SPECIFICATIONS & OPTIONS

STANDARDS

TERMINALS & TERMINAL BOX

Stamford industrial generators meet the requirements of BS EN

60034 and the relevant section of other international standards
such as BS5000, VDE 0530, NEMA MG1-32, IEC34, CSA C22.2
100, AS1359.
Other standards and certifications can be considered on request.

Standard generators are 3-phase reconnectable with 12 ends

brought out to the terminals, which are mounted on a cover at
the non-drive end of the generator. A sheet steel terminal box
contains the AVR and provides ample space for the
customers' wiring and gland arrangements. It has removable
panels for easy access.

VOLTAGE REGULATORS
SHAFT & KEYS
AS440 AVR - STANDARD
With this self-excited system the main stator provides power via
the Automatic Voltage Regulator (AVR) to the exciter stator.
The high efficiency semi-conductors of the AVR ensure positive
build-up from initial low levels of residual voltage.
The exciter rotor output is fed to the main rotor through a threephase full-wave bridge rectifier. The rectifier is protected by a
surge suppressor against surges caused, for example, by short
circuit or out-of-phase paralleling.
The AS440 will support a range of electronic accessories,
including a 'droop' Current Transformer (CT) to permit parallel
operation with other ac generators.

All generator rotors are dynamically balanced to better than

BS6861:Part 1 Grade 2.5 for minimum vibration in operation.
Two bearing generators are balanced with a half key.
INSULATION/IMPREGNATION

APPROVED DOCUMENT

The insulation system is class 'H'.

All wound components are impregnated with materials and
processes designed specifically to provide the high build
required for static windings and the high mechanical strength
required for rotating components.
QUALITY ASSURANCE

MX341 AVR
This sophisticated AVR is incorporated into the Stamford
Permanent Magnet Generator (PMG) control system.
The PMG provides power via the AVR to the main exciter, giving
a source of constant excitation power independent of generator
output. The main exciter output is then fed to the main rotor,
through a full wave bridge, protected by a surge suppressor.
The AVR has in-built protection against sustained overexcitation, caused by internal or external faults. This de-excites
the machine after a minimum of 5 seconds.
An engine relief load acceptance feature can enable full load to
be applied to the generator in a single step.
If three-phase sensing is required with the PMG system the
MX321 AVR must be used.
We recommend three-phase sensing for applications with
greatly unbalanced or highly non-linear loads.

Generators are manufactured using production procedures

having a quality assurance level to BS EN ISO 9001.
The stated voltage regulation may not be maintained in the
presence of certain radio transmitted signals. Any change in
performance will fall within the limits of Criteria 'B' of EN
61000-6-2:2001. At no time will the steady-state voltage
regulation exceed 2%.
DE RATES
All values tabulated on page 8 are subject to the following
reductions
5% when air inlet filters are fitted.
3% for every 500 metres by which the operating altitude
exceeds 1000 metres above mean sea level.
3% for every 5C by which the operational ambient
temperature exceeds 40C.
Note: Requirement for operating in an ambient exceeding
60C must be referred to the factory.

MX321 AVR
The most sophisticated of all our AVRs combines all the features
of the MX341 with, additionally, three-phase rms sensing, for
improved regulation and performance.
Over voltage protection is built-in and short circuit current level
adjustments is an optional facility.

WINDINGS & ELECTRICAL PERFORMANCE

NB Continuous development of our products entitles us to
change specification details without notice, therefore they
must not be regarded as binding.

All generator stators are wound to 2/3 pitch. This eliminates

triplen (3rd, 9th, 15th ) harmonics on the voltage waveform
and is found to be the optimum design for trouble-free supply of
non-linear loads. The 2/3 pitch design avoids excessive neutral
currents sometimes seen with higher winding pitches, when in
parallel with the mains. A fully connected damper winding
reduces oscillations during paralleling. This winding, with the 2/3
pitch and carefully selected pole and tooth designs, ensures very
low waveform distortion.

Front cover drawing typical of product range.

This winding, with the 2/3
pitch and carefully selected pole and tooth designs, ensures very
low waveform distortion.

triplen (3rd, 9th, 15th ) harmonics on the voltage waveform
and is found to be the optimum design for trouble-free supply
of non-linear loads. The 2/3 pitch design avoids excessive
neutral currents sometimes seen with higher winding pitches,
when in parallel with the mains. A fully connected damper
winding reduces oscillations during paralleling. This winding,
with the 2/3 pitch and carefully selected pole and tooth
designs, ensures very low waveform distortion.

TERMINALS & TERMINAL BOX

With this self excited control system the main stator supplies
power via the Automatic Voltage Regulator (AVR) to the exciter
stator. The high efficiency semiconductors of the AVR ensure
positive build-up from initial low levels of residual voltage.
The exciter rotor output is fed to the main rotor through a three
phase full wave bridge rectifier. This rectifier is protected by a
surge suppressor against surges caused, for example, by short
circuit.

Standard generators are 3-phase reconnectable with 12 ends

brought out to the terminals, which are mounted on a cover at
the non-drive end of the generator. A sheet steel terminal box
contains the AVR and provides ample space for the
customers' wiring and gland arrangements. It has removable
panels for easy access.

nd the corresponding cfm airow in the table at right. The
restriction numbers (shown in inches of water) indicate the
approximate initial restriction of each model air cleaner at
that cfm. If there are two air cleaner models that t your
parameters, choosing the one with the lowest restriction will
provide longest lter service life. When calculating total initial
restriction of the entire air intake system, include the restriction
caused by ducting, elbows, and pre-cleaners.

ECG style air

cleaners have
three cover latches
that need to
perform correctly
to ensure the
filter gasket is
sealing properly.
These latches
should be checked
for tightness and wear. To check for
tightness, close all three latches, then
open and close them one at a time. There
should be good tension and should snap
tightly when closed. If any latches seem
loose or rattle, they should be replaced.

NOTES:

1 = Filter is treated with chemical for carbon

resistance and is not cleanable
2 = Two required for proper installation
3 = Shipped with air cleaner initially
5 = Also requires access cover P150862
6 = Access cover is attached to filter
E S = Extended Service
HE = High Efficiency

HIGH PERFORMANCE CURRENT OUTPUT PRESSURE TRANSMITTERS

NOSHOK 100 Series Current Output Pressure Transmitters are designed
to provide a previously unequalled level of performance, utilizing diffused
semiconductor and sputtered thin film strain gage technology. 100 Series
transmitters are highly repeatable, shock resistant and are extremely
stable over long periods of time. CE compliance which includes
substantial levels of RFI, EMI and ESD noise protection combined with
reverse polarity and over-voltage protection hardens the product so it
performs well in the most demanding applications.
Advanced manufacturing techniques combined with technologically
advanced standard features allow NOSHOK to offer a level of
performance previously found only on transducers costing hundreds
of dollars more. Final calibration tests performed on all NOSHOK
transmitters prior to shipment ensures 100% out of the box reliability

NRG Battery Charger Benefits and Features

Failure to start due to battery problems is the

leading cause of inoperable engine generator sets.

SENS NRG battery charger maximizes starting system reliability while slashing genset servicing costs:
One NRG replaces almost any charger without extra site visits. Installers can select or change at
any time 120, 208 or 240 volts AC input, 12 or 24-volt battery and output settings optimized for nearly
any lead-acid or nickel cadmium battery.
Easy to understand user interface provides state-of-the-art system status including digital
metering, NFPA 110 alarms and a battery fault alarm that can send service personnel to the site
before failure to start.
Batteries charged by NRG give higher performance and last longer. In uncontrolled environments
precision charging by SENS increases battery life and watering intervals 400% or more.
NRG meets all relevant industry standards including UL, NFPA 110 and CE. Seismic Certification
per International Building Code (IBC) 2000, 2003, 2006. All units are C-UL listed. 50/60 Hz units

Summary:
The TVC was performed to evaluate the feasibility of DI13 075M with Stamford
alternator. The vibratory torque levels for the main bearings does not exceed
designed limits during normal operation and misfire. The heat dissipation for the
crankshaft damper does not exceed designed limits during normal operation and
misfire. The vibratory torque levels for the alternator should be verified by the
manufacturer.
Scania Engines approves the installation regarding torsional vibrations for
Scania components.

Torsional Vibration Calculation made by Scania

The Scania torsional vibration calculation (TVC) is made with the Matrix method.
The calculation is based on the technical data supplied to Scania by the customer or the
manufacturer for items involved in the secondary system that are not manufactured by Scania.
An approved calculation is valid for and constitutes a guarantee, with reference to the general
Scania guarantee conditions, for all Scania engine products in the subjected set in respect of
torsional vibration. The approval as such is thus not to be construed as a general system
guarantee in other respects.
For non-Scania products no responsibility will be taken, but a warning can be given for
components exposed for high vibratory nominal stresses. The supplier of the complete set,
diesel engine + driven equipment, ought to confirm the torsional capability of respective
components on basis of the torsional vibration calculation.
ISO 3046/V is valid, where applicable.
We can not on basis of the torsional vibration calculation give any statement nor guarantee
concerning speed-hunting.
