TheFacultyofElectricalEngineering,MathematicsandComputerScience(EEMCS)isknownworldwideforitshighacademicqualityandthesocialrelevanceof

broadrangeoftechnicalinnovationsinthefieldsofsustainableenergy,telecommunications,microelectronics,embeddedsystems,computerandsoftware

TheDepartmentofIntelligentSystems(INSY)conceptualisescomputersciencemethodologiestosense,abstract,learn,reason,elicitandadaptdataandtheir
meaninginwaysthatrespecthumanvaluesinordertoincreasehumaneffectiveness,wellbeingandsocialinnovation.Attheheartofthedepartmentisresearch
andteachingincomputersciencetheory,algorithmsandsolutionsforinformationprocessingsystemsthatsupporthumans(e.g.robotics),newproducts(e.g.
Internetservices),andscience(e.g.biology).
TheComputerGraphicsandVisualizationGrouphasastrongresearchrecordandisknownforitsexpertiseinvisualization,modelling,gametechnology,and
rendering.Besidesthesemajortopics,interactiontechniques,virtual/augmentedreality,vision,perception,computationalphotography,andsimulationsplayan
importantrole.ThegroupalsoparticipatesstronglyintheDelftResearchInitiativesEnvironmentandHealth,thusaimingtofindsolutionsfortomorrows
problems.Thegroupmaintainsastrongnetworkofworldwidepartnersfromacademia,medicalcentresandtheindustry.

Jobdescription
Thisprojectisembeddedinthecontextofalargerconsortiumoptimisingtheilluminationconditionsingreenhouses.Themainobjectiveofourworkpackageisto
producenovelsolutionsforahighperformanceraytracerinvolvingvisualizationandinteractionpossibilities.
Wewillinvestigateseveralsubtasks,includinganewhierarchicalapproachandalternativerepresentationsforvisibilityandtransportqueries.Inaddition,wewill
extendourworktoamulticoreenvironmentandinvestigateprogressiverenderingsolutions.Finally,wewilldevelopspecialisedillustrationtechniquestosupport
lightanalysis.

Requirements
Wearelookingforacandidatewhomeetsthefollowingrequirements:
Youareatalentedandenthusiasticresearcher.
Youhaveexperiencewithorastrongbackgroundincomputergraphics,andimageprocessing.
Preferably,youhavecompletedamaster'sdegreeinthespecialityofComputerGraphicsinComputerScience.Alternatively,youmightqualifywithadiplomain
(Applied)Mathematics,(Applied)PhysicsorElectricalEngineeringifyouhavegraphicsexperience.
Youhaveexcellentprogrammingskills(C++,OpenGL).
Youhavegoodcommunicationskills.
Youarecreative,ambitious,hardworkingandpersistent.
YouhaveagoodcommandoftheEnglishlanguage(knowledgeofDutchisnotrequired).
