1
People of the world, awake!
The dark night is over.
The light has come of Dhamma,
the dawn of happiness.

o pr viva ke,
suno Dharama k gyna.
Isame sukha hai nti hai,

2
Come, beings of the universe!
Listen to the wisdom of the Dhamma.
In this lies happiness and peace,
liberation, deliverance, nibbna.

Yaha to v Dharama k,

3
These are the words of Dhamma,
the flame of enlightenment-wisdom,
each syllable of them filled
and permeated with happiness.

Mh v Dharama k,

Kaly magalamay,

4
Sweet are the words of Dhamma,
each phrase like crystallized sugar,
yielding welfare and happiness,
suffused with the taste of the deathless.

not Sikh, Muslim or Jain;
Dhamma is purity of heart,
peace, happiness, serenity.

Sampradya n Dharama hai,

Dharama na bane divra.

Dhamma teaches love.

Yah Dharama k parakha hai,

Jana jana k magala kare,

17
This is the only test of Dhamma,
this is its only measure:
for everyone it provides well-being
and removes suffering.

Kudarata k knna hai,

isase bac na koya.
Maile mana vykula rahe,
niramala sukhiy hoya.

18
This is the law of nature,
which no one can escape:
a defiled mind remains agitated,
an unstained mind is happy.

Yaha ta hai, yaha niyama hai,

saba para lg hoya.
Dharma dhra sukha h mile,
che dukha h hoya.

19
This is the law, the rule,
which applies to one and all:
if you practice Dhamma you find happiness,
if you forsake it you are miserable.

Niradhana y dhanavna ho,

anapaha y vidavna.
Jisane mana mail kiy,
usake vykula pra.

20

whoever has defiled his mind

Gor kl gehu,

one must practice sla.
Not by body, speech or mind
should sla be broken.

26a
Right action is Dhamma,
wrong action is sin.
From right action comes happiness;
from wrong action, suffering and torment.
