Explanation

I have read How I Met Myself by David A. Hill. The theme of the
story is determination which is shown by the main character itself,
John Taylor.
John Taylor was an English computer programmer who lived
in Hungarian Hungary. One day, he was on his way back home.
When he reached 7 Felka Utca, someone ran into John and he fell.
The man ran away and said "sorry". However, after a while, John
realized the man left no footprints in the snow. The man even
looked like him. So he followed the man until he entered
Zsolts Cafe. To hisdisapoinment disappointment, the man
disappeared.
The day afterwards, John had nightmares and often woke up
feeling fearful and uneasy. His wife, Andrea, was worried about
John Taylor. John Taylor felt as if something was not right. He felt
like the man he saw the other day wastrying to give giving a
message. John wasdetermined on finding out the truth. He started
asking everyone and even went to a library to make a research
regarding it. Finally, John found an old newspaper aboutdated 18th
January, about a man namedJanos Szabo who died in a
war. John Taylor had confessed the truth to his wife about his
weird behaviour lately, Andrea was supportive at first. But when
Kati was born, Andrea became angry and asked John to stop with
his nonsense stories.
Despite their strained relationship, John waspersisted on finding out
the truth. He nevergive gave up. One day, he went to number 7
Felka Utca and met Mrs Fischer. The old woman told John about
what happened to Janos Szabo, and about his wife and daughter as
well. John was happy because Mrs Fischer helped him.
After 3 years, its 18th January was about to come again. John was
on his way back home. He was thinking whether he
should went go to 7 Felka Utca to meet his doppleganger or not.
Suddenly, he saw some men putting up a sign on an old shop. The
sign was written with the owners name with the word "Szabo"
underneath. Then, John realized that it was a tailor
shop. Szabo was Taylor in Hungarian language. To make it
short, Janos Szabowas a Hungarian language for John Taylor.
John decided to met meet Mrs Fischer again. He asked Mrs Fischer

It was the 4th year of 18th January, John was on his way back
home. When he arrived, he found a note from Andrea. In the
note,Andrea wrote written that she Andrea was replacing Zsolt at
Zsolt's cafe. Andrea bringbrought Kati along Kati with her. John
quickly ran out of their flat and went to number 7 Felka Utca. When
he reached there, he heard an explosion. He knew it was from
Gergely Utca. He quickly went there and ran into Zsolt's Cafe.
However, he was stopped by a fireman. The fireman asked John
Taylor to stay away from the cafe and go back home. John was
heartbroken. On his way back home, a man accidentally ran into
John Taylor. It was his doppleganger again. John's doppleganger
was pointing at Andrea and Kati at the end of the street. John was
overjoyed. His wife and daughter are alive. Andrea told John about
his doppleganger who stopped her and Kati from entering the cafe.
At first she thought it was his husband, John Taylor. But Kati

SAMPLE QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS

How I Met Myself: Character That You Admire The Most

Based on the novel How I Met Myself written by David A. Hill, the
character I admire the most is John Taylor.
The reason why I admire him is because he is persistent. As evidence, no
matter how bad the situation became, he never stopped looking for
information on his doppelganger even when he had troubled with his
doppelganger and recurrence of dreams. Eventually, the second reason I
admire him is he is determination. He realized that his doppelganger
appeared for an important reason, so he was determined to find out by
making a research of his dream and nightmare of his doppelganger by
searching for the information in the library and questioning Mrs. Fischer at 7
Felka Utca. Furthermore, I admire him because of his strong will power. Even
though his search made his life difficult and strained his relationship with his
wife, he did not give up and kept pursing the subject because he feels like he
has to protect his family from harm. Because of his good personality traits,
he finally understands that the doppelganger wants to save him and his
family.

Taylor because of his strong will power. Even though his search made his life
difficult and miserable, with a strained relationship with his wife, he never
gave up. John always came home late at night and Andrea has some
negative thoughts on his husband which made their relationship strained,
but he kept pursing the subject and never gave up. Because of his good
personality traits, he finally understands that the doppelganger wants to
save him and his family. Based on the reasons above, Johns good traits

How I Met Myself: Character That You Admire The Most

I had studied the novel,"How I Met Myself", written by David A. Hill. The
character I admired the most is John Taylor because he had a lot of
good qualities that I can learnt.
John is a patient person. After the meeting with his doppelganger, he
waited every evening after work at Zsolt's cafe in hope to see the
doppelganger. One day, he even waited there for more than one hour.
Besides, John is a caring husband. He didn't tell Andrea about the
strange meeting because he hope to not let Andrea feel worry about
him. He didn't tell Andrea what Mrs. Fischer and the assistant at the
Public Records Office told him about the doppelganger. He did not wish
to make Andrea more worried.
In addition, John was also a determined person. He went to ask Mr.
Szabo and Mrs. Fischer about the person that having the same name
as him, finally because of his determination, he had finally got some
information from Mrs. Fischer. He knew that Janos(his
doppelganger)wife and child had the same name as Andrea and Kati.
He did went to Hungary City Library to read the newspaper about
Hungary's history and the event happened at 18th January.
John Taylor had a lot of great qualities, therefore I admired him.

Based on the novel How I Met Myself, write about a theme. Show
how it is portrayed in the novel by giving details from the novel.

Based on the novel How I Met Myself by David A. Hill, the theme that
can be found is " Love . This theme is significant in this novel as it revolves
around John Taylor and his family. This can be seen from the way they take
care of each other and stood by their spouses through difficult times in life.
Love is definitely around John Taylors family as Andrea supports her
husband throughout the journey of their life. Never once in her life, that
Andrea does not believe in John Taylor and his doppelganger. She is a symbol
of a loyal and loving wife, who stands by her man, no matter what is
happening to him. Finally, love is seen through John Taylor. He is a
responsible father and husband, even if he neglects his family for a while
when he is carried away in finding his doppelganger. John Taylor is a
character with full of love and care, he loves his wife unconditionally. In
conclusion, love is widely seen in this novel through the characters of

Based on How I Met Myself by David A. Hill, a character that I disliked
was John Taylor. There were many reasons as to why I disliked John.
One evening, a man ran into John. The man looked like John.
This incident troubled John. However, John did not tell Andrea about
this incident. John thought that Andrea would not understand him. John
came home late. Andrea asked why he was late. John lied to Andrea. He said

about it at Zsolts caf. Actually, John went to Zsolts caf to find the man.
The next few days, he always came home late. Andrea was unhappy. She
thought that John had another woman. They argued with each other.

doppelganger was trying to give a message. He checked his diary. He met his

hoped that they could meet his doppelganger again. Andrea did not like the
idea. But she agreed to help John for the last time.

After that, John became more secretive. He was not truthful.

John was desperate to find out what happened on 18 January. He lied to his
boss. He told his boss that he had to take care of his baby because Andrea
was not well. His boss gave him some time off. He used the time to go to the
Budapest City Library to read old newspapers. He went to the library again
on Saturday. He told Andrea that he had a meeting at work. He lied to
Andrea. However, Andrea found out that John lied to him. Andrea called his

the man that he met was his doppelganger. He learnt that a doppleganger
wanted to give a message about danger or to give advice. John wanted to
find the truth. From his diary, he found out that he met his doppelganger on
18 January. He met Paul Harris in Swindon, England. Paul was Johns best
friend at school. John told Paul about the doppelganger incident. Paul

believed John. Paul asked John to be careful. Paul told John that bad things
could happen. On the second 18 January, he went to number 7 Felka utca
with Andrea. John met the same man again but Andrea did not see anything.
John did not understand what had happened. However, he was determined to
find the answer.
Thirdly, he went to the Budapest City Library. He read many old
newspapers. He learnt about a mother and her child who died in an explosion
in Gergely utca. The explosion happened on 18 January 1945. The mothers
name was Mrs Szabo. John felt that this incident might relate to his problem.
Upon learning about Mrs Szabo, he went to Gergely utca. He met the
housekeeper and Mrs Kovacs. However, they did not know any Szabo Family.
He went to Felka utca. He met a man named Mr Szabo. Mr Szabo moved to
Felka utca in 1956. So, he was not the right Szabo. John did not give up.
Then, he met with Mrs Fischer. Mrs Fischer told John about Janos Szabo. Janos
had a wife and daughter. They died in an explosion in Gergely utca. Janoss
wife and daughter were called Andrea and Kati. Mrs Fischer told John that his
face looked exactly like Janos. John was walking one day. John discovered
that Janos Szabo was the Hungarian name for John Taylor. John went to
the Public Records Office. He found out that he and Janos were born on 23
October. John was shocked with the similarities that he had with Janos Szabo,
his doppelganger. He was afraid that something bad would happen to his
family.
Finally, John understood why he met his doppelganger. His
doppelganger wanted to warn John about danger. His doppelganger saved
Andrea and Kati from a terrible explosion. Johns determination helped to
solve his main problem. He believed that every cloud has a silver lining.
