VP ENGINEERING @ HOME-ACCOUNT SINCE JULY 2009

Developed the product into a mature mortgage matching engine with great user interface and
powerful analytics.

• Designed the front and back-end that made it possible to launch a new site
(http://www.refinance.com) in 7 weeks.
• Created API to simplify integration with partners and affiliates.
Managed and mentored the team. Hired full-time employees and engaged contractors on/off-
shore as necessary.

VP ENGINEERING (Consulting) @ MONETASUITE OCT 2008 – JUNE 2009

Tactical consulting to lead the product and technology from inception to the first release including
investor pitches, customer demos and webinars. Designed the product:
• front-end using Office add-in (VSTO) technology with C# and
• back-end with PHP and SQLite.
Worked closely with customers during the Beta test phase for product features and technical
support. Recruited a team of developers as well as QA and released the first version in very short
time period. Created a product roadmap and delivered all releases on or before deadlines.

Word and Excel are available to specific customers.

ENGINEERING MANAGER @ eBay/SHOPPING.COM JAN 2006 – FEB 2009

Hands-on manager for the Merchant and the API engineering teams.

Merchants provide their offers (product at a price + bid) which are used on Shopping.com as well
as distributed via API to partners.

The back-end system is responsible for digesting offer updates at the rate of 25M/day with an
average capacity of 100M offers and 120M images.
• Improved the frequency of updates from 1 update/24 hours to 1 update/2 hours.
• Improved the number of offers that can be processed per update from 5M to 25M.
• Improved the number of records written to the database by 100%.
• Provided an ability to track every offer through the different stages by changing to
 services based architecture.
Used a combination of JMS, multi-threaded apps, Hadoop and Glassfish for WS.

The front-end, used by merchants to change their bids, is also used to provide up-to-the-hour
updates on their balance, spending and performance analytics so that they can dynamically
change the demand by improving their prices and bids.

Designed API using service-oriented architecture with JAX-WS and JBI standards. Released the
project in just 3 months as a full product that included a supporting website, Java and Ruby
SDKs, user forums, beta testing, migration plan for the previous product and self
registration/key request.

• REST interface with extensive error handling

• Achieved 10x performance(300 queries/sec, 24M queries/day)

QA MANAGER @ E-LOAN SEP 2005 - JAN 2006

Took the initiative to re-organize QA as a separate team in the Engineering organization.

• Built QA environment – the first one – which improved the reliability and
comprehensiveness of testing
• Developed metrics to measure software quality and implemented new procedure for

• Co-architect and developer of the back-end infrastructure that supports all on-line and off-
line loan processing with web based monitoring, configuration and deployment using
JGroups, Hibernate, Quartz, Axis on JBoss
• Designed and implemented real-time application for managing credit card transactions
• Designed and lead development of Rules-based Expert Decision system using JESS engine.
This architecture was used for auto and home-equity loan underwriting as well as lender
matching engine.
• Improved the underwriting process from 15 mins to 15 secs.

• Designed and implemented software-based phone control system for home-based agents
