According to recently released statistics, sector hiring
was considerably lower during the second quarter
than the first. From January to March, 41,000 new positions, on average, were created on a monthly basis;
from April to June, that average dropped to about
10,000.

recovered from the very slight loss seen last month.

Hiring continued to rise within the sector in June, as
25,200 new jobs were added to the national economy.
Since April, the sector has created 55,500 new jobs.

Health Reform Requirements

Immediately following the U.S. Supreme Courts June
2012 decision upholding most of the health care reform law,
Mercer polled more than 4,000 U.S. employers.
The majority said they had been waiting for the courts
decision before developing a strategy to respond to
the laws provisions slated to go into effect in 2014 and
beyond. While 40 percent said they will begin taking
action now that the court has ruled, another 16 percent
said they will continue to wait until after the November 2012
elections.
Although the law still faces a contentious political outlook,
employers should stay on track in their efforts to comply with
the law as enacted or else they may face penalties, advises
Mercer, an HR consultancy.
Employers must act quickly to implement new requirements
for 2012 and 2013, such as:

Sept. 22, 2012.

Employers are not too proud to admit it: They have an
employee retention problem. But the good news is theyre
reporting there are tactics and programs working to keep
top employees on board and the majorities dont involve
bumping up employees pay.

become a major concern recently, a stat World at Work
published in its new reportRetention of Key Talent and the
Role of Rewardsfor which the company surveyed 526 midto senior-level rewards professionals.
Perhaps even more troubling: Only 51% of respondents were
confident their organization could retain key talent if the job
market continued to improve.
