Barangay Talomo
I.
BACKGROUND:
Talomo River is a waterway which originates from Mt. Talomo and adjoining Apo
Range located at the eastern portion of Davao City. It is generally characterized by a semirough topography with gradient from gradual steep to steep slope. A number of creeks are
connected to it such as Tagakpan Creek in Barangay Tagakpan, Wangan Creek at Barangay
Wangan and the creeks at Barangays Baguio and Malagos, all in Davao City. It flows eastsoutherly direction, curves out and finally empties into Talomo Bay.
Big boulders can be found at the upper reaches of the river towards Mintal area.
Abundant sand materials can be found downstream of the said river particularly from Mintal
towards Brgys. Ulas and Bangkal. The estuarine portion of the said river is characterized
predominantly with muddy soil.
Talomo river is the area were we (Coke Davao) dispose our waste water, Talomo
River is connected to Talomo-Lipadas Aquifer and the resulting body of water is the Talomo
beach. Surrounding Coca-Cola plant is a residential area, near the river is Sitio Balabag which
is 60 % of residents are w/o toilets, the other 40% are with toilets but discharge their
effluents to Talomo River
We would like to show that we are committed not only to the quality of products we
are producing but also we are committed to protect and preserve the environment, and to
protect worker and public safety. We operate in a responsible manner in accordance with
environmental and occupational safety and health standards.
II.
RESPONSIBILITIES
LGU-Brgy. Talomo shall:
1. Lead in the site preparation and ensure right of way for those who will
participate in the tree planting activities ;
2. Commit to participate in tree planting and ensure survival of trees planted;
3. Participate in all activities for the protection, conservation and development of
the river.

pH, BOD and DO levels conform to the water quality criteria set for class B water.

Community Mobilization
Last March 25, 2013 at Coke Plant Pavilion an IEC re Solid Waste Management was
conducted by Engr. Virgie Pusod, Engr. C. Guyot and Engr. L. Orcullo, City ENRO
representatives.
IV.
Coca-Cola Davao Plant will continue to impart a significant contribution in protecting the
environment.
