COURSE OBJECTIVES
This programme will: Provide in-depth professional knowledge and skills for sound and
effective Occupational Safety and Health management practices
Enhance the legal knowledge pertaining to Occupational Safety and
Health and be acquainted with necessary know-how and techniques
for performing various Occupational Safety and Health activities
Create opportunities for career advancement and development in
Occupational Safety and Health within an organisation
Prepare participants for Safety and Health Officer Examination
conducted by the National Institute of Occupational Safety and
Health (NIOSH)

Duration
: 22 days

Evaluation
The evaluation will consist of a 3-hour written
examination after the completion of the lecture
sessions.
A compulsory assignment will have to be completed
upon completion of the course.
External Examination
Examination will be conducted at NIOSH at the end
of the course. Examination consists of four papers.

Guidelines
Dr Low Ah Tee (440121-01-5591) served in the Royal Malaysian Air Force (RMAF) for
over two decades as an electrical engineering officer. He was the aircraft accident investigator
for the RMAF for a five years period. He was the Safety and Training Manager of Airod Sdn
Bhd for 12 years. During this period he was instrumental in setting up the company safety and
training department. As a Safety Manager, he designed and managed safety programmes as
well as carrying out accident/incident investigations. He was also the chairman of the safety
and health committee. He also holds a BA with distinction in Health and Safety Management
from Robert Gordon University UK. He is also a B SC holder from Embry Riddle
Aeronautical University (US) and has a MBA from RMIT University (Australia). He has
given safety lectures and training sessions to private and public bodies and NGOs (such as
FMM, MSOSH, Rotary Club and IEM). Low completed his doctoral programme with a local
university and received his Doctorate in August 2007.
