Nov/Dec 2005:
1. The top view of a 75mm long line AB measures 65mm, while length of its front view is 50mm. Its one end A is in the
H.P. and 12mm in front of the V.P. Draw the projections of AB and determine its inclinations with the H.P. and the V.P.
2. A square prism, side of base 30mm and axis 50mm long, has its axis inclined at 60 0 to HP. It has an edge of its base in
the HP and inclined at 450 to VP. Draw its projections.
3. A regular hexagon of 40 mm side has a corner in the H.P. Its surface is inclined at 45 degrees to the H.P. and the
diagonal through the corner which is in the H.P. makes an angle of 30 degrees with the V.P. Draw its projections.
4. A square prism, base 40 mm side and height 65 mm, has its axis inclined at 45 degrees to the H.P. and has an edge of
its base, on the H.P. and inclined at 30 degrees to the V.P. Draw its projections.
5. Draw the projections of a regular hexagon of 25 mm side, having one of its sides in the H.P. and inclined at 60 degrees
to the V.P. and its surface making an angle of 45 degrees with the H.P.
6. Draw the projections of a circle of 50 mm diameter resting in the H.P. on a point Aon the circumference, its plane
inclined at 45 degrees to the H.P. and the diameter AB making 30 degrees angle with the V.P.
June -2005:
1. Draw a rhombus of diagonals 100 mm and 60 mm long, with the longer diagonal horizontal. The figure is the top view
of a square of 100 mm long diagonals, with a corner on the ground. Draw its front view and determine the angle which
its surface makes with the ground.
2. A cube of 65 mm long edges has its vertical faces equally inclined to the V.P. It is cut by a section plane, perpendicular
to the V.P., so that the true shape of the section is a regular hexagon. Determine the inclination of the cutting plane with
the H.P. and draw the sectional top view and true shape of the section.
3. A hexagonal plane of 30 mm side has a corner in the V.P. and the surface of the plane makes an angle 40 degrees with
the V.P. Draw its projections when the front view of the diagonal through The corner which is in V.P. makes an angle
of 50 degrees to H.P.
4. A square pyramid of base side 30mm and altitude 50mm lies on one of its triangular faces on the HP with its axis
parallel to the VP. It is cut by a vertical plane inclined at 30 0 to the VP and meeting the axis at 40mm from the vertex
measured in the plan. Draw the plan, sectional elevation and the true shape of the section.
5. A line AB 75mm long has its end A in the H.P. and 12 mm in front of V.P. the line is inclined at 60 degrees to H.P. and
30 degrees to V.P. Draw projections.
6. Draw the projections of a cone, base 30mm diameter and axis 50mm long, resting on HP on a point of its base circle
with the axis making an angle of 450 with HP and 300 with VP.

1. A square ABCD of 50 mm side has its corner A in the H.P., its diagonal AC inclined at 30 degrees to the H.P. and the
diagonal BD inclined at 45 degrees to the V.P. and parallel to the H.P. Draw its projections.
2. A hexagonal pyramid, side of the 25 mm long and height 60 mm, has one of its triangular faces perpendicular to the
H.P. and inclined at 45 degrees to the V.P. The base side of this triangular face is parallel to the H.P. Draw its
projections.
3. A sphere of 60mm diameter rests on HP. It is cut by a section plane perpendicular to HP and inclined at 45 0 to VP and
at a distance of 10mm from its centre. Draw the sectional view and true shape of the section.
4. A pentagonal prism, side of base 30mm and axis 60mm lies with one of its rectangular faces on HP and its axis is
parallel to both HP and VP. A section plane perpendicular to HP and inclined at 30 0 to VP bisects the axis. Draw the
sectional front view and true shape of the section.
5. A hexagonal prism side of base 30mm and axis 60mm long rests with its base on HP such that one of its rectangular
faces is parallel to VP. A section plane perpendicular to HP and parallel to VP cuts the prism at distance of 10mm from
its axis. Draw its top and sectional front views.
6. A plate having shape of an isosceles triangle has base 50 mm and altitude 70 mm. It is so placed that in front view it is
seen an equilateral triangle of 50 mm sides and one side inclined at 45 degrees to xy. Draw its top view.
7. A hexagonal pyramid side of base 25 mm and axis 55mm long rests with its base on the HP such that one of the edges
of its base is perpendicular to VP. It is cut by a section plane perpendicular to HP inclined at 45 0 to VP, and passing
through the pyramid at a distance of 10mm from the axis. Draw the sectional front view and the true shape of the
section.
Aug/Sep 2006:
1. A pipe- line from a point A, running due north-east has a downward gradient of 1in 5. Another point B is 12 m away
from and due east of A and on the same level. Find the length and slope of a pipe- line from B which runs due 15
degrees east of north and meets the pipe-line from A.
2. A pentagonal pyramid, base 40 mm side and height 65 mm rests on one edge of its base on the ground so that the
highest point on the base is 25 mm above the ground. Draw its projections when the axis is parallel to the V.P. Draw
another front view on a reference line inclined at 30 degrees to the edge on which it is resting, so that the base is
visible.

A semi circular plate of 80 mm diameter has its straight edge in the V.P. and inclined at 45 degrees to the H.P. The
surface of the plate makes an angle of 30 degrees with the V.P. Draw its projections.
4. A cone base 50mm diameter and axis 60 mm long rests with its base on HP. It is cut by a section plane perpendicular
to HP and inclined at 600 to VP and at a distance of 10mm from its axis. Draw the sectional front view and the true
shape of the section.
5. A line PQ 75 mm long has its end P in the V.P. and the end Q in the H.P. The line is inclined at 30 degrees to the H.P.
and at 60 degrees to the V.P. Draw its projections.
Apr/May 2007:
1. A cube of 35 mm long edges is resting on the H.P. on one of its faces with a vertical face inclined at 30 degrees to the
V.P. It is cut by a section plane, perpendicular to the V.P., inclined at 45 degrees to the H.P. and passing through the top
end of the axis. Draw its front view, sectional top view and true shape of the section.
Aug/Sep 2007:
1. A pentagonal plane of 30 mm side has one of its sides in the V.P. and inclined at 60 degrees to the H.P. while the
surface of the plane makes an angle of 40 degrees to V.P. Draw the projections.
2. A sphere of 50 mm diameter is cut by a section plane perpendicular to the V.P., inclined at 45 degrees to the H.P. and at
a distance of 10 mm from its centre. Draw the sectional top view and true shape of the section.

containing that edge and the axis is perpendicular to the H.P. and inclined at 45 degrees to the V.P. Draw its projections
when the apex is nearer the V.P. than the base.
5. Three lines OA, OB and OC are respectively 25 mm, 45 mm 65 mm long, each making 120 degrees angles with the
other two and the shortest line being vertical. The figure is the top view of the three rods OA, OB and OC whose ends
A, B and C are on the ground, while O is 100 mm above it. Draw the front view and determine the length of each rod
and its inclination with the ground.
6. A cone of base 55mm diameter and axis 65mm long rests with its base on HP. A section plane perpendicular to both
HP and VP cuts the cone at a distance of 8mm from its axis. Draw its top view, front view and sectional side view.
7. One of the body diagonals of a cube of 45 mm edge is parallel to the H.P. and inclined at 45 degrees to the V.P. Draw
the front view and top view of the cube.
8. A pentagonal pyramid of base side 40mm and axis length 80mm is lying on the HP on one of its triangular faces with
its axis parallel to the VP. It is cut by a plane inclined at 30 0 to the HP and perpendicular to the VP. The cutting plane
meets the axis at 15mm from the base. Draw the elevation, sectional plan and the true shape of the section.
9. A tetrahedron of 60 mm long edges has one edge parallel to the H.P. and inclined at 45 degrees to the V.P. while a face
containing that edge is vertical. Draw its projections.
10. An object O is placed 1.2 m above the ground and in the centre of a room 4.2 m long 3.6. m wide and 3.6 m high.
Determine graphically its distance from one of the corners between the roof and two adjacent walls.

1. A cone of base 50 mm diameter and axis 65mm long lies on HP one of its generators with its axis parallel to VP. A
horizontal section plane bisects the axis of the cone. Draw the front and sectional top views.
2. A square prism, side of base 30mm and axis 60mm long, rests with its base on HP and one of its rectangular faces is
inclined at 300 to VP. A section plane perpendicular to VP and inclined at 60 0 to HP cuts the axis of the prism at a point
20mm from its top end. Draw the sectional top view and true shape of the section.
3. A circular plate of negligible thickness and 50 mm diameter appears as an ellipse in the front view, having its major
axis 50 mm long and minor axis 30 mm long .Draw its top view when the major axis of the ellipse is horizontal.
4. A hexagonal prism of base of side 40mm and axis length 80mm rests on one of its base edges on the HP. The end
containing that edge is inclined at 30 0 to the HP and the axis is parallel to VP. It is cut by a plane perpendicular to the
VP and parallel to the HP. The cutting plane bisects the axis. Draw its front and the sectional top views.
February 2008
1. A pentagonal prism of base side 25mm and axis length 50mm rests on the HP on one of the base corners with the base
edges containing it being equally inclined to the HP. The axis is inclined at 45 0 to the HP and the plane containing the
axis is inclined at 300 to the VP. Draw the projections of the prism.
2. A sphere of 75 mm diameter is cut by a section plane, perpendicular to the V.P. and inclined at 30 degrees to the H.P. in
such a way that the true shape of the section is a circle of 50 mm diameter. Draw its front view, sectional top view and
sectional side view.
3. A square pyramid, base 40 mm side and axis 75 mm long is placed on the ground on one of its slant edges, so that the
vertical plane passing through that edge and the axis makes an angle of 30 degrees with V.P. Draw its projections.
May/Jun 2008:
1. A hollow cylinder of 40 mm outside diameter and 30 mm inside diameter is resting on a point on the rim in VP with
axis inclined at 300 to VP and parallel to HP. The axis length of the cylinder is 60 mm. It is cut by a vertical section

plane inclined at 600 to VP and bisecting the axis. Draw the sectional front view, top view and true shape of the
section.
2. The front view of a line AB, 80 mm long, measures 55 mm while its top view measures 70 mm. End A is in both HP
and VP. Draw the projections of the line and find its inclinations with the reference planes.
3. A 100 mm line AB, measures 70 mm in top view and 80 mm in profile view. The end A 80 mm from profile plane, 90
mm above HP and 30 mm in front of VP. Draw the front view and top view of the line and find its inclinations with HP
and VP.
4. A regular hexagonal lamina with its edge 50 mm has its plane inclined at 45 0 to HP and lying with one of its edges in
HP. The plan of one of its diagonals is inclined at 45 0 to XY. The corner nearest to VP is 15 mm in front of it. Draw its
projections.
5. The distance between the end projectors of a line AB is 50 mm. Point A is 15 mm above HP and 10 mm in front of VP.
Point B is 40 mm above HP and 40 mm in front of VP. Find the true length of the line AB, the inclinations of the line
AB with HP and VP.
6. Draw the projections of a circle of 50 mm diameter, when its plane is equally inclined to HP and VP. One end of a
diameter of the circle touches the HP while the other end touches the VP.
7. A regular pentagon of side 40 mm has its surface inclined to HP at 45 0. It is resting with its base on HP and the line
joining the vertex to mid-point of the base making an angle of 600 with VP. Draw its projections.
8. (i) A point A is 2.5 cm above the H.P. and 3 cm in front of the V.P. Draw its Projections.
(ii) A point A is 2 cm below the H.P. and 4 cm behind the V.P. Draw its Projections.
(iii) Two points A and B are in the H.P. The point A is 30mm in front of the V.P. while B is behind the V.P. The distance
between their projectors is 75mm and the line joining their top views makes an angle of 45 0 with xy. Find the distance
of the point B form the V.P.
9. A line AB 120mm long is inclined at 45 0 to the H.P. and 300 to the V.P. Its midpoint C is in V.P. and 20mm above H.P.
The end A is in the third quadrant, and B is in the first quadrant Draw the projections of the line.
10. (i) A regular pentagon of 25mm side has one side on the ground. Its plane is inclined at 45 0 to the H.P. and
perpendicular to the V.P. Draw its projections.
(ii) Draw the projections of a circle of 5cm diameter, having its plane vertical and inclined at 30 0 to the V.P. Its centre
is 3cm above the H.P. and 2cm in front of the V.P.
11. (i) Draw the projections of a hexagonal prism of base 25mm and axis 60mm long, when it is resting on one of its
corners of the base on H.P. The axis of the solid is inclined at 450 to H.P.
(ii) Draw the projections of a pentagonal prism of base 25mm side and axis 50mm long, when it is resting on one of its
rectangular faces on H.P., the axis of the solid is inclined at 450 to V.P.
12. (i) A 100mm long line is parallel to and 40mm above the H.P. Its two ends are 25mm and 50mm in front of the V.P.
respectively. Draw it projections and find its inclination with the V.P.
(ii) A line AB, 50mm long, has its end A in both the H.P. and the V.P. It is included at 30 0 to the H.P and at 450 to the
V.P. Draw its projections.
13. A circular plane of 60mm diameter rests on V.P. on a point A on its circumference. Its plane is inclined at 45 0 to V.P.
Draw the projections of the plane when (a) The front view of the diameter AB makes 30 0 with H.P. and (b) The
diameter AB itself makes 300 with H.P.
14. (i) Draw the projections of a triangular prism, base 40 mm side and axis 50 mm long, resting on one of its bases on the
H.P. with a vertical face perpendicular to the V.P.
(ii) A cube of 50mm long edges is resting on the H.P. with its Vertical faces equally inclined to the V.P. Draw its
projections.
(iii) A triangular prism, base 40 mm side and height 65 mm is resting on the H.P. on one of its rectangular faces with
the axis parallel to the V.P. Draw its projections.
15. (a) A point P is 15mm above the H.P. and 20mm in front of the V.P. Another point Q is 25mm behind the V.P. and
40mm below the H.P. Draw projections of P and Q keeping the distance between their projectors equal to 90mm. Draw
straight lines joining (i) their top views and (ii) Their front views.
(b) A point 30mm above xy line is the plan view of two points P and Q. the elevation of P is 45mm above the H.P.
while that of the point Q is 35mm below the H.P. Draw the projections of the points and state their position with
reference to the principal planes and the quadrant in which they lie.
16. (i) A 100mm long line is parallel to and 40mm above the H.P. Its two ends are 25mm and 50mm in front of the V.P.
respectively. Draw it projections and find its inclination with the V.P.
(ii) A line AB, 50mm long, has its end A in both the H.P. and the V.P. It is included at 30 0 to the H.P and at 45 0 to the
V.P. Draw its projections.
17. A regular hexagonal plane of 30mm side has a corner at 20mm from V.P. and 50mm from H.P. Its surface is inclined at
450 to V.P. and perpendicular to H.P. Draw the projections of the plane.
18. (i) Draw the projections of a pentagonal pyramid, base 30 mm edge and axis 50mm long, having its base on the H.P.
and an edge of the base parallel to the V.P. Also draw its side view.

(ii) Draw the projections of a hexagonal pyramid, base 30 mm side and axis 60 mm long, having its base on the H.P.
and one of the edges of the base inclined at 450 to the V.P.
(iii) A square pyramid, base 40mm side and axis 65mm, long has its base in the V.P. One edge of the base is inclined at
300 to the H.P. and a corner contained by that edge is on the H.P. Draw its Projections.
19. Draw the projections of the following points on the same ground line, keeping the Projectors 20mm apart.
(a) Point C, in the V.P. and 40mm above the H.P.
(b) Point D, 25mm below the H.P. and 25mm behind the V.P.
(c) Point E, 15mm above the H.P. and 50mm behind the V.P.
(d) Point F, 40mm below the H.P. and 25mm in front of the V.P.
20. A line AB of 70mm long has its end A at 10mm above H.P. and 15mm in front of V.P. Its front view and top view
measure 50mm and 60mm respectively. Draw the projections of the line and determine its inclinations with H.P. and
V.P.
21. Draw the projections of a circle of 60 mm diameter, resting on V.P. on a point on the circumference. The plane is
inclined at 450 to V.P. and perpendicular to H.P. The centre of the plane is 40mm above H.P.
22. Draw the projections of
(i) A cylinder, base 40 mm diameter and axis 50 mm long, and
(ii) A cone, base 40mm diameter and axis 50mm long, resting on the H.P. on their respective bases.
23. (i) A hexagonal prism has one of its rectangular faces parallel to the H.P. Its axis is perpendicular to the V.P. and 3.5 cm
above the ground. Draw its projections when the nearer end is 2 cm in front of the V.P. Side of base 2.5cm long, axis5
cm long.
(ii) A cube of 40mm side rests with one of its square faces on the H.P. such that one of its vertical faces is
perpendicular to V.P. Draw its projections. The nearest edge parallel to V.P. is 5mm in front of it.
June 2009:
1. Three spheres each of diameter 45mm rest on the HP touching each other. The line of centers of two of them is
inclined at 300 to the VP. Another sphere of diameter 55mm is kept over the three spheres in a pyramidal form
touching the other spheres. Draw the projections of the assembly of spheres.
