If 1 team displays an excellent drill, have

them demonstrate to the rest of the class
If teams are struggling are not conducting
appropriate drills:

Player A begins with ball under hoop passes
straight out to Player B
Player B passes back to Player A who is
moving to their right while remaining in goal
circle, Player A then passes to Player C at

Player C passes back to Player A who
shoots at the hoop
Player A now moves to position B, Player B
to C and Player C to A
Drill Option B
3 versus 2
3 players must work the ball to clear a
third while under pressure from 2
defenders
Rotate defenders regularly

Self-ReflectionGirls worked well once ideas were given for skills and encouragement, energy
was increased.
Majority of class has reasonable knowledge and skills of netball, although
teams may need to be changed to make it fairer and more even as Team 1
dominated.
Supervisor feedbackGirls responded to your level of energy, ensure it is at a high level for the
entire class.
Improve allocation of time, continue to monitor time of lesson
Be careful of moving around space that you still maintain supervision of the
rest of the class when giving feedback to a specific group/student

Tasks

Stage 1

Lesson Introduction.
Introduce myself and the
behavioural expectations
I have for the class.
Warm-Up Game:
Here, There & Everywhere
Students move freely
around a third of netball
court (possibly half-court
depending on
numbers)
On the instructions of the
teacher the players move
as follows:

Introduct
ion
0-10

1. Here: players run towards

the teacher
2. There: players run where
the teacher indicates
3. Everywhere: players run
anywhere they like,
dodging other players
4. Nowhere: players jog on
the spot
5. Stop/Whistle: players must
stop in a stable balanced
position

Stage 2
Body
10-20

Square Passing:
Students work in groups of
3 with one ball per group in
a square outlined by 4
cones. Students must pass
up the line of the square to
a player moving to the free
cone.

Teacher Action

Teacher in front of seated class.

Bench or ground depending on
background distractions and
environment.
Expectations:
Whistle means stop
Everyone involved
One person talking at a time
Warm-Up Game:
Highlight safety issues
What safety issues can you think of
during this activity?
How can we reduce the safety
risk?

Highlight importance of timing of

passes so that the receiver is
catching the ball as they get to the
open cone.
Modification: only bounce passes or
only chest pass
Cant pass back to player who you
received it from

20-30mins Catch Me If You Can:

Students remain in 3s with
one person a designated
defender.

Constant encouragement and

positive feedback

Students use the space of

designated

Students can now move freely

around with 2 players g
passin
to
one another and one attempting
to intercept the passes

30-45

Stage 3

2-Cone Touch:
Players are split into 2
even teams
One cone is placed inside
each side line of the thirdof the court you are using
The game starts with a
toss up in the middle of
the third. The team that wins this toss up passes
the ball between
themselves until they are
close enough to reach
and touch any 2 cones
with the ball. Once 2
cones have been touched
a point is scored and the
b all is returned for a toss
up to start the game
again.
Recap, debrief lesson.

Conclusion Revisit learning objectives

by the square from previous activity

but are not limited to the lines and
corners.
If a student intercepts the
l, the
bal
one who threw it now becomes the
defender.
Swap defenders after
-2 minutes
1
if
no interception has been made
If the ball is turned over by the
defending team before the team has
touched 2 cones, then that team
with the ball works to touch 2 cones
If a team has touched one cone,
loses the ball but then gets
back,it
they must touch 2 cones and cannot
count the previous touch
Set a goal e.g. the first team to score
4 points

Self
-Reflection:
Some students were confused during the square passing drill and needed extra t
before mastering it
Provision of time could have been smoother
Supervisor Feedback:
Good establishme
nt of rules at beginning of class
Great warm up game
were all students moving around?
Some refinement during skills/games may be needed to increase student partici
and motivation
