hingedownandsendingthedoorknobflyingduringlockingandunlocking.Andthatisfurtherworsenby
thehingedesignwherelockingandunlockingwillstrikeamiddlemetal.Herecomesthecheaplocking
noiseandhopefullyyoudidn'tmakeanymetalbentyet.
Nowaboutthemetalpart,iftheaccessoryinstallerdrilledonyourcardoormetal,you'regoingtohavea
badtime,you'llsufferfromrustonthecardoorpanel,ortheuselessscrewstheyusedthatcatalyzethe
rustingprocess.Pleasenotethatwaterdoesgoesintotheareawe'reworkinghereandrustingispretty
mucheasywithoutanypaint/coatingon.ThatiswhyProtonhadcoatedalayerofantirustinthedoor
and even weathershield it in first place! Try running your finger on the inner door panel metal, sticky
right?Notmentioningtheworkingnoiseisamplifiedbythethindoormetalthat'sholdingthegun.
Mypreviousgeniusownerchangedallfourtogunlockingtype.Ispentsometimetoreconverttheminto
theoriginalsones.I'llnowspeakfrommyexperienceinconvertingtheguntypeintotheyboxtypeformy
car:
In Step 5, you may not have the screw. Get the screw from spare parts shop or ask from you mech
friendsforonepiecetoscrewtheactuatorbracket.That'stheimportantlinkthat'llholdthebracketand
theactuatortogether.Nothingreplacesthat,youcan'tevenreachtoglueorweldthebracketifyouwant
to.
InStep6,youdon'thaveanyscrews!Ireplacedminewithcabletiesinstead,makingittolooptogether
withthebracketandtheholesfromthedoorhinge.Youwannamakesurethecabletiesaregoodand
tight. If it's not tight enough, your actuator can't efficiently transfer the power to the lock rod as it will
move, and you'll pretty much peel your weathershield again very soon to readjust. If any of cable ties
snaps,notonlyitcausesthethedoorlockandunlocktofail,you'llgetannoyingmetalclunkingsound
whenyourcarvibratesasthebracketcomesintocontactwithanothermetal,thataresupposedtobe
fastenedtogether.
Onethinggoodaboutthisstepbyusingcabletiesisit'llbeunnecessarytounscrewthe3screwsonthe
doorhinge.Thisisactuallygoodasyoucanseethewasheronthedoorhingeisprettysharptopierce
thecarpaintintodoorbody.Thisistomakesurethedoorhingedoesn'tgotloosenedupovertimedueto
vibration and age, causing door randomly open or flew off during cruising. By using cable ties, the 3
screwswillstaywiththecardoorforeverandeachtimeyoureplacetheactuatorwouldonlyneedyouto
cutthecabletiesoff,notmentioningyoucanchangethebracketfornewonetoo!
Noteforunabletolockorunlockevenchangedanewactuator:Get a new one from where you
bought.ButIthinkmostslightlytheywillrejectasyouhad,openedthepackaging,and,OPENEDTHE
PLASTIC BAG. But it's really their product fault! The actuator is so weak that it can't even push it in
place!Nopesorrybuttheynormallywon'tadmitit,they'llgivesomesortreasonofyourcentrallockrelay
weakandallsortsofreasonevenblamingyouinstallednotproperlyorhadspoileditorblamingwiring
problem,fornotexchangingitforyou.
SoIguessIcan'tgetanexchange?Here'swhatyoucando:(It'scomplicated,Itookfewdaystofine

You'llneedtogetsomemetalrodinthisprocess.Havealookatthepicturebelow:

You'llneedtogetthemetalrod(stick)andthelinkconnectorfastener(goldboxwithscrews).Itssoldat
caraccessoriesshoporsomecaraccessoriesshopinJalanPasar.First,you'llparallelthenewmetalrod
withyourdoorknobpinmetalrod.Then,you'llreachthenewmetalrodtothehookshapedmetalrod
from the boxy central lock actuator. Some adjustment will be needed on different lengths of the
connectingrodtoenablethelocktolockandunlockproperly.Onceyou'vedecidedthelength,proceed
withcabletieontheyellowcircledpart.Thiswillholdtherodstogetherproperly.Linkconnectorisnot
used as the boxy actuator will make rotations during lock and unlock, we do need some free play on
rotations, but what we need the more lateral force from it. It'll take some time to adjust this and you'll
needtoplacethedoorpanelbacktoreconfirmwhetherisitworkingproperlyassomerotationalforceis
"convert"intolateralforcethroughthedoorpinholeonthedoorpanel.Thiswillmakethedoorunlock.
Lockingactionwillrequiremuchlessadjustment.
Doensurethe"lock"and"unlock"operationsaresmooth.Ifthereisjitteronjoins,placemorecableties
to make sure the force doesn't split up in the intermediate yellow circled part. It's difficult to find a
balanced lock and unlock position in this case. Always make sure the central lock actuator is more
favourableorbiastostayin"lock"ratherthanstay"unlocked".You'llrathermanuallyunlockedyourcar
thanlockingit.Why?Imagineifthelockdoesn'tlockupproperlyandyouhadmovedawayfromyourcar,
thinkingthatarmingyouralarmhadlockeditwell.Andagraspofdoorhandlewillpopthelockupifits
notlockedproperly!Thelatchondoorhingehasnottraveledfarenoughtostaylocked.
Alright,ifthisisnotworthyourtime,Isuggestgettinganotherfromanothersparepartsshop.Sometimes
maybeit'sjustmanufacturingdefectorsometimestheproductmayhadbeenstoredtoolong,stacked
togetherandmagnetsrepelleduntilitsweakerthanusual,notsurewiththat.
