Job Summary:

Under supervision of attending staff, observes and provides medical services within scope of
practice to patients in an assigned area.

Responsibilities:

Participates in the clinical evaluation and care of patients in a variety of patient care settings in
order to achieve the competencies required by the residency program.
Communicates with the attending physician regarding the results of evaluations, physical examinations,
interpretation of diagnostic tests, and intended/performed interventions.
Participates in research programs and educational presentations as required by residency program.
Works effectively in various health care delivery settings and systems relevant to clinical specialty.
Provides supervision to medical students and more junior resident staff and provides feedback and
evaluation to these individuals.
Writes orders for patients under their care with the supervision of privileged attending staff.
Provides accurate and necessary documentation within the medical record of the care provided to
patients.
Completes medical records as per the policies of the medical staff under the guidance and supervision of
the attending staff.
Maintains an accurate log of procedures performed in accordance with specific program requirements.
Evaluates programs effectiveness and participates in quality improvement activities.
Performs other duties as assigned.

Complexity of Work:

Within scope of job, requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal
supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment.

Personal Protective Equipment:

Follows Standard Precautions using personal protective equipment as required.

Minimum Qualifications
Licensure / Certification / Registration:
Residency Permit
Eligible for Texas Basic Post Graduate Resident Training Permit at hire or job transfer
date.

Education:

Doctor of Medicine.
Graduation from an approved LCME, AOA or International Medical School is required.

Work Experience:

Successful completion of PGY 1, 2, & 3 training years.
