The hospitality industry is a broad category of fields within service


industry that includes lodging event planning theme park transportation
cruise lines, and additional fields within the tourism industry. A hospitality
unit such as a restaurant, hotel, or an amusement park consists of
multiple groups such as facility maintenance and direct operations
(servers,
housekeepers,
porters,
kitchen
workers, bartenders
management, marketing, and human resources etc.).

The hospitality industry is much broader than most other industries. The
hospitality industry is a multi-billion dollar industry that depends on the
availability of leisure time and disposable income. While this industry is very
broad, there are some defining aspects that are important to understand. The
majority of
business niches are composed of only a handful of
different businesses, but this industry applies to nearly any company that is
focused on customer satisfaction and meeting leisurely needs rather than
basic ones.

History of Hospitality Industry

Hospitality is the way of treating people in the way you want yourself to be
treated.
Hotels are called "home away from home" because it's the only place where
we get food & accommodation, provided all luxuries and comfort. The
hospitality also increases profit and reputation of the hotel. it also provide
handsome amount of revenue and give name and fame to the hotel. These
days we can easily get hospitality in retail outlets hotels hospitals and offices
and competition is so high that everyone wants to attract customer by one
mean or other.
In ancient times, when wheel was not discovered since then people use to
travel by walking, the cover long distance at that time sine then the concept
of hospitality was there but was no interest of money or any economic profit
travellers use to stay in homes of villagers then slowly inns were accruable but
in very low rent.

Size of Hospitality Industry?

The number of Foreign Tourist Arrivals (FTAs) has grown steadily in the
last three years reaching around 7.46 million during JanuaryDecember
2014. Foreign exchange earnings (FEEs) from tourism in terms of US
dollar grew by 7.1 per cent during January-December 2014 as compared
to 5.9 per cent over the corresponding period of 2013. FTAs during the
Month of December 2014 were Rs 120,083 crore (US$ 19.02 billion) as
compared to FTAs of Rs 107,671 crore (US$ 17.05 million) during
January-December 2013 over the corresponding period of 2012. There
has been a growth of 6.8 per cent in December 2014 over December
2013.

Foreign Exchange Earnings (FEEs) during the month of December 2014


were Rs 12,875 crore (US$ 2.03 billion) as compared to Rs 11,994 crore
(US$1.9 billion) in December 2013 and Rs 10,549 crore (US$1.67 billion)
in December 2012.The growth rate in FEEs in rupee terms in December
2014 over December 2013 was 7.3 per cent. FEEs from tourism in rupee
terms during January-December 2014 were Rs 120,083 (US$ 1,902.53)
with a growth of 11.5 per cent over the corresponding period of 2013.

The Tourist Visa on Arrival (TVoA) scheme enabled by Electronic Travel


Authorisation (ETA), launched by the Government of India on November
27, 2014 for 43 countries has led to a growth of 1,214.9 percent
recently. For example, during the month of January 2015, a total of
25,023 tourist arrived by availing TVoA as compared to 1,903 TVoA
during the month of January 2014.

Hospitality, a major segment of tourism, has grown by 10-15 per cent


on the back of better consumer sentiment with the change of
Government. As demand is going up occupancies are improving.

The growth of Hospitality Industry has been gone up in percentages since in


1995 the percentages were 41% but it has increased in each year and now in
2015 the rate of the growth has been increased by42% i.e 83%

From the year 2022 the employment rate is going high and In year 2022
Hospitality Industry will need 1.2million employees for Industry

A restaurant is a business which prepares and serves food and drinks to
customers in exchange for money, either paid before the meal, after the
meal, or with an open account. Meals are generally served and eaten on
premises, but many restaurants also offer take out and food delivery
service . Restaurants vary greatly in appearance and offerings, including a
wide variety of cuisine and service models ranging from inexpensive fast
food restaurants to high-priced luxury establishments.

An Pub is an establishment licensed to serve Alcoholic Drinks for
consumption on the premises. Irish pubs are to be found in cities
throughout the world. Pub also have Dance floor to enjoy dance and
alcoholic Beverages.
