Statement of Problem: Students understanding of Power
System Analysis in class has taken a deep because they are
taught the required analysis but have no idea what happens
during the dynamics of the system. This problem motivated this
work as the development of a graphic user interface will help
demonstrate to students the various responses obtained for
specified parameters. This will enable students understand the
dynamics of such a system and can hence enable the students
improve the response of the system by tweaking system
parameters.
Background: Power system Analysis is an important course for
electrical and electronics engineering students. In this course
student will study representation of power system components,
per unit quantities, formation of admittance and impedance
matrix, symmetrical components, short circuit fault study, load
flow analysis, transmission line representation and performance
analysis, Stability studies of power system including steady
state and transient stability, Economic operation of power
system. Power flow studies are the backbone for power system
analysis, stability and design. They are necessary for planning,
