readandfollowedbyavastnumberofMuslimsforguidanceinsubcontinentandafew
otherpartsoftheworld.Itconsistsoftwovolumes.

Itisevidentfromthepassagequotedabovethatthebook,whichisbelievedbyits
adherentstoleadhumanbeingstoJannahwaswrittenbyMaulanaindayswhenhewas
preventedtododimaghikaam.Strangelyhedidntconsiderthefactthatwritingabook,
whichissupposedtocontainguidancefortheUmmahshouldbewrittenwithsoundmind.
Ordidhethinkwritingsuchabookisnotadimaghikaam?Nowonder,thebookbesides
containingsomeauthenticinformation,alsocontainsanumberofweak,concocted,
interpolatedaswellasfabricatedahadithascribedtotheProphetMuhammad(pbuh).
Thecompanionsoftheprophet(pbuh),inspiteofbeingsoclosetohim,havingseenand
heardhimsoclosely,wereafraidtonarrateahadithfromhimlesttheymightendup
makingmistakesinquotinghisahadith.ConsiderthefollowingnarrationsfromAlBukhari:

inthebookaretoomanytobediscussedinanarticle.Weshall,thereforediscussjusta
fewoftheminthelightoftheQur'anandtheSunnah.
WhyIsthisArticleNeeded?
Somebodymightarguesayingtherearesomanybookswhicharenotinconciliationwith
theQur'anandtheauthenticahadith,whythenonlythisbookistakenintoconsideration
forsuchanarticle?Thereasonis,theremaybemanybookswhicharenotauthentic
Islamicbooks,butthesebooksarenotfollowedbycommonpeopleasmuchasFAis
followed.ItisalsobelievedthatifapersonreadsFA,thenheisnotrequiredtoreadany
otherbookforguidance,noteventheQur'ansinceFAcontainscompleteguidance
sufficientenoughtoguidepeopletoJannah.
Moreover,iftheerrorsofotherunauthenticbooksareshowntopeople,thepeople
responsibleforrevisingandreprintingthebookpaysincereattentiontowardsthemand
theymakesurethoseerrorsdonotexistintheforthcomingeditionsofthebook.
ButincaseofFA,nomatterhowmanytimestheseerrorsarehighlightedbygreat
scholarsofIslam,itappearsthatthepeopleresponsibleforreprintingthebookdonot
considerthemtobeerrorseveniftheyareseriouslyinconflictwiththeauthenticsources
ofIslam,soserioussothattheyleadtoShirk,thegreatestsin.

says:'NovisioncangraspHim.'(6.103)AndifanyonetellsyouthatMuhammad(pbuh)
hasseentheUnseen,heisaliar,forAllahsays:"NonehastheknowledgeoftheUnseen
(ghaib)butAllah."(SahihBukharivol.9,Hadith#477)
AlthoughAllahmakesitsoveryclearinHisbook,theQur'an,thatHealoneknowsghaib,
thecommonpeoplearekeptawayfromreadingtheQur'anwithunderstandingbytheirso
calledBade(seniors)sayingtheQuranismeanttobeunderstoodonlybyulemaand
commonpeoplecannotunderstandit.

TheProphet(pbuh)said,"ThekeysoftheunseenarefiveandnoneknowsthembutAllah:

tomorrow,butAllah(3)Noneknowswhenitwillrain,butAllah(4)Noneknowswherehe
willdie,butAllah(knowsthat)(5)andnoneknowswhentheHourwillbeestablished,but

AllahsaysinthegloriousQur'an:
Oyouwhobelieve!DoyourdutytoAllahseekthemeansofapproach(Wasilah)untoHim
andstrivewithmightandmaininHiscause:thatyoumayprosper.(AlQur'an5:35)
Ibn`Abbas(RA)saidthatWasilahmeans`themeansofapproach'.Qatadahsaidthatthe

DifferentmeansofWasilahare:
1.SeekingtoapproachAllahthroughHisNamesandAttributes.[Asfoundinvarious
supplicationstaughttousbyAllahandhisMessenger(pbuh)].
2.Bydoingactsofobedienceandworshipbywhich,oneseekstoapproachAllah.(As
wasdonebythecompanionsofthecave).
3.ByaskingHisMessenger(pbuh)tomakeduaforoneduringhislifetime,andthe
believersaskingoneanothertomakeduaaforoneanother.
AsthereisnodisputeamongsttheMuslimsinunderstandingthemeaningofthefirsttwo
meansofWasilah,letusunderstandthethirdmeanofwasilahwiththehelpoffollowing
authenticnarrationfromAlBukhari.
NarratedAnas(RA):Whenevertherewasdrought,'UmarbinAlKhattabusedtoaskAllah
forrainthroughAl'Abbasbin'AbdulMuttalib,saying,"OAllah!Weusedtorequestour
ProphettoaskYouforrain,andYouwouldgiveus.Nowwerequesttheuncleofour
ProphettoaskYouforrain,sogiveusrain."Andtheywouldbegivenrain."(Sahih
Bukhari,Vol.5,Hadith#59)
Fromthenarrationgivenabove,itisclearthatthecompanionsoftheProphet(pbuh)used
torequesttheProphettomakeduaforthemONLYwhenhewaslivingandtheystopped
thispracticeafterhisdeath.HadtheyunderstoodtheAyahoftheWasilahquotedaboveto
meanitispermissibletoseektheWasilahoftheProphet(pbuh)evenafterhisdeath,
theywouldhavesurelyvisitedthegraveoftheProphetsincethegraveoftheProphet
(pbuh)wasmuchclosertothemascomparedtothemanywhovisitedthegraveofthe
Prophet(pbuh)toseekhisWasilahinFazaaileAamal(FA).
SheikhMuhammedSalihAlMunajjidsays:
SeekingtoapproachAllaahbyvirtueofthestatusandvirtuesofsomecreatedbeing,
suchassaying,OAllaah,IaskYoubyvirtueofYourProphetandsoon.Thisisallowed
bysomeoftheulama,butthisopinionisdaeef(weak).Thecorrectviewisthatitis
definitelyharaam,becausetherecanbenotawassulinduaaexceptbyvirtueofthe
NamesandAttributesofAllaah.
TawassulasitisunderstoodbymanyoftheMuslimsoflatertimes,whichiscallingonthe
Prophet(peaceandblessingsofAllaahbeuponhim)andseekinghishelp(orseekingthe
helpofthedeadandsocalledawliya).Thisisaformofmajorshirk,becausecallingonor
seekinghelpfromanyoneotherthanAllaahwithregardtosomethingthatonlyAllaahis

Ziyaadcametousandjoinedusinabattlethatwefought.Welaidsiegetoonecity

One of us went to search for food whilst all of a sudden a caterpult was shot up
which landed close to Ziyaad and injured him. He fell down unconscious. We

to see his teeth. Then he cooled down. Then he began to cry until he even shed

one corner, stood a person performing Salaat. He was reciting Surah Nahl and he
gotstuckrepeatingthesameverseoverandoveragain.Thewomanthencorrected
theman.
Thereafter,themanthenliftedupapillownearbyunderwhichlayapieceofpaper
whichheremoved.Helookedatitbutbeforehecouldsayanything,theuglywoman
spokeout,Thismandidthisandthat.Theyounghandsomemansaid,Buthedid
this and this and this enumerating all the good. The man said, This is a servant
who has wronged himself but Allah Taala has forgiven him. His time is not yet up.
HewilldieonMonday.Thispersonthenexplainedtothepeoplearoundhimlook
ifIdieonMonday,thenIhopetogetwhatIveseenandifIdontdieonMonday
then these were just imaginary thoughts. The man passed away on Monday after
Asr. (Man aasha baadal mawt pg.127). It is clear from this incident also that this
person knew the time of his death and also had the power of Kashf which
obviouslywasaffordedtohimbyAllahTaalaalone.

he said, O Allahs Messenger (PBUH)! In how many days should I recite
Quran? He (the Prophet, PBUH) replied, In one month. I said, I am
