Abstract I am going to present here how to design a
highly efficient dc generator without using any
commutator on its shaft. I am going to design such a dc
generator in which there will be zero core losses and
negligible friction and windage losses as well as the weight
of rotor is also reduced 10 times lesser than ordinary
rotors. Core losses are nullified by using thin insulator
material for rotor core able to carry rotor windings. Power
consumed by field poles is zero because they are
neodymium permanent magnets. Weight of rotor is
reduced by using a light weight nonmagnetic and nonmetal material. Reluctance of rotor material doesnt
matter here because of a strong magnetic field produced
by field magnets. A disc rotor with slots on its inner and
outer periphery is wound by aluminium coil. Aluminium
coil and disc rotor will minimise the weight of rotating
body of machine minimising inertia of machine. In this
way the only energy consumed in machine is the power
required for electromechanical energy conversion, i.e.
power required to convert mechanical power into electrical
power to be taken out from generator terminals. So the
overall efficiency can reach up to 99.99 %( theoretically).

rotated by the prime mover, armature windings cut the

strong magnetic field produced stator magnets and an
electromotive force is induced in armature windings.
Armature windings are connected to slip rings on the
shaft and current is collected through brushes. As the
armature windings cut the flux always perpendicular,
the current will be purely dc and hence no need of
commutator.
III. CONSTRUCTION
The construction of this machine is advanced and
very efficient for power transfer. First part of the
construction
is the stator of the machine and it is
nothing but a permanent magnet with some ID and OD.
Another part of construction is rotor i.e. armature of the
machine and it carries windings.

INTRODUCTION

In this paper I am going to present how to design a

highly efficient electric generator. Such a generator can
be designed by decreasing losses in it. Main losses in
any generator are core losses and copper losses in
addition with windage and copper losses. These losses
are decreased here by using some unique designs and
materials also. This generator is having a very light
weight disc type rotor. This rotor is responsible
decreased losses in generator. Stator of the generator is
nothing but strong permanent magnets, these magnets
nullify the stator losses. In this way the rotor and stator
combine decrease the losses in generator.

It is disc rotor made of plastic fibre and it is 2mm
thin, and slots on it carry the windings on it. The light
weight material to be used for it reduces the rotor core
losses as well as the windage and friction losses are
reduced by its disc type shape. In this way this generator
improves its efficiency.

II. WORKING PRINCIPLE

The working principle of this generator is
depending on the Faradays law of Electromagnetic
induction. The disc rotor is carrying the armature
windings made of copper. Whenever rotor shaft is

IV. CONCLUSION
In this way a light weight rotor and its circular
shape can make a Commutatorless highly efficient dc
generator. This generator is different because it nullifies
the core losses that mean the core losses are zero here.
