TOPIC: Floorball

SPECIFIC LEARNING OBJECTIVES


Psychomotor
a) Ability to dribble, pass and receive the ball using the correct body stance.
b) Ability to execute accurate forehand and backhand passes to the blade of a teammate from about 10m away.
c) Ability to move with the ball in control.
Cognitive
a) Understand that a correct body stance allows them to execute the skills more easily.
b) Understand the benefits of passing the ball to the blade side of the teammate.
Affective
a) Appreciate a new skill of handling a stick in the new game of floorball.

students into 6 groups
of 5 students each.
This group will remain
for whenever groupings

activities.

Rules
High stick: Blade should not go
above students waist level.
Slash: Player cannot hit his
opponents stick or any part of
the body with own stick.
Stick between legs: Player
cannot try and win the ball by
putting his stick through the
legs of another.

Students learn the rules of the


game and learn to take care of
each others safety.

Students are to form


two semi circles in front
of the teacher so that
the teacher can assess
their progress.

INTRODUCTION
Teacher will spell out some basic
rules to the students. These rules
are there for safety and should be
emphasized.
Teacher will then demonstrate the
proper stance to use when playing
the game and the proper way to
hold the stick.
Students are to mimic the teachers
actions.

PRACTICE TASK 1
Students are to form 3 rows in front
of the teacher. Each student will
have a ball.
Teacher will start by getting
students to do a left-right by
bringing the ball from their left foot
to their right foot and back again

Students are to learn the


basics of dribbling which begin
from controlling the ball in a
stationary position.

Teacher to direct students to a
circuit that has already been set up.
This circuit will test the students

PRACTICE TASK 2
Teacher will demonstrate and
explain the concepts of passing and
controlling the ball.
First task will be to execute relay
passing. Students are to line up on
opposite sides about 15m apart.
After making a pass, student will
run across and join the back of the
queue on the opposite side.

Receiving
a) Cushion the ball
b) Stick always on the
ground

Rule: Students are not


allowed to pass the ball
yet. The ball must be in
control of their blade
from the start of their
relay until the end.

APPLICATION TASK
Students are to play a game with
proper goalposts but without
goalkeepers.
The objective is to pass the ball
into the net. A hard shot is not
required as there is no goalkeeper.
10 players will be on court at a time
only. Each shift will last for about 2
minutes before the teacher blows
the whistle. All players to leave the
court when the whistle is blown and
next set of 10 players to enter.

LESSON CONCLUSION
Teacher to conduct cool down.
Teacher to recap with students
learning points for the day:
Dribbling, passing and receiving.

Line change
a) Only five players (and
one goalkeeper not
in play) on court per
team at a time.
b) Players must leave
court before next set
comes in.
c) Conserve energy and
increase intensity.

Players are to be exposed to


the concept of a line change,
crucial in a floorball game.
Although not always on court,
students will be forced to
increased their intensity while
playing as playing time has
suddenly been limited. They
are less likely to slack on
court.

Teacher to explain the


concept of line change
before the game
begins.
