WEDNESDAYREVIVAL PRAYING
Chronological Bible Reading: Proverbs 10-12; Galatians 1
Wednesday, September 9
John 15:5 I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the
same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing.
2 Cor. 3:5 Not that we are sufficient of ourselves to think any thing as of ourselves; but
our sufficiency is of God;
Heavenly Lord:
Without you I can do nothing, and if I am a branch, then what I am
designed to do is bear fruit. Apart from you I can produce nothing, make
nothing, create nothing, accomplish nothing. Make me bear the fruits of the Spirit
expected from someone spiritually in union with Christ.
What grand fruit ought to come from such a root! Being a branch in you
Jesus, what special species I should produce! Yet I can do nothing if there is not a
constant union. Let me use that thought to help me fulfill Pauls commands to
1 Thess. 5:16-19 Rejoice evermore. Pray without ceasing. In every thing give thanks:
for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you. Quench not the Spirit.
Do I make sure to take Christ with me? If I am on my way, do I suddenly
stop and say, I am without my Master. I dare not go another step? Make the
abiding consciousness of your presence through your Spirit (communion with
you) the basic fundamental element of my strength and spiritual power.
Power to change the human will, power to enlighten the minds of the lost
to the things of God, power to influence their attitude toward repentance and
faithsurely these things come only from you. Do I really believe that, or do I
rely on self?
The power lies with the Master. The might is not in the sword, but in the
Spirit that wields it. We must have Christ in our pews, in our aisles, in our pulpits,
and in my cubicle when I stand up to speak for him. Make me feel him with me,
even to the end of the world. Give me grace to acknowledge you in all things
today so revival will be on my path. I ask it for Jesus glory. Amen.
MONDAYEVANGELISTIC PRAYER
Chronological Bible Reading: Proverbs 4-6; 2 Corinthians 12
Monday, September 7
John 3:16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that
whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
Dan. 9:9-10 To the Lord our God belong mercies and forgivenesses, though we have
rebelled against him; Neither have we obeyed the voice of the LORD our God, to walk in his
laws, which he set before us by his servants the prophets.
Almighty and Merciful Father:
We have sinned and strayed. Like lost sheep, we have wandered from your
will and followed too much the devices and desires of our own hearts. We have
offended your holiness, and left undone those things we should have done, while
we have done those things we ought not to have done. There is no soundness in
us apart from the holiness your Spirit provides.
1 Cor. 1:30 But of him are ye in Christ Jesus, who of God is made unto us wisdom,
and righteousness, and sanctification, and redemption:
So Lord, we count on your mercy, not because of our merits, but because
of the sanctification purchased for us by Jesus Christ with his bloody sweat in the
garden, and his death up on the cross. Have mercy Lord, upon us miserable
offenders. Spare those that confess their sins. Restore those who repent. Do this
for us today, according to the promises you declare in your word, and so revive
us again toward your Eternal Purpose.
Grant most merciful Father, for your Son Jesus sake, that we may live
God-like lives today. The thing that pleases you most is righteousness, and in all
soberness of prayer we claim the righteousness of Christ as our breastplate
against the tempter. Give us conquering grace over the Evil One, and through
your bountiful goodness deliver us from the bonds of those sins that in our frailty
we have committed. Keep our church pure for your greater usefulness.
Grant this, O heavenly Father, for Jesus Christs sake and to the glory of
your holy name. Amen.
Psa. 5:3 My voice shalt thou hear in the morning, O LORD; in the morning will I
direct my prayer unto thee, and will look up.
O Righteous and Merciful Lord:
Some prayers I express in words, and some in silent meditation. Words are
not the essence of my prayers, but they are the garments of some of them. When
I can formulate my pleas into words they prevent my distraction, excite my
devotion, and assist my soul in coming before you. But Lord, help me cultivate
the spirit of prayer, which is even better than the habit of prayer. So make me
careful to keep the stream of meditation flowing throughout this day.
Let me start to pray even before I kneel, and not stop praying after I rise.
While the dew is still on the grass, I want grace to drop in my soul. I will give you
the mornings of my days and the days of my life. Make prayer for me the key to
the day, and the lock I use at night. I will make this discipline my morning and
evening stars!
I miss much of the power of prayer when I do not prepare my heart to
pray, and do not expect answers after I pray. Let my preparation lock-wrists with
patient expectation, so I can see far greater answers to my prayer!
Psa. 5:7 But as for me, I will come into thy house in the multitude of thy mercy: and in
thy fear will I worship toward thy holy temple.
Lord, I know you cannot feel at home in the living room of my heart if I
host the Devil in the basement of my thoughts! Since I have a multitude of sins, I
approach you for the multitude of your mercies. While your judgments are all
numbered, your mercies are innumerable. You give wrath by weight, but your
mercy without weighing it. I count on your mercy this weekend Lord, for all the
lost sinners who will come to our services. Meet them and us! Amen.

HOW TO BUILD A BALANCED LIFE
THIS WEEKS EVENTS & ACTIVITIES
1)
TIMEWORSHIP
Mark 1:35 And in the morning, rising up a great while before day, he went out, and
departed into a solitary place, and there prayed.
GIVE GOD THE FIRST PART OF EVERY DAY. The first commitment is
to a daily quiet time with God. Our weekly Prayer Diary provides a template for daily
devotions.
2)
TITHEWORK
1 Cor 16:2 Upon the first day of the week let every one of you lay by him in store, as God
hath prospered him, that there be no gatherings when I come.
GIVE GOD THE FIRST DIME OF EVERY DOLLARno questions
asked. Ten percent is a miniscule amount in our affluent society, but it must come
off the top in order to show that God is our priority. We want the blessing of the
firstfruits (first devotion, first dime and first day) to flow out to the rest of our
resources.

INSTRUCTIONS:
Baptists tend to ridicule liturgical churches that use "prepared prayers" because
they lack spontaneity. But for many Baptists, their prayers are so predictable they are
no more spontaneous than written-out prayers. The result is we end up praying the
same things over and over.
MONDAY
Labor Day Picnic Our annual all-church picnic is at Baumgardner Park, just
across 22nd St. west of the church from 11:00A.M.-4:00P.M. The park has a ball
diamond and playgrounds. Bring other equipment for games. Lunch is at
12:30P.M. Meat is provided; please bring a side dish or dessert by Noon! (In
case of rain we will eat in the HBC Gym.)
This daily Prayer Diary will prompt you on a wide range of prayer requests you
might not normally think of, while forcing you to articulate a deeper devotion to
God. We have included a daily Bible reading schedule. This plan will take you
through the Bible chronologically in a year.

Do not read ahead and do not try to catch up. Use each day as it comes. Then
you can know that on any given day, dozens of other people are lifting their hearts in
the same mind to God. Pray what is written, but use what is prayed as a springboard
for your own relationship with God. You learn to pray by praying.
Alan
Secret prayer is the secret of prayer, the soul of prayer, the seal of prayer, the
strength of prayer. If you do not pray alone you do not pray at all. Our Lord Jesus
Christ would go nowhere till He had prayed. He would attempt nothing till He had
prayed.
Oh, says one, I live in the spirit of prayer, and therefore I do not need times
and seasons for prayer. And do you think that Christ did not live in the spirit of
prayer? Yet He had to have his special time and place to pray. Do not fall under the
injurious notion that because your spirit cries to God in prayer all day long, therefore
there must not be some season for more immediately coming into Gods presence. If
you imagine this, I am afraid that it will prove a snare to your feet. The Lord Jesus
Christ, who knew better than you do that the main thing is the spirit of prayer rather
than the act of prayer, yet Himself retired into desert places to maintain the act and
exercise of prayer. Be spiritual. Be baptized into the spirit of prayer. But do not be
deceived by the enemy, who can steal a spirit away while we dream that we only
spiritualize it. We had better preserve the very bones of prayerthe posture, the
time, placerather than let it all ooze away into an impalpable mental condition.
God keep us prayerful. He will do so if He makes us like His dear Son.
Charles H. Spurgeon, 1834-92
