DBB. The list is split in two sections, according to usability and frequenct use of the
entities.
LISTs
The elements' lists now include subcategories of the various types and orders that may be
included in the database.

The pull down menu displayed when right click on an empty space, is also available
through the button shown in the picture.
The option Clear Selection has been added in the list, when there is no empty space
to clear selections.
When there are no selected entities, the option Apply to All appears at the top of the
list. This indicates that whichever application of the list is pressed, it will be applied to
the whole model.
New option Send to > Current function enables the user to choose the entities from
the DBB list and send them to the currently active function for process.

Data Management
Compare Function
The new Compare function allows the full comparison of two models. The identified
differences can concern geometry, attributes, solver-specific definitions and connections.
Comparison can take place in terms of hierarchy i.e. in a parts/group structure mode.
Alternatively, the comparison of entities are displayed in a flat list. A toggle button switches
between the two display modes.
16

DM Browser
The DM Browser is a new tool that allows the browsing of the current DM root contents.
Especially for parts, groups and includes browsing, the user can identify the available CAD
versions, study versions and representations and select which files to merge in the current
ANSA session and by which files to replace the ones currently used.
20
August 2010
View Modes
Two view modes are available for the display of DM contents: Tree list-view that reflects to
the directory structure and the flat-list view where the actual files are displayed.
21
August 2010
Find Matches in DM
In cases where the module id is missing and hence, newer versions cannot be classified in
DM, ANSA can find the best match according to geometry comparison, with the function
Find Matches in DM.
Check DM Updates
The results of the Check DM Updates function are now reported in the DM Browser.
DM Paths
15226
New option to enable/disable the current DM root, without deleting them. In the Set DM
Paths list, a new option Unset current is available by right click on the path.
Also, set the current DM root by double click on the path.

August 2010
New option in Graphical User Interface to switch between 32bit and 64 bit.
Script path can now be given in the field provided, that will be run for the
translation. The script is also saved in the options.
Added option -create_sets, to create named sets of two or more named entities.
If surfaces have been converted, then a set named CONVERTED_ENTITIES is created.
-read_attributes, which reads attributes from entities that are stored in comments.
-help option added, to bring up all the options that can be used with the unified CAD Translator.
-use_orient_vec, searches for a curve on a specified layer,
in order to identify it as a vector and assign the proper
orientation to the faces.
-layer_thick, now works also for parallel lines that are
connected with small curves at their edges.
-flatten, is always ON for neutral formats.
-part2pid creates one PSHELL property for each part, named according to the parts' names.
-ANSAcolor, assigns a different color to each body PID.
-notANSAcolor option, uses the CAD color for each body PID.
Geometry mode has been added fir the JT Open translation mode. Now, the user can specify what type
of geometries to read:
Solids and Shells
Solids only
Shells only
Level of detail (LOD) is now available for the JT
Open translation mode.
Geometry of type XTB-rep is now supported by t e JT Translator. TOPOLOGY is now also translated
using the curves from the edges. Orientation of faces is also supported and translated when geometry of
type XTB-rep is used. XTP-rep support is being built with JTOpen Toolkit v5.3 and supports JT File
Format Version 8.0.
The behavior of creation of Property IDs is now changed for IGES. The option -singlepidis now always
ON for IGES in order to avoid problems due to missing topology.
A Directory List button is added in NX (UG Open) mode in order to help users with the creation of the
searchdirs.txt file required for NX assemblies. (In order for NX to ANSA translation to work properly with
assemblies, you need to inform the translator where to search for the individual files that make up the
assembly.)
The location where the GUI options are saved has changed. It is now written in the:
/.BETA/ANSA/version_13.1.0/ directory (in the same directory where the ANSA defaults file is saved)
and the file is named TranslatorGUIoptions.dat. This file is written automatically only if you click on
the Save options button.

The target element length of the result model, is defined in the Automatic Middle-Surface Mesh
Generator window.
The model thickness is assigned to the generated shell elements as grid thickness. This can
be visible by switching the visibility mode to element thickness (EL.THICK).
The procedure requires to indicate the model's Minimum thickness that is the shortest length
of opposite sides throughout model, in order to issue accurate results.
Element type and target element length concern the generated model. If the latter is not
specified, ANSA considers a value close to the Minimum thickness.
Join perimeters with distance <, will combine perimeters if their distance is less than the
specified value.

Multi-core CPU usage for surface meshing is supported. All surface meshing
algorithms of ANSA will generate mesh using parallel technology (for multicore
PCs) and therefore, reduce meshing time.

function, which is operated through a common and
more intuitive window.
Tab Free replaces the former MV FREE operation
whereas, the Surface option is the former MV
SURF.

holes and washers, in the way that MV HOLE
sliding operated.
Perims Offset operates similarly to Slide with
extrapolating ability. For more than two grids
selection, the function works like the former MV
HOLE with the option Offset.
Shells Normal option, moves grids with respect to
the normal of the shell elements they belong to.
Right mouse button performs Origin function. Undo
and Redo are also provided, taking into account
also any origin operation.
Upon activation of the function, the Options
window is shown up. The user can set options
including the mesh improvement and selection
mode.
PASTE: Grids that lay on perimeters can now be pasted. That applies also for
mid-grids of 2nd order elements.

SHELL MESH RECONS / RESHAPE: The new selection option Advanced has replaced the
Violating. Enabling any of the Fillets, Flanges or Holes flags, the
elements that fall in the defined criteria within Mesh Parameters, will be
automatically selected and reconstructed / reshaped. In a same way, the
Violating will apply on the elements that according to defined Quality Criteria
(F11 card) exceed the thresholds. The Expand level will select extra element
zones according to desired input.
PARAM.:
The button has been placed on the top Menubar (as toolbar button)
and it does not exist in Mesh menu anymore.
The Expression option, provides the user with the ability to combine
an expression with a factor, using any of the basic mathematical
operations.

by the number of shells that share the current node.
C.SHELLs that are created from existing shell elements that have triple
boundaries, penetration can be avoided by definition of slightly offset
elements that are connected with a tied contact.
C.SHELL to SHELL conversion can be done via script, using the

ConvertRBE2ToMPC: Function that converts RBE2s to MPCs.
CheckPropsWithSameName: Check for properties sharing the same name. Results are reported in the
Checks List.
CheckNCOGifSlave: Checks the database for PAMCRASH RBodies whose NCOG is also included as
a slave node.
