PARENT-CHILD HOME PROGRAM COORDINATOR


Anticipated Salary Range:
Grade 10: $21.49 - $23.63
School Year Position - 22 Hours per Week
DEFINITION:
The Parent-Child Home Program (PCHP) Coordinator is responsible for coordinating the day-to-day operation of the Parent-Child Home
project, including coordination of PCHP home visitors, recruitment of families, making regular home visits, ordering and maintaining
inventory of materials, networking and outreach to community agencies, and other required program duties. Position is subject to
appropriation and grant award.
SUPERVISION:
Works under the direct supervision of the Early Childhood Coordinator and general direction of the Associate Director of Pupil Services.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Program Management and Administration: Coordinates daily program operations. In cooperation with the Pupil Services Department,
recruit, interview, and select Home Visitors for employment in the program. Recruit, interview and select families to participate in the
program. In consultation with the ED Coordinator, develop and implement the training of Home Visitors in accordance with curriculum
and School Department policies. Choose appropriate curricular materials in accordance with PCHP and School Department standards.
Order, maintain, monitor and distribute inventory of curricular materials. Write curriculum guide sheets as needed. Monitor and evaluate
home visitors. Conduct outreach and maintain ongoing contact with home visitor, early intervention, child care, pediatric and other
relevant community agencies. Give presentations on the program to local community groups and school officials. Assist in preparing
and monitoring yearly budget. Monitor program spending. Assist in the preparation of grant/funding proposals. Ensure compliance with
all funding and regulatory requirements and guidelines. Serve as liaison with the Parent-Child Home Programs National Center. Attend
relevant statewide and local meetings; additional duties as assigned.
Family Support: Work closely with NPS personnel who provide supportive services. Work closely with community agency personnel.
Assist participating families, at their request only, to access school and community resources and to interpret evaluations and procedures
that have resulted from a PCHP referral.
Home Visits: Make twice-weekly home visit with assigned families. Visit and interview all program families at least twice a year.
Data Collection and Participant Evaluation: Design and implement necessary forms and methods of documentation. Prepare and
maintain records, reports and/or test data on participating children. Analyze the results of such assessments and make recommendations
thereon. Participate in required on-line PCHP data collection.
RECOMMENDED MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education and Experience:
Bachelors degree in early childhood education, social services, adult education or related field.
Minimum of 2 years successful teaching, parent support, counseling or related experience.
Knowledge, Ability, and Skill :
Demonstrated understanding of child development and early childhood practice; Experience with early childhood, family literacy or other
parent involvement education programs; Experience in working with families with a variety of risk factors, including new immigrants
and/or refugees. Strong organizational and interpersonal skills; Attention to detail, good record keeping skills; Demonstrated verbal and
written communication skills; Demonstrated knowledge of computer programs including word processing and familiarity with internet
use.
Demonstrated skills at working in a collaborative project; Familiarity with human service agencies in Hampshire County;
Bilingual skills helpful, but not mandatory.
MA Class D Motor Vehicle Operators license required.
Physical Requirements:

Ability to lift young children and equipment necessary to work with them. Minimal/moderate physical effort to perform functions
necessary to work in home visit/office settings. Ability to operate a keyboard. Independent local travel and travel required for meetings
and conferences outside area, if necessary.
