Background of the study

Computers are used largely as a tool for greater increase productivity
in the school. Different kinds of software, tools and networking applications
allow employees to organized their workflow and achieve their assigned task
faster and in more efficient way.
Computers help a lot in compiling a lot of data which are used to be in
hard copies. One of the general benefits of computers is that they are able to
provide and retrieve information quickly. Computers also have the

advantage of updating data rapidly and easily, they can also analyze
past data. By using the right and proper computer application, librarian
activities can be performed easier and faster. Automated data storage and
retrieval can have more accurate results.

College of Arts and Science is still using the traditional process

on lending a book to the borrower. Library system records all the
information of a book that can be found at the library. Having an
automated record of books has a great benefit for the librarian and the
borrower because it will be easier to find the book by retrieving only
the data in the system and easily determined if a book is still available
or not. The system also includes the records of the borrowers/students
and the books that they borrowed.

Objectives of the study

General Objectives

To design and develop an Electronic Management System

for Academic Records in the College of Arts and Sciences.

Specific Objectives
To track the academic ranking of students in a class.
To make a database for data such as grades.
To retrieve grades of students faster.
To produce reports such as Report of Rating and Evaluation
Sheet faster.

VIII.

Methodology
Requirements Analysis
In this phase, collection of information such as the CAS
Library rules and regulations is involved in the activity to fully
understand the problems in the current system of the library. The
librarians were the people who were interviewed.
System Design and Construction
After the collection of information, the researcher used
system models for logical and physical designs of the proposed
system.
System Testing and Maintenance
The system must be under go through a series of test by
the developer as well as the librarians of College of Arts and
Sciences.
