.NET Engineer-Lead and .NET Engineer-Senior (2 openings)

Duration:
12 Months Contract to hire (3 days remote work)
Responsibilities
The Learning Network organization owns multiple applications supporting the World Service
and Global Credit Administration organizations. The portfolio contains applications to manage
curriculum, classes, schedule, and executive reports. The .NET Engineer contributes to the
delivery of well-designed software that evolves and enhances the Learning Network
capabilities.
This role presents a key area of professional growth for candidates with a strong desire to
expand their knowledge and drive innovative, creative solutions and be at the forefront of
emerging business strategies and technology trends.
Responsibilities for this position include:

Perform hands-on architecture, design, development, and testing

Accountable for ensuring quality and adherence to technical, security and


compliance standards.

Writes code and unit tests, works on APIs, automation, and conducts code reviews
and testing

Performs ongoing refactoring of code, utilizes visualization and other techniques to


fast-track concepts, and deliver continuous improvement

Supports the architectural design and documentation.


The successful candidate will also be responsible for the following activities that are critical to
maintaining a high-degree of technical proficiency within American Express Technologies:
Keeps up with the latest industry research to ensure AXP remains aligned with the
competition as well as internal standards. Has appropriate knowledge of package
solutions, AXP applications hardware, software, operating systems, testing, and
environments.
Proactively plans, tracks and delivers assignments within agreed specifications,
timelines and budget.
Required Qualifications for .NET Engineer-Lead
Expert in .NET distributed application development
Strong experience with JavaScript (jQuery, Angular.js), IIS, Object-Oriented design,
NUnit, Moq
Highly desirable: Domain Driven Design (DDD), Test Driven Development (TDD), REST
(WCF and WebAPI)
Must have proven experience with Agile/extreme programming (XP) methodology
Demonstrated experience utilizing Relational Databases, SQL stored procedures
preferred
Strong understanding of Multidimensional Data Analysis and Modeling. Work experience
with SQL Server Integration Services
Ability to work with business partners and articulate technical trends/concepts and
design/implementation considerations.
Required Qualifications for .NET Engineer-Senior
3-5 years programming experience in .NET distributed application development.
Strong experience with C#, ASP.Net, SQL and jQuery
Strong programming ability, with great attention to detail and design.
Demonstrated experience utilizing Relational Databases, SQL stored procedures.
Extensive experience using a systems analysis and design methodology, with good
understanding of industry trends and tools such as Agile (Scrum) software
development.
Ability to work with business partners and articulate technical trends/concepts and
design/implementation considerations.

Willing to embrace and thrive in a geographically-dispersed, highly-virtual workplace.


Highly effective in both individual assignments and collaborative teamwork.
Experience with Subversion and CollabNet (AEDC).
Experience with Telerik RadControls is a plus.
Ability to work remote 2 days a week (perhaps 3) This could transition to an FTE - if
timing right.
