The High School Scholar/Athlete of the Week

We are in our 3rd year of partnering with 1010XL Jax Sports Radio to recognize
scholar/athletes who participate in Athletics and excel in Academics.
The Athletic Director and the School Counseling Office will nominate 2
deserving scholar/athletes a month (one male & one female). There will be one
weekly winner recognized at the school & interviewed on the radio.
They will receive a plaque from 1010XL and a certificate from District Athletics.
The nominees will have the opportunity to win a $2,500 scholarship (one male &
one female winner) to be announced at the All Gateway Conference Banquet on
May 16th 2016 at the Morocco Shrine Temple.
Applications and information can be submitted to the District Athletic Office
from the school. Attention: Tammie Talley, District Athletic Director.
The deadline dates are as follows:
Fall Sports:
Winter Sports:

September 30, October 21

November 23, December 16, January 20

Spring Sports:

February 19, March 19, April 14

Scholarship Criteria
ALL APPLICANTS MUST:
*Maintain at least a 3.0 GPA on an un-weighted 4.0 scale.
*Submit SAT and/or ACT composite Scores
*Have participated in a sanctioned Varsity Sport in High School
*Be a senior currently enrolled in a Duval County Public School

*Plan to attend and be accepted at a 2 or 4 year institution.

*Complete the attached application in full
