Genex to Partner with Allied Genetic Resources

Allied Genetic Resources and Genex have signed an agreement, initiated with the
contract signing of two great sires, 1SM00155 NIGHTRIDE (SimAngusTM) and
1SM00153 COWBOY CUT (Purebred Simmental). We appreciate Allied manager,
Marty Ropp's help to facilitate these bulls coming to Genex.

Allied Genetic Resources has grown to 71 member owners and is poised to add
one to three more in the near future. The owners market approximately 6000 bulls
annually and are located in 23 states from Washington and California in the west,
to Alabama, North Carolina and Virginia in the eastern U.S. Those bulls would
break down by breed with the following estimates: 3500 SimAngus, 1500
Purebred Simmental, 400 Angus, 300 Red Angus, 150 Balancers and 60
Shorthorn.

The Allied membership currently maintains a cow herd of more than 20,000
registered females, not including females in cooperator or other related herds. In
addition, the ownership runs roughly 5000 commercial females. Currently, more
than half of the yearling information, ultrasound and now DNA information
reported to the American Simmental Association is generated from Allied herds.
Allied believes the impact these herds have on genetic improvement is even
greater than the volume of data might suggest, because that information stems
almost entirely from large, well-documented contemporary groups and a history of
commitment to whole herd reporting. None of the numbers quoted above include
our growing relationships with other large seedstock producers who work closely
with our staff as Allied Partners.
The primary value of our Allied business however, lies in the combined reputation
of our ownership and their commercial customer base, which we estimate at
between 500,000 and 600,000 females. Commitment to customer success, a
desire to use information and technology to breed more valuable seedstock and
willingness to prioritize the commercial beef business are also cornerstones of the
Allied membership. We are not a breed specific organization despite our large
number of SimAngus and Simmental members. We believe instead that breeders
with a similar focus on the larger beef business and their commercial customers
have far more in common than breed lines and loyalties could ever compare to in
the long term.
The primary responsibilities of the now six employee owners of the Allied
business are to offer meaningful service to the Allied owners' customer base and
in return help to secure the future success of our member owners. Those services
range from commercial marketing opportunities for feeder cattle and replacement
females, genetic consulting and procurement, supply chain development options,
information collection and use, as well as industry networking opportunities. All of
these services are directed toward our members' customers to help promote
customer retention and recruitment.
