Godly Financial Stewardship
God’s people need to see the giving of their tithes and
offerings as:
An act of obedience to God’s command.
An act of worship to God.
An act of support for God’s work.
An act of thankfulness for God’s past provisions.
An act of trust in God’s future provisions.
Honor the Lord with your wealth and with the first fruits of your
produce; then your barns will be filled with plenty, and your vats
will be bursting with wine. Proverbs 3:9-10
1. Trusting God propels your life down the path
where God is most glorified and you are most
satisfied. Proverbs 3:5-6
You may not know what les just around the corner or over the hill,
but you will be trusting the one who does and you can know the
path leads to great glory for God and great happiness for you.
Trust God with all your heart – not just intellectual assent but deep
reliance
Not your own understanding – Do not set your limited, finite
wisdom against the unlimited, infinite wisdom of an all-knowing,
all-loving God.
1 Chronicles 21 – Let’s see how much I’ve accomplished and what
else I can accomplish. Not the sixe of the population, but the size
of our God.
Some of us need to ask God to move us from the path we are on to
the path that labeled “In God I Trust.”
2. Trusting God rescues you from a life of anxiety.
Matthew 6:24-33
You have a choice when it comes to having your needs met, you
can trust God or you can trust money. You can have your life
When money is our god, we are in bondage to the anxiety it
brings.
The Lord wants to set you free from the bondage that bondage as
you trust in Him.
He knows your needs. If you set your heart about my business I
will take care of yours. You be about building my house, Ill build
yours.
Commit to seek God first.
Another weapon or two in the fight against anxiety: Philippians
4:6-7
3. Trusting God frees us to sacrificially live and
give for the cause of Christ. Philippians 4:10-20
No act of service or generous gift given in the name of Jesus goes
unnoticed but builds our heavenly account. Store treasures in
heaven. Unnamed men and women of Hebrews 12; the widow’s
offering
These gifts pleased God. They were free to give because they
trusted God!
You can’t out give God. Both His wealth & generosity infinitely
exceed yours! God shows himself generous to those who are
generous.
He will supply needs.
Will you be set free to live a life of sacrifice built on a radical trust
in God.
Stewardship carries the idea of being trustworthy with the
assets God puts under your care. But godly stewardship builds
first upon a deep trust in God.
1. Could people tell by your life that your trust God with your
whole heart?
2. Are you a Christian who needs to repent of a lack of deep
trust in God?
3. Do you need for the very first time to trust in God for
salvation by asking His Son Jesus to come into your life to be
your Lord and Savior?
